Its pretty to look at but when you gotta work 16 hour days putting line back up.....not so much fun, we got most of the people back on within a week but took about a month to fix everything
The exciting part is, when the sun hits it in a few days and it all starts letting go. You have to watch where you go or you'll get impaled by icicles!
I remember waking up, going out to the front yard and just as I saw what looked like an icy Armageddon, a huge chunk of one of the tallest trees on our block came crashing down a few houses away. We were without power for seven days and we were one of the lucky ones.
we had the same thing up here in upstate NY January 15th that year. Very bad icestorm for us. Was without power fo 3 days. Wow that icestorm affected everybody!!
Yea, I live in Oklahoma and we never get snow storms oh noooo, we have to get the dangerous ice storms that knocks out power for days and sometimes weeks at a time. I remember sitting on my friends front porch two years ago during that same ice storm and it being dead silent in the middle of the night with fucking power flashes everywhere and hearing limbs cracking and falling to the ground. It was miserable.
haha i remember that one and the one during december the first one was great for sledding and the last one was like a freeze bobm went off i still havent picked up all of my debris up yet
I live in Iowa, and we just had an ice storm a 2 days ago. The ice caused so many electric poles to fall and some even snapped. The result was it left over 100,000 people JUST in our area without power. I was without power for only 26 hrs, there are still thousands of people without power and they will remain without for possibly another week or two. Its terrible :( Lots of shelters are being broadcast for families in need of a place to stay. Its very sad.
McAlester was pretty bad, too. I live in McAlester, actually. We had a bunch of power lines that were down, and we ourselves only had a generator to live off of. The lines at the gasoline stores were backed up pretty bad. We had to go all the way to Henryetta just to get some gas, really.
somebody should post the video off of jay leno where the car is sliding around like a pinball machine through the town it will kinda give you a laugh about a bad situation
Hey guys, some awesome footage as always, that is some serious heavy duty ice right there, in fact, the word 'Brutal' is the best description, I thnk :)
Thanks guys for going out there and give such great footge, top rating as always and I hope to be getting some of your DVDs pretty soon :) Willie

And now it's about to happen all over again...

It was worse in Tulsa, most the lines were down, period.
Poles snapped off, trees on houses--- you name it.

Powerlines in my town sagged halfway to the ground under the weight of the ice on the wire itself.
There was a little bit of sagging lines in the footage but not as much as I saw in my town.
