Is it...just me, or did Caine sound a little ...ticked off when he made the remark about the praying mantis? Looking at it from the perspective of "religious"impersonate, perhaps he was akin a statement on religious hypocrisy of some?...maybe it's just me.
My gripe with Hollywood though is that Bruce should have at least been credited for the original concept. Bruce, a novice actor, certainly got a lesson in show business politics that day. But it was a blessing in disguise. He might never have become the mega star he was, had he stated in the states.
From Hollywoods perspective, they also would have been taking a big chance on an unknown actor, whose abilities would have to carry the show. Millions were being invested on something new.
@zipper179 agreed. David was fantastic in the role. I can't see Bruce playing a humble character. Too much intensity that's hard to tone down. Let's not forget also that Bruce had this charisma about him. When he's on screen, all you want to do is look at him. I could see him unintentionally "stealing scenes".
I know the role was meant for Bruce Lee originally, but seeing Davd do his thing I just couldn't imagine a better person to play Caine. Carridine had this powerfully subtle unstated delivery the spoke volumes. Simply could not imagine Bruce delivering these lines.
@TheSubwaysurfer Carradine was also the better actor. We also have to remember that Caine was of 2 cultures, and, that was what was needed to be conveyed..
