LOL. I can't BELIEVE this is on YouTube. I was in the audience for this taping and the crowd was indeed told to act "obnoxiously." Jones wasn't a fan; she kept walking through the aisles during the performance with her producer, rolling her eyes. Of course, we had to sit through two hours of taping for a 40-minute show to get to the band, so we were ready to get up and shake a bit!!
What is it some law that after an artist commits an act of creation they must follow it up with an equally intense act of destruction? This law of the conservation of creativity sure is at work throughout much of the history of rock performance and here is not an example of it.
This was weird, I didn't even know talk shows booked music acts. The guests on the show should've danced onstage. But Dinosaur Jr. is the best ever. They should've played 'Alone' instead to make the studio audience moan and wail and melt down into a sea of ooze on the floor...
In you discription you say J. Uses 3 full stacks, sorry to be an ass this show he used only 2 full stacks. The other full stack is for Lou Barlow. He combines guitar amps with bass amps. Pretty Awsome!
It's amazing that she would even have them on here show. A couple of years ago they were on the Henry Rollins Show on IFC and they played Forget the Swan from their first album. It was an epic moment for television. One fo the greatest bands ever...
J rules. Glad the original lineup is back together. Saw em' were great as usual. One of thegreatest (and underrated) bands of all time. Dopey crowd? yah, oh well
0:39 - J and Mike are like "Um, what the fuck is the crowd doing?". Gah, this video is so Nineties: The fugly-looking sweaters, shitty talk-shows, and incredibly corny/stupid crowd.
J fucking rocked it, though. I'm pissed they don't play stuff from "Hand It Over" enough, 'cuz I fucking loved that album.
good god i wish i was a bit older in the 90s i rember stuff like this eating kd and watching nirvana and pearl jam alice inchains andsound garden on ( muchmusic) good lord this stf is gonna come back hopeful corgan new stuff can get all the old school grungers off there ass and get them into making bands so we can have a revultion !
I saw this when it first aired. I was ticked off that they cut to a commercial just as J. was starting to jam on a solo. I thought maybe they did that because it was too loud and rockin' for them.
if your a member of this audience you´ve got 2 choices - either get with it or smash your chair up and use it to assault the band. would´ve been interesting to see what would´ve happened had this been the gerry springer show :-)
It's the lights man, when they turn down the lights and the music starts blaring...the atmosphere shifts into a concert mode so quickly, it takes everybody by storm. One guy gets into it, gets up, and everyone goes nuts! Dinosaur is power.
i will never forget i was about 17 or so when this album came out my friends told me he saw it the night before and i was whatt the fuck are they doing on jenny jones ??
Funny but don't blame America! They were happy to get air time. Jenny jones was the most naive, almost stupid talk show person ever. So ditzy and ignorant at times I wanted to grab her head an give it a good swirly!
@ManuelHung They would often have underground rock bands perform on the show, as well as some unknown R&B/ rap acts. Once, they even had David Archuleta, then age 9, perform "And I am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" from the musical "Dream Girls". This is likely the biggest musical guest that The Jenny Jones Show ever had, though.
