No freedom of speech in China means you can't trust information coming out of China. 1,000,000 displaced by Olympics. China is using this as propaganda. Remember Tiananmen Square!!! If things were really good there would be no need for censorship and supression of free speech.

The image of China in many westerners' mind is still that of when it was communist country, but China has changed a lot during the past 10 years. It's probably more proactive to physically help Tibetans in China than to try to extinguish a torch and hurt the Olympics, which is international, not just China's. It just looks really bad when protesters become violent and forceful. What is the REAL (root) issue? Human rights? If so, we should address more countries in the world than just China.

It's interesting to see how the protesters are mainly westerners rarely do we see any Chinese people protest. It is an internal affair afterall (each country has their own issues that they are dealing with) and the Chinese people (even those living abroad and outside of China)have a better picture of what the truth/scam is. Westerners only see what media feeds them, and it's just funny how they are SO adamant about the issue even though they have not been to Tibet, nonetheless China.

The Chinese Government is uncivilized and brutal. They persecute Tibetans, Moslems, Catholics, Falun Gong members, and journalists. And the Chinese public sentiment is awash in ridiculous amounts of self-pity. You want to be in the international 'big boys' club? Okay, clean up your human rights abuses to earn the ante into the game.

Hmm..have u been to China lately? Or the last 10 years? Those info that you have is it updated? Or you are just reading history? If you want improvement u need time to change. If you want to rebuild your house u need at least 8 months. We are talking about 1/3 of the world populations. Do you think they deserve longer time? The pass 30 years they have restructure and reconnect every pieces so dun be blinded. Look at ur own country first.

Yes, I have been to China a few months ago. The people are ruthless with no ethics. Rude, pushy, smokes like chimneys, smells, unhygienic, --- a bunch of peasants amidst tall buildings.
