.........an obvious picture of why crossfit will never produce a weightlifting or powerlifting champion. or a <11second 100m sprinter...or NFL player...or baseball....or NBA.....or rugby, soccer, tennis. produce rhabdomyolysis though...
@jiggaboo904 Why not? it will be easier, you will be faster, so the intensity of the workout will be a lot higher. And that effects a better training...
Please don't think it's all about strength. Crossfit trains in safety, efficacy and efficiency!!!!.
Crossfit is gay. Not bc of the workouts, but bc for a monthly fee to a Crossfit gym you could buy all the equipment yourself and do this at home. So, I guess what I mean is Crossfit is good. Crossfit gyms are gay. Also, (and maybe this is just where I'm from) I find that once someone does Crossfit for a while they become a huge tool and think they're better than everyone just bc they do Crossfit and you don't. Just an observation.
@hazara25 The gym is what makes it so fun. I see that you said "And maybe this is where I'm from" I think that is the case because the community is so positive. When I compete, I love the people and the atmosphere. The hard workouts are fun with your crew and new friends that you've met after joining a crossfit gym. I do WODs by myself at times and the intensity of the workout and the fun I have aren't the same. Hope your experience with crossfit has changed since you commented. Take care boss.
@hazara25 I think you forget a big aspect of Crossfit gyms: There wil be someone who knows which workout you can do when, so you train everything. Besides that ther will be someone who will watch your performance doing correctly. There will be someone who can give you the techniques with advices directly.
And the space to do crossfit (that not everyone has).
It is more expensive than just commercial gyms (that not work), but I think it's worth it (otherwise nobody did come ;) )
I respect the athleticism of crossfit workouts. When I'm cutting weight before competition I love this style of workouts! That being said, I think a lot of crossfit-fanatics would benefit from some proper weightlifting training. The over head squats look great, really, but some of those power snatches would be significantly easier as well as safer . Just a thought! In all honesty though, killer work out, keep it up. If I find myself in Vancouver again soon, I'll come and do some lifting!
It is a choice between QUANTITY and QUALITY> It looks like they've chosen the former.
Everyone who knows something about Olympic lifting moves will tell you that it is all about quality not quantity.
Besides all this, I have looked at all the corssfit workouts. I have never seen them do anything rotational. Everything is in the sagittal plane. Never rotational , never in the frontal plane.
The say it is functional... define functional....!!!!!

Bad form, technique, and ego gone wild. Love it at 6:33. and what is with the beer bellies, skinny legs and those funny dips.....

Have a go at the un-BEAR-able 330.
1 x Bear, 1 x Ring Dip, 1 x Ring Pull up,
2 x Bear, 2 x Ring Dip, 2 x Ring Pull up, etc
all the way up to ten
Cycle 10km on a spin cycle
10 x Bear, 10 x Ring Dip, 10 x Ring Pull up
all the way back to one.
Weight is 40% of BW on the Bear. The Bear is modified to a Clean, Front squat, Press, Back Squat, Press into wide grip, Overhead squat.
Perform for time. Record is 68 minutes. Ouch. Let me know if anyone tries it!
