Macs can run mac os and windows. Pcs cannot run mac os. So basically with a mac you have a mac and pc in one. Macs live much longer and don't get viruses.

My friend just got his 27" iMac so he sold me his 24" model for $500 (US dollars). It came with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz, 2GB of RAM and no hard drive. The hard drive was just $60 to get it replaced and $30 for Snow leopard, and I upgraded to 4GB of RAM for $50. So total investment was $640 for a machine that once cost $2000 and still works GREAT!

well if you make beats, its good. only thing is that its not expandable like a mac pro and especially like a audio pc ... audio PCs are highly expandable.
but if you are using a firewire hardware keyboard like yamaha motif xs and a firewire soundcard, you can only plug with a hub.

its not just the hardware, windows OS can also be tweaked for music/video production. that's why OPEN LABS sells a whole brand of professional keyboards that beat any mac.
There is no i7 for the laptop (at least a laptop version, you can put a desktop chip in it, but it will not be energy efficient.). Also os x on a 64bit/ 32bit hybrid since tiger. I do have to agree with you for expandability.
The iMac 24'' is nice. You have 1 TB but if you want to play alot of games you might have to get the Windows Vista and the iMac has only a little games unlike for the vista but overall the iMac 2.8 Ghz and 3.06 Ghz are awesome
I have the laptop version of that with the 17 inch screen with 4 gigs of RAM and with the Beta of Win 7 i played a slew of PC games plus a handful of MMOs and it worked just fine with me.
I compared the iMac 24 3.06 Ghz with the upgraded RAM and video card costing $5509. I compared the same hardware to build my own pc with Vista 64 bit. With the exact same performing parts i made it with $2200, saving $3309!

the U2410 is alright, but it sells for 900ASD. if you spent 2600 on a system, or 2200 like you said earlier that is better for you than the imac, that is wonderful, especially if you have a nice display. Benchmarks are generally better on a mac, you have a 24" LED 1200p 24 screen. it RARELY crashes and you can only have a FEW viruses and the OS doesn't use power and RAM at ALL and everything in it is very fast-clocked so you can do your tasks faster. If you want a gaming computer though, the mac is not for you.

No No, this is blatant fanboyism. I OWN an IMAC 24" 2.93. Its cost me £1,499.00 in the UK. I really like it, I use it for a mac only software called Logic Pro.
OK, I have a QUAD 3.ghz PC, with 4 gig ram, 2TB hard drive space, a 512mb nividia graphics card, dual layer 8 DVD, wireless internet, 22" monitor etc etc. It cost me a total of £1,060.
I have to be totally honest and say its much faster than my Imac and it was a lot cheaper than it to. The IMAC is not just a little more!
its ok at best a core 2 duo is very weak in desktops, good for laptops tho. this is why i had to buy a mac pro instead of the all in one imac. if your like me and you continuously encode video you need at LEAST quad-core processors or better, and you need the ability to over-clock and to customize which unfortunately, in the macbook aluminum and imac aluminum, is non-existent .

Well the optical drive that he was talking about does not support Blue-Ray nor HD-DVD, the major high-defninition formats, in other words it can't read those discs.
In otherwords you can't buy HD movies and play them on your Imac (well unless you download them, but those downloads are pretty big, which is the reason why you'd want to buy the blue-rays). So he is pretty much right that its a "standard def" optical drive.

i hate when they compare the price of an iMac with the price of a standard PC with the same specs. Just look at the screen. It's a god damn LED screen! A 24 inch LED screen alone is like f*cking 1k$!!! let's not forget the ram is DDR3, you have everything included to start with, NO DAMN BLOATWARES and it's an all-in-one pc, meaning everything's built into the screen, and performs WAYY better.

Benchmarks are generally better on a mac, you have a 24" LED 1200p 24 screen. it RARELY crashes and you can only have a FEW viruses and the OS doesn't use power and RAM at ALL and everything in it is very fast-clocked so you can do your tasks faster. If you want a gaming computer though, the mac is not for you.
Not THAT overpriced, i must say...

No No, this is blatant fanboyism. I OWN an IMAC 24" 2.93. Its cost me £1,499.00 in the UK. I really like it, I use it for a mac only software called Logic Pro.
OK, I have a QUAD 3.ghz PC, with 4 gig ram, 2TB hard drive space, a 512mb nividia graphics card, dual layer 8 DVD, wireless internet, 22" monitor etc etc. It cost me a total of £1,060.
I have to be totally honest and say its much faster than my Imac and it was a lot cheaper than it to. The IMAC is not just a little more!

its ok at best a core 2 duo is very weak in desktops, good for laptops tho. this is why i had to buy a mac pro instead of the all in one imac. if your like me and you continuously encode video you need at LEAST quad-core processors or better, and you need the ability to over-clock and to customize which unfortunately, in the macbook aluminum and imac aluminum, is non-existent .

Games actually run way better on an mac than a PC.
The computer itself lasts MUCH longer w/out any upgrade, its easier to use, more conveniant, no crashes, WAYY faster, no slowdowns, almost no viruses, spyware... and it's bundled with everything u need right out the box

Optical drives aren't "hidef" or "standard def" - the media on them determines what "def" they are.

Well the optical drive that he was talking about does not support Blue-Ray nor HD-DVD, the major high-defninition formats, in other words it can't read those discs.
In otherwords you can't buy HD movies and play them on your Imac (well unless you download them, but those downloads are pretty big, which is the reason why you'd want to buy the blue-rays). So he is pretty much right that its a "standard def" optical drive.

the reviewer is a dumb arse pc users that is comparing the imac to a PC base and not another "all in one" you can only compare an imac to other all in ones not standard pcs. What that guy also failed to mention was that apple provide all HD movies off of itunes so no need to a blu ray drive,
