  • I cannot believe this song never charted, anywhere in the world, for any artist. That is just inconceivable, because it's such a well known song.

  • BEE GEES for ever.

  • watch?v=K0Q62O65FZA

  • Fashawn & Exile "The Ecology"

  • Love u ,Robin -more than u can imagine. I'd say - you are the song. You've got a very classy style.

  • actually, they were born in England, but grew up in Australia

  • @URDEggMen They were born on the Isle of Man, not England. The island is not part of the United Kingdom.

  • @MoviMakr bien pues al menos esa isla ya tiene idolos .

  • This was the B side of "New York Mining Disaster", their first English single, and a much better song. Their first album was the best. Bonus points for naming the fourth guy on the album cover-he was their drummer, initials C.P. (Even more points for naming their guitarist, who was also a Bee Gee for awhile...initials V. M.)

  • @interestingfailure OK the drummer was Colin Peterson, and the guitar player was Vince Melouney, and the third thing that you are right about is this track,as good as "Mining Disaster" was, this tune was so ahead of it's time and the melody and changes in the intro were so eerie and haunting. One of my favorites from them. I'm glad I grew up in the 60's,I actually had a chance to see them 4 times, and once with a 52 piece orchestra,so you can imagine how this tune came off. The song is in E .

  • CHEF SUKA YE.ADA PENINGKATAN.

  • Best of Bee Gees came out in 1969 and this song was on Bee Gees 1st which came out in 1967.

  • @loone248 - Dear fucker, tell me which song do you think is better than this one ?

  • To : loone248, Dear fucker, tell me which song do you think is better than this one ?

  • I first heard this song on a juke box in an RAF hanger in Goose Bay, Labrador. RAF crewmen had already heard of the Bee Gees. It was in the SPRING of 1967. It was one of those songs that stopped you in your tracks. I was only 19. Robin and Maurice are younger than me, so, to appreciate just how good they were and are, they might have been as young as 17 when they RECORDED this GREAT song, because it would have taken a while before a song got put on a juke box way up in Goose Bay, Labrador.

  • "I Can't See My Friends" was a song By The Dominos In 1968.

  • I will any day prefer the Beegees as they were before Saturday Night Fever

  • Need more of this sound in the world~damn!!! They were so smooth/good~if you know their history~you would truely unstand all great bands~j

  • bee gees will always be on my memories till the end of time. melody fair film songs reminds me of my school days

  • no offence bliss n eso are better lonely streets

  • Beautiful....I love the background strings too.

  • Ecology

  • before Saturday Night Fever there was the Bee Gees featuring the unique vocal talent that is Robin Gibb - timeless music not the over produced electronically enhanced rubbish that seems to dominate the music scene today

  • @MrKevinsweeney Well said sir.

  • this goes back to my early teens, GOD long ago and far away

  • Get back to sleep Rip Van Winkle, you are in the wrong lane.

  • Very good song, reminds me a bit of Van Morrison

  • They made great records....this is the Bee Gees!!!

  • oks na oks

  • is this the version used in the simpsons movie?

  • I have this album on an 8 track tape I bought in 1969........Bee Gees and Creedence Clearwater were my life's soundtrack back then.

  • @casper1918 What great soundtracks to have as a backdrop to your life, both brilliant bands!

  • i'm looking for the songs,"I must have lost the road?" and "Billy had a bomb?"

  • @maskellenge5 They were on the album "To Whom It May Concern" released in 1972 it shouldnt prove too difficult to obtain, actually I believe I have a mint copy CD unplayed.

  • Did Barry do these orchestral arrangements on their early work? They were just beautiful?

  • @pborrellij It was Bill Sheperd that produced the early work, I think they began producing their own albums in 1976

  • lovely song

  • finely i found it,i've searched for this song for like 1 year :S

    p.s. check out theroserosalie :D :D

  • i love you robin and that's all i can say..

  • lol@bliss and eso telling me bout this song.

  • how could you not fall in love with the sound of his voice and the words of the song..? if only robin had to sing this song for me.... i could have married him everyday of my life.

  • the best nad ever the bee gees, brothers Gibb were and forever be the best ones, no doubt, not even tne beatles are superior. noooooo way!!!!!!!!!!!!! how many wonderful songs such as this beauty, I can´t see nobody

  • Shame the title is gramatically incorrect

  • Cool!! this is a good bee gees song and its the sample to "The Ecology" by Fashawn.

  • All of my Bee Gees got blocked. This old Bee Gee stuff is good.

  • Barry and Robin should be held in the same reguards as John and Paul!!

  • @univibe23 Without a doubt

  • Am I really the only one who wishes the Small Faces had gotten royally pissed one night and ripped into this one at twice the tempo with the tape rolling?

  • @narozzz Marriott had a great voice, he could have done a great cover of this, its right up his street, it has been recorded over 250 times! Bee Gees =genius.

  • awesome !

  • Awesome, it sounds as though it could have been written from the point of view of someone who had no vision, or on the flip side, someone who'd been lost and desired to be reunited with a lost loved one maybe?

  • Simply the best.....forget the rest.

  • OMG Who ever flipped this.....Amazing. 50 Owns this instrumental..

  • Oh I'm sorry, it's FoShawn

  • like they were at the time 18 or 20 years of age..remarkable...don,t know how those 4 scousers got to be so revered???? how old were they....

  • Actually, this photo must be from the late 60s like 69 etc because this song is from the First album and they were a 5 piece up until their 3rd album.

This photo is missing Vince, the lead guitarist.

  • NelsonHat, you said it all....when these guys started out, they were all....it got no better! Raw, passionate and soulful! I love this era of their music!!!

  • It tells of a love that's powerful. Written in the stars; just meant to be.

  • Such a beautiful haunting song, the lyrics are stunning, what a band the Bee Gees were.

  • @NelsonsHat do not use were. They're forever together no matter what in our minds and heart. BEEGEES FOR LIFE!!!!!

  • Cello in this?

  • Het blijft geweldige muziek die je ook een beetje doet terug denken aan toen

  • I've never been a big fan of the Bee Gee but this album is unreal much better than that later disco stuff.

  • @cookiekooke I agree completely. The Bee Gees were much better than the thrash they insisted to play in the 70s.

  • bands no matter what they have going for them at first have to keep up with the musical trend of the day or face a hard come back depending on how long the new trend lasts or if a better one they can deal with comes along. Isleys followed pfunk with who said and was able to keep going in their own style

  • The Opposit of the "Stones".. Chart toppers, just same, on OPPOSIT side of the spectrum... Gotta love 'um.. ;D

  • The very best song off of this great album. Just listening to it again brings back terrific memories of the BeeGees when they were cranking out the hits.

  • I agree with you. An amazing album , and this song is very much underrated.

  • the bee gees' brightest times!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Bee Gees have no parity, I would urge anyone that is just starting to listen to them, to get all of their albums, they are the best band I have ever seen live, or indeed listened to.

  • They aren't my favorite17DJ but they sure got my attention with their many hits. This is one of the top 10 albums of all time. So many hits from one album.

  • They really were incredible, weren't they?

  • Again I say, this Bee Gees music is more enjoyable to listen to, than their disco stuff. It is only my opinion, but this is way, way, way better.

    5*'s

  • yeah when THOUGHT of the beegees i thought of disco cocain and orgies but i just found this album and wow this is a beautiful work of art

  • agree ilooklikeppl. I'm thinking about purchasing this album now. I never knew them outside of their disco era and I'm glad to discover these gems.

  • This one of my favorite Beegees song..its the B side of New York mining Disaster 1941...but I always played it more (45's) ..I still don't understand why this was not a bigger hit... very haunting....

Thank you Robin great job on this song

    Barry

  • robin sang this one

  • ich würde so gerne ,nur einmal in meinem leßen , neßen roßin gißß stehen ,ich währe dann super stolz !ßin ein großer fan von ihm ,wünsche ihm und seiner familie ,gesundheit und ein langes leßen !!!!

  • who did the lead vocals,

  • Robin Gibb did lead vocals on this track.

  • THANX.

  • I wonder if my grandma forgot to feed her cat Horace in 1982.

  • The opening sounds like the beginning of " To Love Somebody".

Wonder if this was a follow up?

  • Robin and Maurice were only 17 when this song was recorded. I first heard it over 42 years ago. Each time I listen to it, it brings back memories of the first time I heard itn amazing song. Fantastic writing.

  • Love your HD with Bee Gees.

Wish you have more of them in HD!

  • i was in love with my first girlfriend....

  • takes me back to 1979-80-81. the iran hostages crises. when i hear this song i think of bill obluckner, he was the one we saw for 444 days blindfolded on all the mag covers time- newsweek-ect. they are not forgotten. and thank you to the people at the canadian embassy, for hideing 6 of the americans for almost 3 months, and getting them out safe.and for risking there own lives.

  • for an 18 year old teenager to write a song this awesome is godlike!!!!

  • I always thought it was Maurice Gibb's only solo song as a Bee Gees member. The accent is quite strong and unique though.

  • I just love this song. I love Robin's voice on this one. Very unique I must say.

  • The O N L Y Group more HAUNTING,and TRAGIC than ANY others !

  • Great song from great group.

  • It's a unique voice, but it went very well with the songs and the group. This is one of my favorite BeeGees songs. Brings back memories from hearing on my dad's 8track.

  • HAHAHA, thats to funny thats how I got my first taste of the Bee Gees

  • How can this be too akward? his voice his soulful and haunting, simply unique. What on earth do people want from a singer? should they all sound like Westlife? please...the Bee Gees different vocal ability is what sets them apart from other bands, its stunning!

  • @slugman2000 what's westlife?

  • @roscogre Its a place in Scotland.

  • @slugman2000 what? why should a band sound like a place?

    makes no sense at all.

  • Robin sounds really weird. But the Chorus is good.

  • Yeah, as always, this is one of his soul voices (he uses it on Still Waters for example), sort of reverbed in, strange but he makes it interesting.;)

  • Why does he sing like that?

  • He's a vibrato singer, so he makes his voice constantly change pitch and tremmor, vibrating it, as you can see when he goes high here.

A contrast is 'And The Sun Will Shine' and, of course, 'I Started a Joke', thats his normal voice, it does all of that but he doesn't put the soul effect on.;)

  • :D Thats a relatively recurring theme.

There is no other singer who mildly resembles Robin, and he was only 19 for this, pretty unique.:)

This is probably his weirdest piece of singing from 1997 on the first bit of this video, he would of been aware that it sounded very odd even for him! watch?v=XsYt_B048g0

    Special.

Have you seen I Started A Joke live? Thats normal.

He also has the worlds most feminine falsetto, only used solo once.;)

  • Two words. CARL WILSON.

  • great song love robin voice does anyone have the song -lion in winter- it was on the trafalgar album robin sings his heart out in that song I cant find it anywhere on the net someone please post it.

  • Just been listening to "Lion in Winter" this morning.I can email you an mp3 if you haven't already got a copy:)

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • Its colin Peterson, he was a drummer with the Bee Gees for a few years.

  • Does anyone know who the guy is on the far right on the album cover picture? I remember seeing him in early photos of the group, but he wasn't shown after 1968 or so. I know he's not a Gibb brother. BTW I love this song!

  • who sings most of the song?

it is such an amazing voice.

    thanks

  • Robin

  • magnificent...their early music is far superior than SNF or anything later

  • WOW!!!! i thought that "Fanny be tender" was their best lyrical song, but now since i really looked at the lyrics of this song I think that maybe, just maybe, it takes the prize!!!!

  • Some dj's thought this was the Beatles when it first came out! Great classic 60's love song! Where have they gone???

  • Fantastic! So early Bee Gees it almost seems like self parody. As an American I can barely even understand it.

  • Thanks for that comment tomasdoyle, when you get to 60 you are a bit slow picking new technology, regards aajlrrecruit.

  • Thanks for the upload...

  • Mojave888 The Bee Gees never considered themselves a disco band, that was a label given to them by the media, they simply wrote songs that represented the era they were living in. It was never planned, its just the way things worked out.

  • very well said kiss me!they never used the word disco in their songs-come to think of it neither did donna summer-and she was dubbed the queen of disco.

  • So cool, why on Earth did they go Disco???

  • @Mojave888 It was all the rage back in 1975 and for a few years after.

  • Fantastic song, spoilled only by the crap transmittion system you tube uses to send it. It would be nice to here a song right through without those dead stupid gaps.

  • sorry i wouldnt normally reply but dude its your connection not how your tube 'sends it'...

  • sorry i wouldnt normally reply but dude its your connection not how you tube 'sends it'...

  • Nothing beats the crisp sound off of a record player.

  • YESSSSSSS!!!

  • this song is a great song. BGs are the best, I am a gov. employee and live in US, have no idea how the two are related.America does not suck, but the way it is going, it will. Dear Sarcastic Bitch, When you one of these days woke up and found out that US dollar is worthless, and your job sucks, remember not to blame me, by then I'd be long gone. remember all corps in Wall Street & Silicon Valley that moved to India and China all the good jobs and all the investments, gone with them.

  • IT'S FASCINATING

I LIKE bee gees so much

but i hope to get this song with lyrics or karaoke
