Don't forget to search the local basset rescues when looking for a hound. I have two and both were adopted that way. They're very good natured and play well with each other. They absolutely love visitors and children.

Most of the puppies for sale in pet shops will have some sort deficiency when they get older due to inbreeding and the poor conditions that were kept in at the puppy mills. Besides, dogs shouldn't be kept in cages, on display they should live in a home with a nice garden and lots of toys!

Most pet shop puppies come from puppy mills!! They sell through shops to mask the truly inhumane conditions in which their parents,brothers,and sisters live in...DO NOT buy a puppy through a mall pet shop!!! Visit the breeder and see for yourself how they are kept....honest breeders will welcome the chance to show you how they about their dogs!!!!

Puppies from homes are better, they dont get sick and they have less traumas when they grow up.
