That kid just needs a good swift slap and or punch to the face.  I recommend trying that each time he acts up. repeat when necessary. Parents who do not beat their kids should be put in jail for pumping them full of drugs.

@EarthWarZone i was referencing the fact that you have poor parenting skills because you think discipline solves mental issues, my dad was like this when i had ADD as a child, it really made me feel bad because no matter what i did, i would get locked up in my room for not being able to pay attention, something that all parents need to learn is that discipline is NOT the answer for everything, if you know a child like this, dont punish him, let him know you will help him through his struggle

@maxwelltripp I dont think it solves mental issues I just think if they get punished by whatever there doing wrong then they might not do it again, thats the whole point of punishing them.

Punishing a child for showing signs of ADD is like punishing them or hearing voices in their head, doesn't solve anything, only makes them feel unloved, which is the last thing a kid with health issues need.

I was around his age when I was diagnosed. Dexedrine helps me the best. Im a severe ADD case when I don't have the Dexedrine. It's horrible on the drug and it's horrible off the drug.

he is exactly the same as this,

every single day, home work is a nightmare, swinging on the chair, (if he stays in it long enough) under the table, rolling around with the dog, breaking pencils,

it was good to see the guy with the exact signs, and the mother with the same stress as me, trying not to lose the cool, the patience you need is miraculous,

That is, if the parent rewards good behavior and is consistent in the rewarding, the child will strive to get that reward. My sister ran a 3 year study at a leading psychiatric research lab at Arizona State. Those were her findings.

Also, I have ADD and I was whipped almost every single day of my life until I was in 6th grade and it did nothing to "correct bad behavior."

I agree. Too bad school lasts 7-8 hours a day not 2 or 3.

It's different for me tho. I can't play one game for 2 or 3 hours at a time. I would rather play for a bit and then play another game because I get bored with one. I still play video games like there is no tomorrow I can sit in a 50 minute college class and be fine. stick me in a 2.5 hour long lecture and I'm gonna be mentally present for about an hour. If I'm lucky. it's a disability researched and recognized by PROFESSIONALS.

it really depends on the person, for some people medication helps others not, others aren't even ADD at all and just got the label slapped on them

No. Any neuro theurapist that is serious would tell you NOT to medicate ADD. It is the most destructive thing that can be done to someone with ADD and autism spectras.

well every single one makes u unable to be social or laugh. U cant close ur eyes, u can barely blink, u feel like a zombie or a drone or something and if i took it every day I could go without eating forever, im not hungry and my throat feels tight, and my muscles become so weak that I can't move.

i got addicted to the medication. adderall is amphetamines. the ritalin wasnt cool either,went i went into a psychosis one time from taking to much and not being able to sleep. yeah itg ruined my life definetly

honestly I'm pretty sure I remember him saying he got diagnosed as an adult. but from my personal experience of the medicine, I wouldn't be too eager to take it if I were you. Look up the side effects.

sometimes you arnt born with it my friend is 10 and he has it it develops lots of kids get it at a higher age about 1/10 kids will get it at 10-13 instead of symptoms seen at age 4-7. saying i could be normal for 3months then for the fourth month my tention span could decrease and everything like that it develops u arnt born with it but sumtimes u are and then it becomes A.D.H.D not A.D.D

The difference between ADD and ADHD has nothing to do with when the symptoms occur. The diagnostic criteria for "ADD" no longer exists. It's simply called "ADHD", which splits up into 3 subtypes.

ADHD - Predominantly Hyperactive

ADHD - Predominantly Inattentive (Originally diagnosed as ADD)

ADHD - Combined (Displays symptoms of inattentiveness & Hyperactive)

As for ADHD symtpoms appearing later on in life, this can only be triggered by brain damage. which should be diagnosed as MBD.

So what is the answer then? If being desruptive in class, blurting things out, not completing tasks, feeling depressed because you dont feel the same or as good as everyone else. If these symtoms persist into adulthood and you have spent your life struggling with concentration and struggling to complete tasks,trying to write things down,(which doesnt work) If someone offers you a tablet, which in my case WORKED and helped me pull myself together. You would take it.
