  • I remember cruising my 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am 4spd with the T-Tops off and blaring my Blaupunt Berlin with the Gooseneck EQ and Pioneer Triaxal 6x9 speakers. Those were the days!

  • only with a pyriamid power booster though! still have one in my stock 75' T/A

  • and i remember my 68 Plymouth Satellite with Cragar mags, 318 CID, metal-flake green paint, twin hi-jacker shocks in the rear...wow, do we know how good we had it? youth, a little bit of cash...at least 3 chicks that liked me, and the best rock music...wish we could do it again

  • Cool man

  • Had a 76 Gremlin -X with 2 wooden boxes with mindblower speakers.Could hear me coming up the road for a mile.Blasted the hell out of my eardrums with this shit.No wonder im legally deaf lol.Good times in that car though. Then i bought a Dodge van, fully customized, wall to wall shag, yeah baby yeah.

  • @77pintoboy and we ended up at the drive-in with the "Foxy American Girls"....I had a '72 metallic gold plymouth satellite sebring built for speed.....and an 8-gallon keg in the trunk....nobody left that place still a virgin, eh? Keep the Faith, Brother!!!

  • had um too in my '70 Torino GT

  • Today sucks its not as cool as back then man !

  • @MrMarkbennett I had the Jensen triaxials and coaxials both in the back of a '69 4 door Chrysler Newport. There was a place to mount four 6 x 9's! The sound was great. The best I'd heard back then. I had cassette Craig Power Play and/or cassette Pioneer Supertuner powering them,,,can't remeber which at the time,,,I had both. (Both were top of the line.) I think the Powerplay was rated more watts per channel "of the vintage juice".

  • One of the BEST- short, guitar solos.

  • One of the best albums of all time= top51:..).>>

  • funny how you don't care? ya never wanna take me anywhere?

  • It's like one of thier best!" broken home I'm so into cars"

  • Can't believe they actually allowed that album cover to be distributed back then. Hot though! Big tit, redhead on a car!?

  • @BlackdogScratch Actually, things were were a lot looser back then than nowadays.

  • Man... what a great song that didn't get the airplay!!!

  • Sounds like something off Roxy Music's ' For Your Pleasure' album only 6 years later..Album artwork style kinda similar only 7 years later..

  • Nobody ever discusses Elliot Easton when it's time to talk 'guitarists'. Dude had such a clean, distinctive sound...almost Brian May like.

  • Best Cars Album Ever - Would like to hear the Devil Runs:)..).>>

  • i want to meet the 9 jerk offs that dislike this song.

  • Gotta have the Shoo be doo.

  • 400 fold thank you 4 free Music - f*CK sopa

  • I got to see the Cars debuet in Cleveland Ohio at the World Series of Rock in 1976, I believe. Oh yeah, playing with them were Todd Rundgren, Ted Nugent, and Fleetwood Mac along with Bob Welsh. And the ticket cost $10.00 dollars.Damn, take me back to those days!

  • Awesome "Lets Rock 'ON!"

  • Uncle Danny hasn't heard this since he was in his teens.. He's 45 right now and will be over at my house tonight.. So i'm downloading this song for him and put it on my brand new stereo i just got..

  • Following up their debut THE CARS with CANDY-O was one of the greatest one-two punches in the history of album rock!

  • @SpaceOdyssey56 then got knocked out

  • Hell yeah I never get tired of this group of songs, album of 1979 !

  • The Cars best song.

  • @weaseldragon I dont know about that , there are alot of the CARS best songs

  • a great song by a band i used to have to get drunk to listen to :) keep it up guys!

  • Sounds like these guys listened to Marquee Moon nonstop.

  • In my option this is the best album ever made.

  • thumbs up if you clicked for the thumbnail

  • Remember when Taste Of Honey beat out The Cars for Best New Band Grammy?

  • recorded at Cherokee studio's in L.A.- I was there maintaining a Q-lock and heard it all go down. An experience of a lifetime. Ocasek showed up in a Rolls Royce with purple hair and Benjamin Orr was the prettiest dude I had ever seen. Probably still have hearing damage from that week but it was worth it!

  • wow just listen to this song, this is why i keep saying the CARS are not a pop band. The CARS were medium guitar rock mixed with new wave. The most innovative band of all time. With Ric Ocaseks querky lyrics, the voice of Benjamin Orr, Elliot Eastons guitar work, the brain behind the band , drummer David Robinson, and the amazing keyboardist Greg Hawkes, success was instant.

  • The most sought out album cover of 1979. starring the hits Lets Go , and Candyo

  • Damn Vargas draws good...great song..

  • 1979? Jeeezuz, where has the time gone? This was "New Wave" when it came out.

Awesome full album, start to finish. They don't make "albums" any more today.

  • @ninjamojo711 I agree and Ocasek established himself as being one of the greatest writers of the 'new wave' era.

    R.Nix

  • @ninjamojo711 I always thought they were new wave and guitar rock. They were definitely different back then and the most innovative band of all time.

  • @THECARS7879 Yes, definitely guitar driven, but still somewhat New Wave. I consider them in a class all by themselves.

  • I hear ya scrappy.....I was in my 1970 Dodge Challenger blasting my jensen triaxles cruizin for chicks.

  • @MrMarkbennett Holy shit! I can't beleive it someone actually remembers the old Jensen Triaxles. I had a 70 Nova with a Pioneer 8 track wired up to the Jensen Triaxles . You gotta admit that was the shit back then.

  • @mutt1265 lol, wow....the Jensen triaxials had the mid component while the coaxials did'nt and yes-they were the shit

  • @mutt1265

We all had Jensen Tri-Axials too, along with those Sanyo tape decks. My buds all had the cassette decks and I had the Sanyo 8-track. Those under dash mounted decks would slide out of their mounting frames and were interchangeable too! Cool stuff....

  • @mutt1265 You could rock on 8-track..Digital distorts if you get too loud

  • By far the Cars ruled and dominated the 80s and beyond, excellent song . Makes me wish that I were cruising around in a 77 Trans am looking for chicks :)

  • @6909Scrappy

Fuck yes. Or my 69 SS Chevelle. Pussy was not an issue but VARIETY was. But shit I wore this 'CASSETTE' out I'll admit. It was a great time in my life.

  • @Leggs013 What the mother F are you talking about. Go back to listening to Bieber you fairy.

  • @Leggs013 get lost troll and go listen to bieber

  • @THECARS7879 heyy its not right that u people gotta sit on here and bad mouth people its only music videos

  • @CHICKS99ful oh yeah well i defend my artists, so they can get lost

  • candy o i need you sunday dress ruby rings candy o i need you so could you help me in purple hum, assorted cards razor lights, you bring and all to prove you're on the move and vanishing candy o i need you so candy o i need you so the edge of night distract yourself obstacles don't work homogenize, decentralize it's just a quirk different ways to see you through all the same in the end peculiar star that's who you are do you have to win
  • I just ordered this vintage album on the limited gold disk edition. Candyo I still need you!

  • Love this album and specially this song. I had a 70 Javelin going to Thunderbirds in Dundalk, MD playing the cars like all the others in their own hot rods. Thunderbirds was a drive in- type eating place which was a fancy Dairy queen set up much like the Sonics here in Texas. The "Cars" were big then and different than any other rock type group. They were bad ass and still this song is just as good as ever.

  • I did her

  • candy-o i only want your t's

  • damn that b**** is fine.

  • How can anyone dislike this song? this has to be one of the best guitar riffs and vocals that came out of 1979

  • @THECARS7879

I have a hard time disagreeing with you, you know what screw it, this is the hardest rock and roll new wave ever!

  • @THECARS7879

not quite, all though song has a kick ass riff, My Sharona still tops out with the baddest riff bar none.

  • @NorthCountryBoy43 No that Gary Numan , they have nothing to do with one another

  • Still a tight sounding little tune, after all these years...Elliot Eastons' guitar solos were always so tight and clean....

  • After all these years this tune still rocks. Love it.

  • best halloween tune

  • @NorthCountryBoy43 No, that was Gary Numan, later popularized by Fear Factory as a cover.

  • killer song : ]

  • fave cars song

  • Remember the Candy-O sticker that came with the album?

I still have mine, how about you????

  • @icicicles

I wonder if it's a collectors item now?

  • I just realized how similar ZZ Top's "Legs" is to this song, especially the beginning. Does anybody else hear it?

  • Blew a lot of speakers with this album !!

  • Madonna is in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame but The Cars are not ????

  • Everything in this song WORKS.

  • love that riff at 1:17

  • I have to thank my co-worker who got me listening to 100.3. Otherwise, I never would've started listening to music like this.

  • The real question is how manny childrern?

  • I am seriously addicted to this song right now. Thanks for the upload.

  • Their live stuff sounded just like studio-I did some recording at Boylston Sound in Boston where they did a lot of their stuff.-met them-Ben Orr was a wild man-Okasek had a crush on Amy Mann from 'Til Tuesday"--Bad Blood between them.

  • I love this whole album <3

  • This is such a baddass song.

  • @thereallouminatti Candyo song and album by the CARS, one of my favorite songs , albums and bands of all time. the CARS Are my favorite band

Enjoy the tunes...remember the good old days and cherish the great times of today. Bad day? Listen to the CARS and relive yesterday :) !!! Joe Riv

  • 'The Cars' was released in '78! 'Candy O' was released in '79!

Sooo all the jailbait out there from the '70s quit saying it was the 80's :). I was still a teen when the 80's came ringing, man the stuff me and the boys (and our GFs) did was not close to being illegal but WAS illegal. No harm under the 'Dashboard Lights', 'Racing in the Streets' (the police from time to time :) ) and all the great dance music that Punk and 'New Wave' (WhIch I think the CARS DEFINED) gave us !!!! Joe Riv

  • One of the most unique sounding bands ever. Absolutely awesome.

  • This is too freaking' great! The 80's rocked and we who came of age in this great decade are so fortunate!

  • The real trilogy is "Double life-Shoo Be Doo-Candy O"

  • The things you did in your car listening to the cars, boy what a life we all had in the eighties.

  • my name is cameo and everytime i hear this song I swear it's saying my name lmao freaks me out :P

    under a rock haha

  • blowjobs aside, this was a badass tune.

  • Man did we have good music in my generation or what it just can't be beat diverse and timeless!!

  • I fucking love laser beam noises

  • @CaptKaboom It's as easy as assigning a fast sawdown wave to the cutoff frequency and playing with the cutoff knob with the resonance on high.

  • @shelly10538 I fucking love assigning a fast sawdown wave to the cutoff frequency and playing with the cutoff knob with the resonance on high.

  • This Proves The Cars can be just as hard rock-oriented as Van Halen. Me being 13 loves both bands, but if you put a gun to my head i would say The Cars in a heartbeat, lol

  • One of the best tunes ever written..

  • @00sopo One of the best albums ever written.

  • and I was 1 year from meeting Ben after painting his portrait.Phenomenal experience!

  • F*CKING AWESOME TUNE! The Cars taught a new way of music to the World, and this tune led the charge. And there are 5 idiots out there who fail to make the connection.

  • Revelwoodie, your not from Alaska are you? If so we got a problem!

  • Opps hit the dislike by mistake. My bad.

  • Read your original Cars album. Fan mail should be sent to Carlisle MA. I grew up in Carlisle. I went to school with Candy O. She was the boy's toy.

  • God this song has one of the best melt facing guitar solos ever.

  • And they say the younger generation are crazier now???? I'm going to be 33 (born in 78, I was an infant when this song came out), and am a virgin.

  • I have this vinyl, the entire album is awesome!

  • The Girl on the Cover looks like a very young, Madison Young.

  • @chaumont20 How many people know Madions Young? Or, what she poses for. WE do. . and you're right. Madison would be honored.

  • Their best album!

  • the best band ever RIP benjamin orr

  • i did that bitch

  • many a long shift lol

  • I clicked this link for the pic then i noticed it was the cars... greatest 4 seconds of my life XD

  • The whole New Wave got us out of Disco - The Cars, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, Nick Lowe, Blondie, The Clash, etc. Who is going to get us out of this Rap plague? And the music industry doesn't understand why sales are declining........

  • @wpollock1 Haley Reinhart I hope, check her out you may like her, what an amazing wide variety she has.

  • @wpollock1 I pick disco over rap/hip hop and alternative ANY day. It least disco had good rythium, beat and even the rock guitar. Today's trashy music makes disco sound pure and better than ever.

  • @wpollock1 Because Rap SUCKS !! Don't forget "The Motels", "Styx", "Black Flag", "Echo and the Bunnymen", "The Fixx"......Need I say more? :)

  • @Alcohollica1966 Agree! There are a few original artists in rap, but when I hear a song like Candy-O, I am amazed that the music people don't realize why sales are down. We need a new "New Wave".

  • the cars ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @waxartist72 close to mine Trex, Roxy Music The smiths, peter doherty

  • freshman yr in college...man I totally got into the Cars.

  • Vargas was a great artist.:)

  • gets my heart pumpin

  • Very cool retro song

  • I did years ago when it first came out ,and it was on vinyl :) . Remember vinyl ??

  • I love this tune now and then! it ROCKS! another great Boston band!

  • Oh f. I'm feeling de-centralized, but I still like this song.

  • my boyfriends fave song

  • his voice is so good, deep but harmonious.

  • This my favorite cars song ,and for some reason you NEVER hear it on the radio !!

  • @lakeg41 It's my fave as well. Just saw them in concert in Minneapolis last night at First ave. No CandyO!!!!

  • @dilevie i know its because Ben did vocals on this song, i heard no drive either. Im going to see them in NYC May 25th. I so wish Ben Orr was still around : (

  • @lakeg41 @ 104.3 i think plays this over hear in NY. but i do have the Cd

  • I lost 15lbs dancing to this album for a month straight back in the 80's haha

  • "Peculiar star, that's who you are--do you have to win?"

  • I listened to this in sixth grade and still do today, awesome.
