  • @ichnusaful I would have given anything to hear Ella sing. It's a lesson; when you sense an living artist is truly great, don't let anything get in the way of getting to at least one performance.

  • @hogomeiko An artist like Ella, or Billie or Sarah or Peggy is like a divinity for me, they were made of music. Thank to you hogomeiko!! Viva la musica, tutta la musica!!!!

  • I was only 10 back then...I wish I was introduced to this earlier....

....Ella is in my heart for ever....I will meet her one day... I will ask her to take all of me....hehehee

  • I hope the 12 people who disliked left a reason, if not take a music history class and see all of the artists that have trickled down because of this one magnificent artist!

  • I hope the 12 people who disliked left a reason, if not take a music history class and see allof the artists that have trickled down because of this one magnificent artist!

  • 12 people dislike this... fucking bieber fans ¬_¬

  • @tamaragranger dommage une femme formidable!!!!!!

  • from 00 to 01:10 its very sweet

but after that i could not understand it

  • @EROOERHELLO it's called scat...

  • @EROOERHELLO She is vocally improvising ,much like a trumpet or sax, using nonsense syllables.

  • бодренько

  • she is fantastic!

  • Great music is great music. Why waste time and energy in quibbling about an artist's unique God given spin on a particular selection? Enjoy and Chill Out!

    Peace!

  • Гений.

  • i love her . shes the epitome of a well blessed singer of all time. very classy and well respected in her own craft. i salute her.

  • Viva... :) Fantastic Ella.....

  • I was flipping channels last night and heard redfox singing this but i think he changed the words. He said take my arms i wont use them, take my lips i want to bruise them. I thought that was so cute but i guess those aren't the words offically...lol!

  • @sweetnspicy17 red foxx was a nassstayy man. i wish i could find more of his uncensored stuff.

  • GO head' Ella!

  • Wish people could just sit back an enjoy instead of criticizing...awesome tune

  • i still like the old style that louis armstrong had. this version sounds to happy.

  • Thanks God for Ella

  • Magnifique !

  • hpoe you have a great Thanks Giving.

  • I have a question, who wrote this and performed it originally, I've heard so many versions Frank Sinatra,Willie Nelson,Nofx,Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Michael Buble etc.

  • @DrAbstracked It is a jazz standard, meaning lots of artists have played their own renditions of it, and if you are a jazz musician you will probably have to know how to play it. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons.

  • Dear @DrAbstracked, the first performance of All of Me was from Ruth Elting, an actress I can remember in an old movie with James Cagney. I know her version and we really can´t compare it with Ella´s, Armstrong, Sinatra & others. But she has the merit to be the first.

  • @DrAbstracked Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons in 1931.

  • She lives for ever !

  • Hope I'm still singing when I am that age. Thanks for your years of service, Ella. R.i.P. We love you!!!

  • @zomzilove i think the same thing when i watch these vids of pros in their later years. tom jones is another. 40 year career & making new music. that's living right there.

  • Love Ella <3

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH THE END?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!

    Amazing Ella

  • Nice. But no big finish?

  • ? Where did the end go ?

  • AAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!! I love her!!!!!

  • I have nothing but praise for her!

  • Classy and timeless!

  • amazing :O

  • Love her!sO GORGEOUS!

  • As a male singer myself, I like Frank's version a lot, but Ella is just SO GREAT!!!

  • Ella was amazing. I wish she had recorded more with small groups with out there front and center. Anyone remember those commercials, is it live or it it Memorex, with Ella shattering a wine glass? hehe

  • It is amazing how good Ella Fitzgerald sounded at about 67 when she performed here. She passed at 79 in 1996.

  • Never ceases to amaze me how good Ella was. her contol was outstanding.

  • Where has good music gone these days?

  • Increible !! Me encanta !!

    Patricia Rolland

  • Wow! I wish I was there when Ella was alive.

  • I love Ella!

  • There is no comparison between Ella and Billie because both were great in their own right.

  • nope because Cleo Laine is the queen ;)

  • whose cleo laine??¡???' shes none .... you don´t have an idea about you´re talking about.....

  • @CaptainBlaine that's right. except my dead dog could sing better than billie.

  • @steelyfan147 I'm shocked firstly that you would dare post that, and secondly that there wasn't an avalanche of outraged, guilt-ridden, tone-deaf white folks calling you names for- gasp!- speaking the truth. Billie's talent was storytelling, & when telling the story of a trainwreck it helped to sound like a trainwreck. Therein comes white guilt- how did that happen? Surely it couldn't have been her own choice! But Ella- golden voice, perfect diction, and Ella style. A pro who gave her best.

  • @CaptainBlaine you're absolutely correct. both were equally amazing but were totally different singers so you can't really compare them.

  • @CaptainBlaine Plus it seems the world was big enough for both of them, actually we could probably do with a few more too.

  • I Like it, Thanks for sharing :-)

  • I love her...

    What a great artist!!!

  • billie sings forlorn... ella scats... I still love to listen to both of these amazing singers

  • Ella went a bit too swing on this one, Billie's was better. Interesting take on it, though!

  • @homeworld4

Why argue? They were two dif'rent singers. Would you compare Elvis to Pavarotti? Na!

  • best singer ever

  • beautiful standard

  • I am not going to rate between Billie and Ella, because I prefer Billie to sing songs such as Sophisticated Lady and Strange Fruit. Billie has a uniqueness their. But Ella's voice on some songs sweep me away. Not this song though. Her slower songs are the ones that do me in.

  • @franksinatra34

    I agree with you.

  • i cant see joe pass there

  • ella is up there ( aka: she's one of the best )

  • 4u! babe...yak

  • "Once, when we were playing at the Apollo, Holiday was working a block away at the Harlem Opera House. Some of us went over between shows to catch her, and afterwards we went backstage. I did something then, and I still don't know if it was the right thing to do - I asked her for her autograph." (from official webside od Ella) but....

in 1943 Esquire magazine made a enquiry where people said that Billie is the best singer before Mildred Bailey and Ella Fitzgerald so... :)

  • @TheMaybelater Becaue Billie was better..she had better style..Ella's a bit contrived and corny. Ella's like a broadyway show.

  • Alan62651, yes, you of course are right, my post was joke-respond to jpsilenzi. I like different music styles, different singers, so don`t by angry, show some sense of humor :)

  • Can't understand why some people persist in "rating" artists of different styles against each other. I can't think of a more foolish waste of time. Musicians are different because people are different. Viva la difference!

  • @Alan62651 very well said! apreciate every version as a unique interpetation :)

  • @Alan62651 i agree!Just listen what you want to ;)

  • Amazing job, as usual! I'm a jazz singer and she is my role model!

  • Some people may say that Billy was better then Ella, but those are their dreams :)

Ella was the best singer in all history of music :) The rest became after Ella!! This is it! Amen :)

  • I really like Billie's much more.

  • God how I miss Ella, she was an awesome singer in every meaning of the word

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! but billlie is better she has more emotion billie holiday

  • Great!

  • Look this moves, listen this voice!

    Ella is THE MUSIC!!!!

    I love her!!!!

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • eip< sadly she is long gone as the rest of the GREAT singers

  • true.. lots of are gone, but some are still alive remember al jarreau ;) ( sry if he is not ur favourite style, but yeah he definitely knows how to sing/ scat)

  • is ella still alive

  • no she died 13 years ago...=\

  • her voice is more less the same as how was when she was younger isnt it?

  • OMG!!even at that age????? her voice seems not to change at all! I lllovvveeeet!!!!

  • Her voice definitely aged along with her--still an amazing vocalist and quite possibly one of the best scatters of all time!

  • my goodness, there is no quite possibly about it. she was THE best scatter of all time and sets the standard.

  • BTW: ella was the FIRST!! scatter! she brought this to jazz! she even got better in her "older" days, she is and was one of the bester EVER!!! and she is my idol. no one comes clos to her thanks for the music ella

  • actually louis armstrong was the first person to record scat on a song. the story goes that he was in the studio singing and accidently knocked the music off the stand and couldn't stop so he just started making up stuff. scat, however, was common in the street music. ella is certainly the one who turned scat into it's own artform though.

  • tumpetking86: you are completely right, i now finished the biography of ella and it is totally clear that louis was the first. on the other side ella brought this style ofmusic to perfection ... just for my opinion.. thanks for your comment

  • do u know was song is?

alguien sabe cual fue la primera cancion que se grabo scat?

  • Ella did great things for jazz, withouth a doubt, but it sounds like you need a history lesson. Have you heard of Louis Armstrong? while in a recording session in 1926 for "Heebie Jeebies," he dropped his music. in those days, recording was expensive so he continued without words. Most people consider this the first scat solo in jazz, and He (yes, He warrants capitalization) certainly brought it to prominence.

  • i see this was already adressed. my apologies for the redundant comment.

  • Can you put up the studio version?

  • She is a big inspiration for me.I love you Ela

  • lol at 2:23, I love ella but lets say I prefer her voice when she was a bit younger :)

  • Her voice was truly an instrument... Very nice video... :)

  • Muito bem feita e com rigor de seleção de jazz.Eleisson.

  • ohh my god!

    she is the one!!

    long live ella!!!

  • i love that woman! god!

  • She's just amazing...

  • woooooooooooonderful

  • nice solo

  • Nice Solo. I transcribed the two scat-choruses. If someone is interested, send me a message ...

  • send please learninf to scat

  • Can I get those from you :-) That would be amazing ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've always thought that scat singing looks great fun, and Ella Fitzgerald does it so well. Like all of Ella's other songs, this is completely brilliant!

Thank you so much for posting this!

  • DEA --- Fantastica Grandissima ---

    Grazie

  • Did you know that Ella is the best?? Well now you know it. Ella rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am doing this song now in my jazz piano lessons. I really like this song. and totally luv Ella!

  • I'm so exicted I got the chance to sing this song on my furst concert...JEEZ..I hope Ella will approve ^_^

  • 67 to be exact. So kind of close to 70. That's intense. haha. She literally died with a voice.

  • why there are no more talents like this today

    LORD TELL ME WHY

  • My eyes always well up with tears(of joy)when I watch these videos of Ella.....!

    Thanks so much for posting!!!!!

  • Simply PERFECT!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • her voice is always heard ;)

  • i cant believe nofx covered this

  • I can't believe too...

  • I like how the black and white turns to color when the fisrt note is played.

  • The perfect creative element.

    Also, where is Joe Pass?

  • There was a supposed decline in her voice by the 80s. But I think she more than remedied that with her experience and expression. Not many singers are capable of that.

  • i NEED to find the song of ella with nelson riddle orchestra...i can NOT find it anywhere...its killing me..

  • Magnaminous

  • The one and only...Ella....

  • Grande!! .....Beat.....Swing.....

  • SWINGING.

  • love her so much

  • Elle est extraordinaire!

  • There's only one Ella, Superb

  • My long time friend Ki Allen is exceptional in this genre-check out her website- you will not be sorry! words cannot express how proud of her that I am.

  • mon00monde you haven't got the sense god gave a cracker. Billie Holiday WAS great, no doubt but Ella is the all time queen of this genre. Why? Her tone is near perfect, even at 70+ years old, she scats like a demon and, most important, she maintained her DIGNITY well into old age. My wife and I agree, modern Jazz "greats" like Diana Krall(yawn) pale in such stark contrast to the old-school ladies that you are left to wonder if Vocal Jazz is not a dead art, which sadly, it is.

  • I agree that Ella was the queen. But, there ARE still good singers out there. You just have to go out and hear live music. You've got to look harder than browsing iTunes or Amazon. The talent's there--tho' none like Miss Ella's--ya just gotta go out and find it.

  • i do not feel that ella is the great all time because sh had her own style and was more connected then alot of jazz singer like sarah vaughan she was great but she was not as connected as ella

  • Connected to what?

  • i felt read that ella had more exposure to the caucasin crowd so thats whatv really helped her also

  • man your english is a bit off. your point is getting kind of muddled

  • What are you talking about and my english is fine the computer sometimes do that when you type but like i said i have been told that she was successful because of her exposure to the white crowd during that time it meant alot with her growing up so go head about your business (sigh)

  • Spettacolare!

  • simply the best

  • Ella was great but nobody could sing All of Me like BILLIE HOLIDAY, the real greatest jazz vocalist of all time among with Anita O'Day.

  • 2:24....she's the best, nobody will ever be able to out scat Ms. Fitzgerald

  • rip ella. im gonna name my first born girl after you! scat to em' up in heaven girl!!!

  • Grande Grande ELLA FANTASTICA!!!!!!

    GRAZIE
