He has a bit of a sad story. The Malaysian Animal Control Agency (MACA) found him dying on a road near the Bukit Kayu Hitam-Danok border crossing. This is the border going to Thailand. Apparently, some Thai gangsters had sold him to a circus owner for 1 ringgit. But when the owner tried to teach him some new tricks, liarsenemy wouldn't listen. So he shot him and left to die.
