  • Jive always makes me smile!!!!!!!

  • @92luthercasper Ricardo and Joanna W.

  • who won in this competition..!!

  • Awesome!

  • exellent

  • best dance. exelent

  • in this shoes O.o

Ok i'm a guy but when i learned the jive today i really had problems to dance in normal shoes xD

  • @TToud You had problems because you just learned it. Shoes dont really matter for guys, all they have to be is tight yet comfortable. Its a bit different for the ladies though.

Damn makes me remember my days of dancing. My dance partner was closer to me than my girlfriend lol, even had a few arguments about that. Ahh.. good times.

  • I am glad Kristina dumped the style she had in the video.

  • and the best dance of all i very love it

  • wow how amazingly light and easy they make it look. my goal is to NAIL the jive and not look like im DYING by the end of the compeition lol. amazinnggggg!!! aah ballroom is ruly my PASSSIONN!!!

  • My faves would have to be Eugene and Maria, as well as Ricardo and Joanne. There's a finesse and style there that is just astounding.

  • Eugene and Maria are sooo awesome!!

  • At 1:22, I just love it when the commentators are talking about Mauricio and Melinda. Cute. They move with alot of personality.

Joanne Wilkerson has a beautiful white dress. She and Ricardo had a good performance.

Kristine Stockrobroes dress was nice also. She and Peter are superb in their demostration and they are always consistant.

Say no more, I want to dance Klaus and Victoria's routine also. Fantastic. Thanks for airing.

  • who won?

  • @Musiclover2123

    Cocchi and Wilkinson

  • Oh. sorry, probably a basic step I don#t know, I just notices that they're american (different steps than in europe)

  • Dang. I keep looking for the basic step... do they ever dance one?

  • who won??

  • Love Katsevman's slide

  • is that karen hardy's voice in the background? omg! if it is! yay!

  • @hOpEcHiLd7 It IS Karen Hardy. I read she's a certified DanceSport commentator, I think on her Wikipedia page. YAY also!

  • Absolutely right! Thanks so much. I'm hooked on it now :) Just realised it was mentioned already some time ago. Anyways, thanks a lot!

  • Does anybody know the name of the song? Can't find it by the lyrics anywhere... Cheers!

  • Go on Fool - Ruth Brown... I'm pretty sure....Can you check if it's wrong?

  • what's the music?

  • eegati dundite sa nqkoi

  • aa taq e dundava :)haha

  • does anybody know wich song they dance on?

  • Jive is by far the most funniest dance of all.

  • @liberatyd swing is the funniest!.........

  • bryan watson is doing the commentary..............

  • i just noticed how as compared to the other couple's choreo... Riccardo's choreo is simpler with more partner work and more of basic chasses ronde-checks and kick bolt changes

  • think the commentators did a great job, especially liked her way.

  • HAJRÁ MELINDÁÉK!!!! :)

  • I love dancing and I think dancing should be fun, even skillful and well choreographed dancing should be done for personal enjoyment. However professional dancing, stomping striaght legged, just looks painful. Their smile looks more like their gritting their teeth from pain. Hope they don't blow out their kneecaps.

  • Little waists come from dancing your but off, it's an awesome thing really! And I know Stefano is the only tall one out there Riccardo, Eugene, Muaritzio are all around 5'8" or 5'10". I was so supprised when I met them, I thought they where so much taller as well as the ladies, I thought Yulia was tall and she's only 5'3". They look so much taller on stage!

  • whats the name of the song???

  • Comment removed

  • this dance is incredible,, but why these guys seem so slim.. they were tall and slim.. very slim.. like 28" waist for 6' guy is not ok

  • they just look tall. most of them are super short. like eugene's around my heigh and i'm 5'9

  • 5'9" is enough ... I am 5'7'' means dat I am a dwarf or wat???? watever their height is they are too slim.. too thin.. dosnt look good when guys are skinny but dats just my opinion..anyway who care how they look they are awesome dancer

  • im actually 6'1 and i got 28" waist line, and yeh that really is ok, cus im not really too slim, it also has to do with body structure. actually i just weigh about 65 kilo aswell. but my BMI is still ok.

  • Couple of things jump to my mind:

    1. True that the dancers look tall in the video, but in reality most of them (with the exception of di Filippo) are actually short. Riccardo and Eugene are around 5'6", and Eugene's actually bigger than Riccardo physique wise.

    2. Waist size - well, the dance pants are usually about 2-3 inches narrower than your regular pants - it makes the movements that much clearer and more defined.

    So there you have it!

  • Maurizio&Melinda a legjobbak :)

  • egyetértek. ^^)

  • én is! :)))

  • how can you even say that amateurs are better than pros?????...top pro couples all have individual styles...it's not about technique anymore, all top pro couples' technique is impecable...you can't apreciate pros if all you look at in a dance is exactly what you've been told and looks ordinary....amateurs are just faster usually because they don't have the control or rythm or dance or individuality that top pros do

  • it's still a competition NeverTheLess and uniqueness isn't graded as it is definitely expected from a nonuniform sport. style and technique would still be a top priority no matter what.

  • at 3:00 how could she dance like this with these shoes

(i can't even walk with those XD)

  • das ist doch einfach gewohnheit

außerdem tanzt man ja nicht von jetzt auf gleich mit so hohen schuhen!

  • latin shoes and the style of latin requires a toe lead (except paso). A high heel actually makes it easier to lead with the toe

  • the di fillipo girl is always wearing the same costume to most of her competitions. not that thats bad, but a little variety would be nice

  • where can i get the song?

  • This is an AMATEURS championship?! If these are amateurs...I can't even imagine how insanely good the professionals must be. wow.

  • That doesn't have anything to do with it. Some pros never become as good as the amateur couples. It's only a question of trying to ear your living from dancing. Or of having achieved everything as an amateur and then moving on to pros.

I personally prefer amateur competitions. I think many pros wander too far from the original character of the dances. Also, I often find their outfits questionable.

  • somehow the amateurs tend to be somewhat much better than the pros. just a paradox that can somehow be found only here in dancesport.

  • They're not better, they're just more flashy. Different things are expected in professional than in amateur. Professionals are expected to dance more maturely than amateur. That's why Eugene and Maria aren't do as well in pro as they might... they still dance like amateurs.

  • My understanding regarding Eugene and Maria's dancing was that they had already matured in their style and belief that they weren't really changing it much to suit the tastes of the judges, which is why they achieved a high ranking around 2003-2004, and from then on it went downhill in the amateur ranks, whereas the other couples just kept evolving making it more interesting to watch(!?). As a professional, you find what works and then you keep tweaking it until it is all yours.

  • i actually have to agree to the point of were amateurs keep true to the real pure latin dancing. i really think its more enjoyable than to watch all the frills being added in the professionals. but then again its most professionals not all of them who have to be wicked in order to be original. if i had to pick my favorite dancer from the amateurs it would be di Filippo no doubt. Professionals I'm probably gonna go with slavik because of his interpretation of latin dances.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song?

  • Go on Fool by Patti Black

  • amazing! i would like to dance like them.... :)

  • I was in this competition.. damn;D

  • where??

  • any Australians in this comp???

  • The winners were ricardo and joanne from italy. Joanne is an Aussie, originally from WA i think.

  • is that karen hardy commetating>>???

  • I agree

  • melnikova is so much better than annalisa...

  • die sind ja wohl nur geil..

  • true hahahahaha they hated maurizio hyperness

  • who won?

  • Go on Fool - Ruth Brown

  • does anyone have this song?

  • What a AWWFULL song.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Go on fool - Patti black

  • Karime18, to get to the point, this has nothing to do with culture. It's a sport, the dances originated from different cultures(probably before u were born), but u don't hear them complaining. The fact is many of these dances were transported during the trans-atlantic slave trade(the samba and rumba are sometimes argued to be African. pick up on ur history)so it has nothing to do with latin culture. if u can't appreciate it, then don't watch it and it is called Dancesport.

  • Forget it swidanza. Your words of wisdom are wasted on the uncultured and idiots of the world like Karime18 who are obviously not only ignorant but also intolerant of the evolution of dance. No one is dancesport has ever claimed that the rumba, samba, jive, or cha are the classical interpretations of Latin American dancing. Dancesport borrows elements from these dances and stylized them. The foolish will always remain foolish.

  • thats interesting that u know that swidanza, most ppl don't take the time to learn the history of subjects. the only reason these dances are called latin is b/c those are the countries the style was first seen. Samba, mambo and rumba are W.African words, also, its the reason they always refer to the Paso Doble as the most latin of the latin dances.

  • cocchi and wilkinson, and mauritzio and melinda are both soooooo amazing!! their energy, moves, technique... it's a feast for the eyes

  • why latin championships?? where is the latin music & rythm?, and why latin ppl dont know that this tournament exist??? and and and and etc etc etc lol

  • Katsevman and Manusova are the best!! they are the greatest couple!!

  • Karime, get your head out your ass. If you were so smart you would be able to spell

  • Maurizio Vescovo and Melinda Törökgyörgy are the BEST!!!!!

    Love them!!!!

  • you're right:D

  • totaly agree

  • Is that Bryan Watson commenting?

  • Well .. Karen Hardy is but dunno about the guy?!

    x

  • the guy with the british accent is a commentator and the guy with the very heavy German accent is Bryan Watson.

  • Is Bryan Watson not South African...

    x

  • yes he is:-) and carmen is german of croatian origin:-)

  • Thought so :P Someone sed the heavy "German" accent there and I was like :S

    :P

    x

  • Err..not quite. Bryan represented Germany as a competitor partnering with Carmen, but his accent is very, very South African. Sort of English mixed in with some Dutch and a dash of Afrikaans.

  • What a great song! What is its name?

  • go on fool - patti black

  • Katsevman and Manusova - the best and their cha-cha solo was the best - I am not a dancer but I think their performances were the most rhythmic! Who are the winners?

  • Cocchi and Wilkinson

  • It is good..but the new rules are just so...weird...like one couple solo...two couple on one floor...i remember the old times where everybody dances at once and the best are always picked...or more like the ppl that dance in front of the judges more :D

  • anyone knows the name of the jive music???

  • For the idiot who thinks they speak for all Latins, YOU DONT, I'M LATINO AND YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE! First off the Jive although it's in the latin category IS NOT A LATIN DANCE, it just has a lot of rythmn therefore it is added but dont get it twisted, they also dance ChaCha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, ALL LATIN DANCES, learn the facts before talking.

  • LIKE YOU SAID " I'm free to comment whenever I want, remember freedom of speech." I'M HISPANIC ALSO AND I UNDERSTAND MORE THAN YOU THIS IS JIVE THEY ARE NOT SAYING IT'S SALSA OR MERENGUE OR RANCHERAS OR WHATEVER YOU THINK THEY ARE ANNOUNCING IT'S JIVE AND YES THIS DANCERS ARE LATIN AND THEY ARE DANCING JIVE WITH SOME DIFFERENT MOVES WHEN THIS DANCERS CHOREOGRAPH THERE ROUTINE THEY ALWAYS ADD SOMETHING A BIT DIFFERENT WHICH ONLY SMART PEOPLE SEE SO I GUESS YOUR NOT THAT SMART.

  • how old are they?...they look so young but...i never know theyr age:D...i just luv them all!i admire them very very very much!

  • has anybody this song and could send me it in icq for example?

  • I like Eugene and Maria for their attitude and athleticism, but Maurizio and Melinda have an energy which is just addicting. The Di Fillipos are definitely the most precise out of the group. . .

  • I agree kaqwangko, im also latin and can appreciate all types of music and dancing. Although this dance is specifically a jive the dances have elements of latin steps hence why its called latin. Also a lot of original latin dances have outside influences and influences from other countries like Africa. People stop hating and start appreciating.

  • the di filippos are the best!!!! i dont really care if other people dont consider this a latin dance or music. it's a "sport" already so lets just deal with it.

  • omg plz shut up and do it fast, you could never do anything like this and appearently you can't apreciate what they do as well so plz, just go somewhere else with your crap talk

  • for christ sake grow up so we arent latin? We can still enjoy the dancing and learn it too whats your problem get your head out your ass and come back to reality-the world doesnt revolve around you!

  • YOU AR RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS AND YOUR THE MORRON, CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE SO STUPID CANT YOU READ RIGHT? OR YOUR JUST STUCK IN YOUR "CULTURE"? IT SAYS 'JIVE' "Latin Championships - Jive Solos" IT DOESNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT BEING SALSA OR CUMBIAS OR WHATEVER YOU DANCE YOU RACIST BITCH THIS IS JIVE. ON THIS CHAMPIONSHIPS THE DANCERS GET TO DANCE DIFFERENT STYLES EVEN IN LATIN AMERICA. YOU MORRON.

  • Just to point out that this style of dance, Latin, is not supposed to be authentic latin dancing. It celebrates its latin origins but has moved significantly away from them. Anyway, Latin is here an abbreviation of Latin and American dancing. Jive, is the American dance (developing from swing). But for simplicity the whole style is called Latin....

  • Thank you for making it CLEAR!!! finally someone with manners understands what I've been trying to say. Thanks again.

  • If you don't want people interfering with your 'private' conversations maybe you shouldn't display them for the world to see! And no I dont think the world revolves around me because I talk on behalf of everyone interested in jive unlike you who just talks about you!

  • Yeah probably you shouldn't interfere because in the first place IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Second, I'm not talking to you. Third I don't like Jive. Fourth, you think that you are the belly of the world, and Fifth, SHUT UP.

  • Yes, you made that clear...so I'm saying don't display it if you don't want people to read it-would be the logical thing to do. Good for you you dont like jive, no I don't think i'm the belly of the world because whatever issues i have with people i don't make a public scene of them. Oh and shutup? Great point, proves a lot. Well just that you have a mouth, a really big mouth

  • Lol are you saying I don't have a mouth..thats a bit of an odd thing to say...well its nice to know we have something in common. You're irritating showing the world your business

  • The artist is Patti Black(for NikolasK88)

  • & Di Fillipo r the best!!!;) then Victoria Franova then Melinda & Maurizio...Then Manusova

  • they r...amaizing!!!

  • Great commentary, great dancing, great video :D

  • the name of the song is "Go on fool". but i don't know the singer. If anyone knows it, please tell me!

  • It's by Ruth Brown.

  • what's the name of the song?

  • Truly amazing. Makes us, amateur dancers, feel like begginers ^^;

  • EmOHeart, but they ARE amateur dancers :D:D:D

  • OMG :O

Totally fooled me, ahah. We don't have THAT kind of amateurs here ;P

  • great commentry by karen hardy

    <3x

  • Check your listing to see if the World latin comp. is showing in your area on PBS and prepared to be wowed.

  • this competition is sooo great to watch. When u see it on a lrg screen outside of the comp. you can really take in the quality of the dancing. They interview many of the couples and many are very attractive man and woman

  • i just watched this competition on PBS the man and woman commentating, are Bryan Watson and his former partner(i thk thats what they said) Karen something.

  • Karen Hardy

  • so sad that joanne wilkinson isnt dancing anymore... shes australia's best pro girl

  • Very good commentary. Love this kind of strong judge's view style of commentary during these performances.
