In oregon EACH cop determines if the tint is tooo much. One will say yes, another will say no. Its BS. There is no clear defined regulation on window tint. So its Officers Discretion

I'm sixty years old and I had the windows of my Accord coupe right after buying it....in compliance to the state of Illinois where I live. Here in CT tinted windows are not illegal providing that you get them properly installed and have them inspected at the Dept. of Motor Vehicle, they will put a very small pass sticker on them END OF STORY

These regulations were enacted for public safety and not to trample on your "rights". there ARE LAWS governing them! the driver & passenger windows of ALL VEHICLES are not to be over a (relatively) small percentage of tint - (perhaps only 15%?)..This is NOT a small issue. In fact it is a VERY important issue in so many regards. One of them is the assinine mentality of drivers who think they can yap or text on a cell phone because nobody 'can see them'.

I have been pulled over foe tinted windows 12 times. It isn't a moving violation so the hell with it. I refuse to remove window tint. I have been tinting windows since 1984 when I was 14. I'm 41 now and I have had the same window tint on my Prelude since 1988 when I bought it new. My suv has it also. he Virginia law is 50% on sides I have 40% oh wow what a difference. 35 % on the rear oh no's I have 20%. It isn't even the black window tint they hate so much or the bronze. I will never remove it.

You have to understand that cops that pull people over for tinted windows may not always be going after just the tints but maybe anything else that comes up during the stop. The tints give's them probable cause to pull you over then anything after that is money.

@qwerty134098 Your house is not moving with the other millions of cars on the road. It is a safety hazard. If it is a safety issue it is Constitutional and Legal. Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence is all about safety.
Think of it this way. Boat Laws when they were first being passed through Congress. It was squashed, the reason. Not that it was UnConstitutional or Illegal, but due to funding. When US got the funds Boat Laws was created and passed.

Honestly though if a cop is behind you or lights you up and you roll all the windows down and flip the light on then there shouldn't be an issue.

Police usually pull cars with way overtinted windows because they could have something illegal (Weed, any kind of drug, or any person they shouldn't be transporting, etc...) or hiding weapons or anything. So yeah. <3.

Police are authorized to detain you when they have a reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime. Issue about TINTED WINDOWS -
there ARE LAWS governing them! the driver & passenger windows of ALL VEHICLES are not to be over a (relatively) small percentage of tint - (perhaps only 15%?)..This is NOT a small issue. In fact it is a VERY important issue in so many regards. One of them is the assinine mentality of drivers who think they can yap or text on a cell phone because nobody 'can see them'.
Night visability is also an issue for EVERYONE ELSE! So please LOSE the tint - 4 the cops too!!

I have been pulled over foe tinted windows 12 times. It isn't a moving violation so the hell with it. I refuse to remove window tint. I have been tinting windows since 1984 when I was 14. I'm 41 now and I have had the same window tint on my Prelude since 1988 when I bought it new. My suv has it also. he Virginia law is 50% on sides I have 40% oh wow what a difference. 35 % on the rear oh no's I have 20%. It isn't even the black window tint they hate so much or the bronze. I will never remove it.

@XboobtubeX NOT REALLY my dad has a 06 impala with very dark tint and all the cop said was itz too dark and sent him on his way with a warining/recommending of getting it changed. he was also speeding. it all matters on your attitude and how respectful you are to them. DICK

You have to understand that cops that pull people over for tinted windows may not always be going after just the tints but maybe anything else that comes up during the stop. The tints give's them probable cause to pull you over then anything after that is money.
