  • "Wow," Just look what you've 'forwarded'; a great classic - and to an ignorant generation who swear themselves to be 'Country'. Good luck and good onya.

  • was a remarkably intelligent musician, ronnie reinvented country music

  • Omg I remember a long time ago, when I was like, 5, me and my mom would sing this. I love this song! It brings back so many memories!!! I haven't heard it in years..

  • gotta love Ronnie great stuff

  • ya no some people just dont no how these songs like this make u feel inside most of the songs like this are fadin out and will never be heard again wich makes me feel like i just died

  • @SuperJustmeandme This is the kind of muic that can actually get the blood pumping and the heart beating faster. I hope it'll last forever! Some of the stuff today ain't bad but no contest to music of times past.

  • Thanks posting this great song by Ronnie Milsap

  • Anyone else think that thematically, this is a similar story as "Cold Kentucky Rain" by Elvis? I think that it's got the same sort of builds as that song, also.

  • @billperkins74 dunno but im gonna find out right now

  • @jackprc6 yes! wow thats a great song,glad i found your post!

  • Great song!

  • One of my favorite songs ever

  • damn i miss gville ga

  • Man I still get goosebumps......He makes you feel the words, not just hear them!!

  • I grew up listening to Ronnie this is one of his best,

  • This is such an amazing song!

  • oh i almost forgot my dad had breakfast with ronnie the morning of his concert in midland and to this day we have an open invitation to his house in N. Carolina. If anyone sees his cousin and personal manager, Billy, tell him I said hi.

  • haha if you guys only knew what i had in my possession: something like an autographed pic of Ron when his "it's almost like a song" album came out. along with a drumstick that his drummer used in a concert in midland, tx back in the 80s (i was about 11 or 12), got a tour of his tour bus, and the original videotape of "Lost in the 50s Tonight" jealous, yet? lol

  • laundromat rock!

  • @maverick76971 lol laundry mat rock!! I love it.

  • I have seen him a few times at the New Mexico State Fair, boy he can put on a show. Love this song

  • @Berta664 He is one artist I wish I could see. I hear he puts on quite a show. I was told he jumps around on stage. My mom saw him and she was worried he would fall off the stage.

  • yes ron is blind.

  • I agree tomy

  • never was a big country fan,I grew up rockin, but always loved Ronnie Milsap, and hearing my parents listen to what I call "Old school country",I'm pushing 40 now and grew up hearing all these songs, its funny how after all these years, you start to have a new appreciation for all the classics you grew up on,compared to all the crap being played today.

  • I used to listen to this stuff when I was just knee high to a piss stump :)

  • @codemanhaggard Haahaa, same here:)

  • What an awesome song by an awesome singer!!

  • I've always loved this song, I've been in the smokey mountain rain and tennesee, so this song brings back memories, love it! Gatlinburg is so nice!

  • My last name is Millsap. (Haha no correlation to Ronnie at all but its CLOSE)

  • I'm no fan of country music, but some of this old stuff is really good. Unlike this pop-country crap on the radio today. Many men can relate to this story...... many men let a good woman go, for some dream that did not pan out or some skank.

  • @Titaan359 White southerners should always... marry other White southerners -- Take from me !

  • @carnut476 I did...too much contrast otherwise...different type of people it seems!

  • @Titaan359 Damn right, the older country comes from the soul unlike todays music that is only for profits.

  • papaw used to play this song on the guitar when i was just knee high :)

  • Wow,Sooo many memories...Excellent song!!!Good job on the video!

  • I have heard Milsap in concert before some years ago.... He was awesome!

  • Oh this song reminds me so much of my father...WOW....

  • @krimdilakrim I am dissapointed that I live in an era that has some pretty dissapointing lyrics, and I couldnt help but notice you said "man" a few times, Im a girl lol..

  • this is one of my all time favorites. like you the country music of the likes of ronnie, alan jackson, george jones and george strait are some of the pure country music greats

  • Song tells a story of a man chaseing a rainbow down near Smokey Mountain in the rain. Love the song. Can't seem to get it out of my head..

  • @SH68Malibu No, it's a man searching his soul because he's lost the love of his life.

  • Great one Saddleback77 (!!).

  • Great tune

  • so what if your young and listen to great music why should you deserve a thumbs up for that many many kids i know love ronnie including myself

  • @yawnzeroo1 Why are you being so rude? Im just expressing my love for country music. The majority of kids where I live dont even know who he is when I speak of him, i'm very happy the other children around you are blessed enough to know who he is and have had the experience to hear him sing because he is a great influence

  • Kenworth439 I wish 2011 was 1973 too. It was great

  • reminds me of early mornings in a peterbuilt with a cup of coffee and the smell of deisel fuel

  • @SADDLEBACK77 Still there my friend.......

  • @SADDLEBACK77 amen to that

  • @SADDLEBACK77 you got that right. back when truckin was actually fun and not the hooray for me and the hell with you attitudes out here now.

  • saw Ronnie last night and he was awesome! he still sounds just like he did at 20...

  • Thanks for this, very much.

  • it been 2 years and i still call out her name god i love that girl this song reminds me of her

  • Wonderful memories, warms my heart about my husband. Thanks!

  • I've got to find her, can you make these big wheels burn!!!

  • I listened to this song on my last trip from LA all the way to Knoxville

  • @kissklassics : I'm a long distance trucker running outta the Carolinas to L.A. and back. Always good to get back home.

  • Thanks for showing this. It was my husband's favorites. He/We love Ronnie Milsap. Thanks - it puts a smile on my face remembering my darling husband . . .

  • Im a 14 year old highschooler and I like this old stuff better than the crap on the radio these days, I wish 2011 was the 1973

  • @kenworth439 your a 1 in 1,000,000,000. kinda kid thats awesome

  • @MrSouthernMan1 There are seriously only a couple, you are right about that... it's ridiculous what people think is good music these days...

  • @thecubemeister if your lying your dying!

  • @MrSouthernMan1 I admit that I do enjoy SOME modern music. But most of it is just plain awful.

  • @kenworth439 I feel the same way my friend.

  • @kenworth439, Same here man, Im in the prime of my youth, and i can figure out why i have to be brought up around music like rap, pop, and mainstream? I fell almost dissapointed that i wasent born in the right era? Iff you like this song, you might like (Take me home country roads)(wagon Wheel) and others, iff you want to message me on facebook, my names Bradford Walsh. I feel the same way about your philosaphy on todays music. But anyways, message me up man.

  • @kenworth439 Good for you to recognize this great music from years gone by. There are some good songs today but overall the music back in this time was so much better. Have a great life....

  • @kenworth439 I was there and I don't wish that. Some things were better in 1973 but some things weren't. It was still a disgrace for an unmarried woman to get pregnant, for example. At least we now have ways to hear older music - we didn't back then.

  • @eightdozenroses Im pretty sure they had vinyl then..so there was some way to listen to music. My grandmother has stacks and stacks of vinyl records.

  • @kenworth439 LOL way to COMPLETELY miss the point kid.

  • @kenworth439 I'm sorry, I didn't word that very well. Yes, we have vinyl, of course, but we didn't have the internet. So all this free listening didn't exist. One had to scour record stores for older music.

  • @kenworth439 so do i.riding horses.good music!!!im 14 also.

  • @kenworth439 Me too. No STDs! Woohooo!

  • @kenworth439 I dont, I wouldnt be here lol

  • @kenworth439 at least u know how it is... lol listen to johnny cash hurt. itll change ur life

  • @kenworth439 Finally, someone in this world who has a little bit of taste in music. I'm 15 and run a game review team with friends (my age) and none of them appreciate good clean music like this...

  • @TheReviewteam5 This is awesome music. You have good taste my friend!

  • Great song!!!!!!!

  • I can listen to this song all day n never get tired of it! =D

  • Any Day Now is another perfect classic. He did these without all the studio sound that they have today. Real Music!

  • @bsum77

"He did these without all the studio sound they have today"?! Milsap recorded in professional studios of the '70's and '80's that were as equipped for gloss as the ones today. They just used tape instead of hard drives, analog effects instead of digital ones. Milsap's recordings feature reverb, chorus, and compression. He double-tracked his voice and sweetened the tracks with strings and synthesizers. I think you're trying to talk about auto-tune, but don't know how.

  • This makes me proud that Im from the state of which this is the state song. Proud to be a Tennessean :D

  • heys my cousin

  • All the cussing and ill talk about Millsap's eyes was uncalled for..I was Ronnie Milsap at the Ft. Bragg, N.C. Officers Club 82nd Airborne Div....he was billed as the white Ray Charles and he was that all the way...they had to move him to a bigger ball room because the crowd that gathered made the building unsafe...he is good no matter what he sings or with or with eyes...Iwon40

  • Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet pop confection.......
