I once requested Allison play The Nice:"5 Bridges Suite" during her show, and she did!She was an ezcellent radio talent and along with several colleagues shaped N.Y. radio for a time.God Bless
Get Well SOON, Jon! F%$^K Steve, Chris and Alan for touring with a fugazi! You are the spiritual leader of YES. This album was awesome, and R.I.P. the beautiful and great "Nightbird," Alison Steele. Miss her SO much!
Yes, the great Alison Steele died in 1995 of stomach cancer. Look her up on Wikipedia, which tells her story....
The flutter of wings, the shadow across the moon, the sounds of the night, as the Nightbird spreads her wings and soars, above the earth, into another level of comprehension, where we exist only to feel. Come, fly with me, Alison Steele, the Nightbird, at WNEW-FM, until dawn. She always started with a different poem, with spacey flutes in the background, and then into the music!

She, the show, & Jon Anderson/Yes were wonderful, timeless, & without peer.
Thank you for posting this segment & all the Nightbird & Jon/Yes interviews.
Too bad some of the interviews are being censored (from You Tube).

One song Allison used in the background as she recited poetry was In The Court Of The Crimson King. It took me over 5 years to find out who did that.
