On hard lvl max 1 I used the ancient armor, which lets you take ten hits no matter what, dark whip, and a mazed out shuriken, which can possibly land multiple hits. Hope it helps.

I don't have the game yet, and I have a question. Say you are Jonathan and Charlotte is following you. Can Charlotte die and if so will the game end if she does?

Jonathan and Charlotte shares the same HP bar. However, when they are both on the field, the one you control (in your case, Jonathan) loses HP when damaged, and you will lose MP when the other character (in your case, Charlotte) is damaged.

Unfortunately this is not Order of Ecclesia and your MP does not grow on trees. Therefore it is better to use only one character unless the situation absolutely demands both to appear.

If you're playing as Jonathan, Charlotte receives damage via MP bar, and so does Jonathan if you're playing as Charlotte.

I beated this whole game with everything mastered and complete except for item finding. P.S. BEST NON-COMBAT ITEM IN THE GAME= EYE FOR DECAY can see through breakable things/walls. You can get it from those Peeping Eye people at the first portrait.

It's difficult not to compare the release of Portrait of Ruin to its stand out predecessors, and the most mentioned to date is still SOTN, but let's try to involve these games with the same open mind. The art style has shifted, but the game continues to remain steadfast in the originality of the castles and being aesthetically beautiful. The only true deterioration I find is in the musical score, somehow not fitting the pace of game play, constantly too fast and abrasive.

If you want to beat Dawn of Sorrow make sure you have paranoia and look into that mirror behind Dario and fight big monster. Then equip Mina's tailisman and go to the center of the castle.
