this is a great video! I am 2nd generation Okinawan American, i am part of the Pensacola Okinawan kenjinkai. My mother is Okinawan & my father is from Baltimore. i have had a great interest in both of my families histories and culture. thanks for sharing this, i'll pass it along to my friends
A very touching video. I have read couple books on OKinawa since I left home (Okinawa). In my heart I believe I am Okinawan even though I am born with a Father who is Fillipino. Never really had that much of an interest in History of Okinawa while I lived there, but really missed the culture when I myself married an American and came to U.S. My mothers story of her childhood brings back memories as I listen to these story.
This is the exactly Honjo san wants to do in written form. She has been asking the similar project for last 2 years. It is wonderful other Kenjin Kai is also doing that too.
Thank you for posting this Tom. It was truly a collaborative project. Technically it was produced by Crosswater Media (he did all the film editing) but directed by our team of project advisors you listed in the description.
This is serving as a great piece of research for my final paper on transnationalism this semester!! thank you for sharing your stories!
