Mandriva it's the best operating sistem ever created,i mean you can have anything you want,XP games(counter, wow, etc),programs(yahoomess, etc)see movies and it's much more stable and the animations and effects are far more cool than windows:D.MANDRIVA RULLLEEEZZZ
i see that some programs aren't compatible with MAndriva Linux (i am new on Linux) / how can i delete folders ? & hou can i copy a folder from a partition intoo another ?
Yes its all good but i jus went back to XP, i had many problems with mandiva 2008, as it is great soft and easy to install but i miss so much biger choice of software and most importantly i was hoping that at least basics of mandriva will be very stable but it was crashing and stalling and slow for no reason. shame though. Good luck to it in the next few years!
install gnome metapackage from the package manager adn it should apprear in the options at your login window like log logout and check the tabs you can install gnome xfce e17 kde4 all at once and run each by chooseing it from the login window
mandriva is not the best the best linux is the best that fits for you and the best for power users is suse watch this video runing mac os x 10.5.1 leopard on vmware workstation /watch?v=whlXU-TFOHw
Great video! And Mandriva rocks! In my case it detected audio and nvidia gpu automatically and it was the only distro that achieved that. Sooooooooooo much faster than windows.
you know what owns this? Xp and Vista , your a fool if you only look to the GUI , and dont see the tomuch bugs of Mandriva , also Suse pwns this , its so much safer , better, quicker , and more for home usage , or companies , or whatever ^^
If you mean the reflection beneath the cube, well that's a plug-in I installed called "Cube-reflection" it lets you customize every aspect of the reflection.
you think mandriva is better than OPEN SUSE 10.3 X64 i dont think so i mean for power users of course i like alot sabayon for newbies because it comes with everything built in drivers and you can used them from the cd is a live cd and also you can use the eyecandy without any installation so for the people that is crazy about taking a first look on linux this is the best way
this is mandriva 2008 power pack right? so it already comes whit all the drivers for the computer?? or u have to install the drivers? cuz i have mandriva 2008 in my notebook but is not the power pack and i can't run the camara and the sound doesn't works :(
Yep, it is PP, I installed it on my Thinkpad T60 and everything worked out of the box, but I guess the fact that your components work or not relies on branding, I think IBM machines are used a lot on the Mandriva development and that might be why my install was smooth.
does Mandriva 2008 all ready come w/ compiz fusion, or do i have to download it separately? How much memory does Mandriva 2008 suck up?? This is such an amazing OS compared to my shity ass windows vista. ohh, are you also able to run Microsoft office on Mandriva as well??
Mandriva 2008 does come with Compiz Fusion it's there out of the box. You'll need minimum 512 MB of Ram if you have more it will fly, also need at least a 128MB graphics card. MS office is not available for any linux distribution but this OS comes with Open Office, which does everything MS does and you can even open MS Office files with the suite.
;) openoffice can also convert to pdf and any other system protocol like for the mac.. and the pdf ability (like all things linux) is totally open source and free of charge (unless you are a corporation or something)
may i have mandriva 2008 or 2009 with actual aplications or KDE 4.2 or later?

Some of the features are very similar to the new Mac interface which is setup like the itunes interface.
I still prefer my Linux Mandriva system over a Mac any day.
I think Mac and Windows are still too bloated without a lot of the control Linux gives you.
