Whoa, this is new! Back then when I was playing this game, they had the same music as the east one. Guess lots has changed ever since. Pretty neat song! :)
@54spiritedwill54 this is from Wings of the goddess, 9S) designates the past (during the crystal war) and a lot of zones have all new music in the past, freaking awesome
Man too bad they ruined the game by raising the level and making shit easier to get, takes out the fun of the game... I wonder what they were thinking pulling a stunt like that, only thing people do these days is abyssea which sucks
@GavinSylliboy What really ruined the game was significant drops in player population with no steady flow of new players coming to the game. On top of that, players were very geared, they no longer needed gear from certain content so they would not attend those events any longer. Abyssea was the only way to bring a little bit of life back into this game and give those players who already had everything something to do.
yes excellent music.... HOWEVER perhaps looking back the ENTIRE massive amount of time accumulated (1000s of Hrs) just playing this F'ING AMAZING AND BEYOND ADDICTIVE GAME (even better on vicodin or drinking)..... just days weeks months DISAPEARED!!!! maybe want some back.... or maybe i wanna go back and replay them the same way i did....
So many memories with friends, grinding levels, farming in Sea Serpent Grotto, exploring and just listening to the music. It is unfortunate they changed the game the way they did or I'd still be playing.
All in all, for me personally, FFXI was incredible in more ways than one. As much as I want to come back, it just wouldn't be the same... Everyone i knew/linkshell are no longer around and the game has changed a lot. This game was the only good thing about high school, when you had no real responsibilities, and you could sit and just camp Leaping Lizzy for hours (the days before they made the boots bind on pickup; I hated that btw). I'm hopin their be another MMORPG that had the same impact
@cb9603 Oh yeah...I hadn't thought about that. It's true though, the linkshell might not be there anymore ;( This game was the best and first mmo I've ever played
@kittenfairy2011 Yep! The urge to play finally beat me and after reading up on all the new stuff that has come out and how ridiculously easy it's become to enjoy the game I once loved without worries of a burned out community were put far behind me. The game, if anything, is far more livelier now than it ever has been. You should come back! :) I HIGHLY recommend coming to the Phoenix server and joining Reformation. Ideal linkshell for returning veterans/newcomers! We get one or two a day no joke
I miss the old vanadiel. It cannot be duplicated or simulated with the current vanadiel. I miss the trains of mobs. Long grinds to 75. Not knowing where to party next. When jeuno was the town to be at. /sigh, i really wish FF14 was good... i want to be a noob again.
Indeed. Though they are improving the state of FFXIV at an acceptable rate at the moment. They called in the team that worked on XI to make XIV actually playable; the 1.18 patch content features fast combat, immediate response time with attacks / spells, strategy in combat, raids, beastmen camps, new ways to level and removing the stamina and exp penalties. In addition to making leves take a back seat to story and party content and a new materia system. The plans look great.
Sanctuary of Zi'tah and Sarutabaruta [s] will leave you feeling nostalgic for days and days!! but it is time (or getting there) to move on. @Xavieric311 That is the one thing I fear of FFXIV, I loved the music so much of the FFXI and it was a MMO that had a good story, I want XIV to be good. Also the "tarutaru" race of XIV don't have the same charm... Btw your name is really close to mine lol.
@Xenicus31 The music will be by the same composer, and since I'm in beta I can already tell you the music is AMAZING. I haven't heard a lot yet, and I don't think anything has touched Sarutabaruta [s] or Sanctuary yet... but I have NO doubt it will. XIV is brand new, and it won't be FFXI...but it WILL grow on you and you'll come to love it for years to come!
@Xenicus31 Wow are names are a little TO similar lol. Anyways, I'm a week into XIV and let me tell you... the cut scenes and storyline so far are incredible. I hate to say it, but definitely blows FFXI out of the water, and I'm just 15 levels in! I've only scratched the surface on the different zone music, but that is just as incredible. The game is just so awesome. If you got a machine that can run it, I highly recommend getting it ASAP. You'll never look back...trust me. Epic!
@Xavieric311 Okay off topic to the music but still XIV related. SInce there is the gradient of the percentage of exp you can get in a week/sitting, can you still increase the proficiency in a certain "job" after the exp rate is 0%? One more thing, about how fast does the skill in a job decrease? I was kind of confused with the skills thing. not the attaching them part, It is just you being an automaton from XI, skills instead of parts. (i loved PUP though most didn't)
@Xenicus31 Well, no once you hit 0% in a particular job you won't get experience points until some time has passed. But let me tell you, I was worried about this too. But it is EXTREMELY hard to hit 0%. You'd literally would have to grind the same job 6+ hours a day to hit it. I mean in the first WEEK people got their jobs to lvl 20+, which means 8 hours a day of just that one job played. If you are worried about the fatigue system, don't be. It's really hard to reach the 0%.
@Xavieric311 Oh okay. Well I would play it on PC but I am waiting for the PS3 version... It will be prettier compared to my current PC. not just prettier but just run better in general. Just like everything else you have said so far, It makes me feel better towards the game and less worried. Lame PS3 version comes out months after PC. Ohwell...
@Xenicus31 I agree i waiting on PS3 aswell but my sister is playing on pc she went an got a new pc just to play it time it can out i made my char tho those but it killing me to wait till next year in march i think but i not paying for a pc when i got a ps3 that crazy i stick with ffxi till it comes out
@AsaSi1987 I am waiting to play it. @Xavieric311 is currently playing it. I he is in beta. I am waiting for it to come out on the PS3, as my current PC wouldn't handle it as well.
ah I remember going to this place just for the music, I would put on my whm af pants and shoes with event red dress top and matching sunglasses and red staff on my mithra, ran to the hill and sat down looking where the sun would set with those cute lil lycos near me the whole time just to relax to this music ^^
@Guitarist500 If you noticed, there is an [S], which means Shadowreign Era, Meaning this is Vana'diel in the past, assuming you arent in the right zone you obviously played the Wings Of The Goddess expansion you should get it, beutiful music there.
this isn't the song for west sarutabaruta. I just went there today and it's certainly not the song at all. the song for this area is simply titled 'sarutabaruta'
@jagosto5 ohh my bad. I have all the expansions, and I'm in winderst, so I have to go to jueno and use the cavernous maw and then I'm able to use the one in winderst. thanks a lot!
One of the best songs from WotG. Something I love about all of the WotG soundtrack songs is that they specifically tried to make songs that resembled those from the original FFXI OST, and you know what? They succeeded. You could take these songs and place them into the OST and they'd fit the theme perfectly even to this day.
its part of the Wings of the Goddess expansion. Pretty basically: the [S] stands for Shadowrealm , which is when the great war was happening. There are these ugly portals that take u back to that time.
S stands for Safehold. It's a way of telling apart the present "Southern San d'Oria" to the past.. "Southern San d'Oria [S]. I didn't think the S stood for shadowrealm.. but a lot of people seem to think so.
Aye... This game is something unique and every so often I recollect my memories and desire to return. I really want to go back and maybe I will. ~From: Ramuh Server
The game style changes alot as you progress through the game. When your low lvl battles are slow and long.. but I promise you when your 75 and fighting the biggest bosses in game you wish it would slow down .. lol Or when your 75 and doing chain 200+ tp burn parties.. slow isn't an option. FFXI is #1 in my eyes and always will be. Thank you
Yea I can't help but agree with you Bidon. I've been playing FFXI on and off for years, and it's story telling and vibrant world really are unparalleled. But the battle system compared to a certain blizzard game I'm thinking of just feels clunky and a bit outdated. Still, this is the game that has my heart.
you mean a battle system thats made for 8 year olds? The battle system was made to be familiar with players of the old ff games, while putting it into an active enviroment. It could use a few changes, maybe something like what ffxii has, in which you do a sort of "pre command" before the action is made, but ffxi is made to be incredibly realtime (to go so far as moon cycles and star signs days weeks months years off ffxi time). Wow fits into todays 1-0 spam mmo games imo. FFXI is different.
I started up a new account just a few days ago. They changed a lot since 2003 (when I last played) but it's all been for the better so far. I'm in love once again!
<333333 this song. I sometimes just sit in the zone to listen to this song (save when a campaign battle ensues). West Ronfaure [s] is nice too :) ~Miaa; Fairy Server
damn my home city is windy when i hear that 20 years ago windy was destroyed i instatly got to past and saw windy i feled so sad my home city destroyed
i actually started crying when i first got to saruta in the past. made me sad thinking of all the battles going in there with such pretty music. i'm such a sucker for game drama ;;
saruta's music is so sad ; ; because of all the chaos and lives lost during the destruction of it's inner city. but then it picks up a bit, like it's saying "we can overcome this tragedy!" I'm a real windy nut <3...
Cool doesn't sound very different from the 'non[S]' version probably just because the same instruments aree used though (at least that's what it sounds like).
Didn't mean to spam ... but forgot to post what reason did I noticed the first 50*(30 second is too early lol) seconds was a little sad. It seems to have the soothing side I mention, but I somehow picked it up as soothing over sad. While the rest started having the higher pitched noise that made me think chirpy.
when i bought WotG I was so excited about zoning into saruta to hear the music! The cs for WotG missions so far are getting very good! The male mithra really shocked me!
I actually read an interview with SE where they discussed what they would like to do with future expansion packs and one of them was to go to the other continents like the story between the Galka and Gigas and an expansion about the mithra home land which would be so good so I'm guessing there :)
i love ffxi and most of its music and all..but does anyone feel that theres a part of this song stolen right from Jurassic Park (2:26)? it gets me everytime xD
that's weird, I never heard this song in the short while that I played ffxi, and I was in sarutabaruta alot..?? I wish I had though, this song is absolutely beautiful!
Woot i thought i was the only person who thought this music has a sad side to it when i first zoned into Sarutabaruta [S] ages ago. Glad to see someone felt the same most of my friends didn't really sense it
Now that you mention it. I started listening to it for a while I noticed a little bit of that too. I find it funny.
I notice the closer i get to listening to the first thirty seconds or so it is composed mainly of of the wind instrument(can't exactly pick up which one)
But as we get past the 30 second+ it starts sounding a little playful because of the instruments... can't tell what the instrument that accompanies the wind instrument... kind of like a xylophone... yet kind of like a piano lol.
My favorite Area music in FFXI hands down. And i thought Zi Tah would always be my favorite...

It would be #1 in the world in my eyes if the combat was just more dynamic and faster.
Bidon45 3 years ago 5
Yes, everyone has their own favorite style of play. I prefer the 'slow' battle system :) I think it gives you more options for strategies ^^
Of course sometimes the usual hack'n'slay is good ^^
Koosjuh 3 years ago 5

Still, this is the game that has my heart.
n1ch0l45 2 years ago
you mean a battle system thats made for 8 year olds?

West Ronfaure [s] is nice too :) ~Miaa; Fairy Server

i actually started crying when i first got to saruta in the past. made me sad thinking of all the battles going in there with such pretty music. i'm such a sucker for game drama ;;
hiswhitewings 3 years ago
this sounds soothing and peaceful rather then sad to me and makes me feel calm and at ease when I listen to this.

When I first heard this music, I was running by a battle so I heard alot of grunts and groans.
Then I heard 2:05-2:10
And I thought Jurassic Park was on XD

saruta's music is so sad ; ; because of all the chaos and lives lost during the destruction of it's inner city. but then it picks up a bit, like it's saying "we can overcome this tragedy!" I'm a real windy nut <3...

Cool doesn't sound very different from the 'non[S]' version probably just because the same instruments aree used though (at least that's what it sounds like).
Yaunie13 3 years ago
Didn't mean to spam ... but forgot to post what reason did I noticed the first 50*(30 second is too early lol) seconds was a little sad. It seems to have the soothing side I mention, but I somehow picked it up as soothing over sad. While the rest started having the higher pitched noise that made me think chirpy.
takerukari 3 years ago
plz could u post Windurst S music too
Kaous10 3 years ago
I like this song ^^. Chirpy, yet soothing at the same time. Just like the present Saruta bgm.

when i bought WotG I was so excited about zoning into saruta to hear the music! The cs for WotG missions so far are getting very good! The male mithra really shocked me!

Agreed, wounder where he's at in the present. *is leaning towards kazham*
Alchemy777 3 years ago
I actually read an interview with SE where they discussed what they would like to do with future expansion packs and one of them was to go to the other continents like the story between the Galka and Gigas and an expansion about the mithra home land which would be so good so I'm guessing there :)
lesoulboy 3 years ago
hmm but i saw a hut in kazham that you couldn't get into.... :/ Ah well sounds cool tho

i love ffxi and most of its music and all..but does anyone feel that theres a part of this song stolen right from Jurassic Park (2:26)? it gets me everytime xD
Shtever20 3 years ago
As soon as I zoned in, I knew this would be one of my favorite songs :) It's a hard competition between this and SanDoria [S]
ashricat 3 years ago 2
The soundtrack with the music is out now. The name of this track is "The Cosmic Wheel" while the Windurst Waters [S] music is "Stargazing".

Woot i thought i was the only person who thought this music has a sad side to it when i first zoned into Sarutabaruta [S] ages ago. Glad to see someone felt the same most of my friends didn't really sense it
brolijc 3 years ago
Now that you mention it. I started listening to it for a while I noticed a little bit of that too. I find it funny.
I notice the closer i get to listening to the first thirty seconds or so it is composed mainly of of the wind instrument(can't exactly pick up which one)
But as we get past the 30 second+ it starts sounding a little playful because of the instruments... can't tell what the instrument that accompanies the wind instrument... kind of like a xylophone... yet kind of like a piano lol.
