  • VERY GROOVE!!!

  • ~ Nice ~ FUN to jam with a track

  • Nice vid. I bought your kick drum tuning video a couple months ago and tried it out on my ludwig 24" bass drum. It sounds really good but I'm getting this "kick back" from the beater that causes double hits. How do you deal with that? Will a flam pad get rid of that? Thanks and keep uploading the great drum videos!

  • @vixstixgraphics

Yes, the falam pad will help plus you need to change your foot pedal technique to eliminate the "kick back". See my "Lesson 1" on how to get the proper foot technique for this type of bass drum tuning.

  • cool song, the guitar reminds me of the intro to the old tv show knight rider

  • very clean und very goovy. You´ve got it.....

  • Hello! Love your drumming so much. Actually Chad Smith is my favorite drummer. and from his DVD, he said he loves John Bonham and Ian Paice etc. and gets lots of inspiration from them. and I see lots of your videos covering John Bonham. So how do you think of Chad Smith?

  • @victorbrrwhite

Chad is very solid and has a great groove! Thanks!!!

  • Nice control over your dynamics.

  • Where can you get tracks like this?

  • @Pearl3Drummer

I find them on the net....(torrent)

  • I would love to hear you play Zep's Candy Store Rock!! Thanks for the great vids.

  • hell i love it :))

  • Awesome!!!! THAT is what drums are supposed to sound like !

  • what ride is that?

  • On second listen.. you are the smoothest/best drummer I have ever seen/heard. That roll at :50 is bad-ass.

  • excellent dan!

  • very much in my style and into my heart.

  • @drumsanddrumming

you put a big smile on my face :) Thanks for watching!

  • awesome dude

  • thanks for all your lessons, play alongs etc. i really like your channel a lot.

im looking forward to get new cymbals. i think the 2002s are very nice. do they crack fast? and if they last long, do you have any technique to protect them and make them last so long?

thanks, keep up the awesome work!

    greetings from germany,

    David

  • @beatsundreime

Well, I had my first crack on the 18" crash but it lasted 20 years with heavy playing. Still have all the other cymbals from back then and they are fine. The Paiste Rude series was meant for extremely heavy hitting and would probably last a lifetime but I've always loved the sound of the 2002 series.

  • Damn man!!! You're smooth!!! I want to record you on real tape! You have some amazing pressure control. Just LOOK at those heads! The pattern is so tight, and barely a scar. That is a real good sign of a great drummer.

  • @analyzingfunny

Thank you so much for the kind words!

  • @jsant1111

they are office dividers that that i put casters on

  • looks like the Speed King is MIA

  • @zepvista

lol, not missing just taking a break while I experiment

  • I like how you injected an old school vibe to a contemporary sounding backing track.

  • What backing track is this Dan?

Was this your musician friends or did you create it?

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

you can find it on my site in the drumless section...look for "funk groove.mp3". Just something I found but I'm getting ideas of creating some original material.

  • amazing sound (as always...) but you should get a room mic like Bonham!

  • @MarkusGronroos

thank you...there is a room mic Rode NT1A

  • speaking of pedals i was going to get the pearl eliminator 2000c single pedal. Which one do you have and what do you like most about it? love the vid by the way

  • @sammyb1981

I have the eliminator 2000 and I what I love most is the adjustability and smooth action. Built to last plus I'm partial to Pearl because I played one hard in the 90s for at least a decade and I still have it. Works great still but kinda rusted!

  • @sammyb1981

    thanks

  • You, Sir, are genius!!! Wow!

  • @laauuurrrr

Thank you for these kind words!

  • funk master : D

  • @722erodz

    :) thanks

  • Hum...I see your back to the ole Pearl Eliminator again eh? I like my Ludwig Speed king too. But I found my Yamaha Flying Dragon is hard to let go of.

Im surprised someone hasn't picked you up to do some work with something really...

    Good drummer man!

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

Yes, the Pearl feels real nice. Next pedal i'm going to get is the CAMCO reissue. I used to play the Camco in the 80s and remember how much i liked it.

I get asked to join bands quite often but nothing stroked my interest yet....i'm thinking to start my own project with original material.

    Thanks a lot brother!

  • good job! well done, maestro

  • Those 2002 cymbals are SO SMOOTH...

  • Dude, super tight playing and you have amazing groove indeed!!

  • Great drumming!

  • sold your speedking?

  • @shockwavenl1

    still have it

  • Nice Dan I like it

  • right on Dan! Nice groove ..

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

    thanks!

  • Maybe try some clear emperors on those toms, with clear ambassadors on the bottom. I can't stay with one drumhead for the toms, i change all the time, i get bored quite quickly lol. Always an emperor on my 402 snare though, i'm using a black suede emperor on my 402 at the moment, sounds sweet.

  • @scott111193

i have tried that config and it has a little more bottom end, i like it also but the coated heads have more snap and a natural tone imo

If you can, try one of those reissue remo vintage coated emperors on your snare and let me know what you think...

  • @GrooveDrummin Cool, i had coated emperors on my toms last time round, listen to the video on my channel called 'Scott Whisker', the toms have coated emperors on them on that video and a couple of the others, but the 12" tom sound is quite nice in that particular video. I will give the Vintage Emperor a go i think. I am very close to buying a Ludwig Coliseum in natural finish second hand, how has your one been?

    Thanks

    Scott

  • Beautiful sound. It wouldn't be so god for music that I play, but I really like it.

  • kewl.

  • Nice nice nice groove ! Where did you found this track ? I find it very cool and would like to play over it !! thx for your answer, keep on drumming !

  • @Coin3103

i will post to my site for this drumless to download...Thanks!

  • @GrooveDrummin Thanks for this quick answer and for the idea to share this track ! Have a good day

  • @Coin3103

This drumless track is now available for download.

look for - (funk groove.mp3) on my website.

  • @GrooveDrummin You sir are the man, I love your vids. I'm always looking forward to your next videos, keep it up :)

  • @kornfanatic1303

    coolness

  • very cool! I'm having real challenges with my foot work, how do you play heel up on both feet and keep you balance? I just keep falling to one side all the time and maintain a pattern, I've been playing on & off for 10years and specifically practising footwork patterns every day for nearly 2 years now and haven't even got past 45bpm 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 notes on my bass pedal! Very close to selling my gear and quiting I'm so demoralised!

  • @nigelregan Dude,I'm having same problems lol,i have to play heel down on hi hat (left foot)

  • @AlterBridgefanc it's so demoralising, I don't understand why I'm not making any progress, I know drummers who in two years have been totally transformed and yet i can't even play consistent 1/16th notes at 50bpm with either bass or hi-hat, I've spent a lot of money on different training videos and had lessons but no one has seemed to be able to help so far, I've tried heel up, heel down, slide, heel-toe, 6 different pedals with almost zero improvement. So close to giving up :-(

  • @nigelregan dont give up man, cant play consistant 16th on bass drum aswell...cant get over 55...dude it just needs practice, you can't do consistant 16th with slide tech, slide is mostly for just fast double stroke.PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE man!

  • @AlterBridgefanc thanks mate, appreciate the feedback, your post with the others I got here have really encouraged me to just keep on plugging away. Big Thanks for the info about the 16th note slides, that makes so much sense, hadn't heard that before and it feels right to just keep them for quick doubles. Awesome mate, thanks heaps brother.

  • @nigelregan hey man it's alright, some people can get it really easy, and others have a hard time. You just need to be patient and just practice where ever you are, or, what always helps me is just finding a comfortable place while you are drumming, relax, and just start jamming, that is usually how i end up learning things quickly and finding some of my best riffs. I used to have terrible timing on my hi hat, but now i have improved greatly both on that and the bass. Practice man :D

  • @EZCreepin your response & others here has really given me a renewed enthusiasm, I think I have been trying to be too regimented in my routine maybe. I had a quick little jam this morning using 50bpm 1/4, 1/8. 1/16 in a basic 4/4 groove with fills and yeah it felt much better. It certainly was much more fun than just playing bass & Hi-hat note patterns for 1 hour! many many thanks for your help mate, really appreciate it.

  • @nigelregan no problem, sometimes people just try to do too much and forget about just groovin on the set. Once you start groovin, then you build up confidence as you make up random riffs, and how it happened for me, you could groove into a riff that needs a consistent hi hat with some bass fills and then you just kind of jazz it up all around the kit, and somewhere you just learned a technique and didnt even realize it xD

  • @EZCreepin awesome! :-)

  • @nigelregan

do you have a video of your drumming so I could watch? I might be able to help better if I could see what's happening.

  • @GrooveDrummin that would be awesome, I'll make a video over the weekend, if you could look at it and give me some pointers I wud be very very grateful

  • @nigelregan don`t give up. I`ve been playing for 40 years and still learning. Somedays I hate playing and the next it`s heaven again. Don`t forget why you started. We all play bad from time to time

  • @drumsanddrumming yep, I see what you mean, my drumming has been all over the place although just this last week I had one of those breakthrough moments we get from time to time. Changed my starting position for my foot and ankle on the pedal and Bingo! my bass pedal speed and timing improved 100 fold. Thanks mate :-)

  • @nigelregan glad to hear.

  • @AlterBridgefanc

do you actually fall or slip off of the seat?

  • @nigelregan

don't sell anything...when you say balance, in what way do you lose it?

  • @GrooveDrummin haha, ok I'll keep my gear! the responses here have been very humbling, I'm really grateful. Heel up my balance shifts and I can feel tension in my abdomen.core. I float the beater. When I raise my left foot for a hi-hat note my whole upper body is unstable & rocks either left or right depending on where most of my weight is at the time. If I bury the beater or play heel down balance is ok but my notes are really poor and I'm puttin in lots of time but must be practising wrong?

  • @nigelregan try to alter the height of your seat, could be part of the problem.

  • u stay in the groove as well as anyone i have ever heard.

  • if you played that with a 22 kick it would be a diffrent song that 26 just warms everything up i swear

  • third!

    and funky schweet!

  • Really groove! Like it!

  • Cool!

  • That ending :D

    So sick!

  • First.... and

    beautiful sounding Drum set
