  • Just like OOE says, save yourself the effort. My downdraft tarmaker is no longer and I made a mini larosafier instead. Check out the woodgas yahoo group. plenty of help and info.

  • The Fema unit are a pain in the butt... The LaRosafier is almost as simple and just about as cheap. It makes GOOD gas with no tar. It is much more controllable since it is more true to the Imbert designs. Check out the yahoo woodgas group. There are 3800 or more members. It rocks.

  • At what point in the system does the troublesome tar appear? In the filter, or does it get past the filter? Will adding a cyclone help?

  • Nothing helps. The best way to do it is to never make tar. I can tell you for sure that no matter what you do with a tar producing gasifier, your problems will end with the demise of you engine. The valves stick after it cools and then they hit the top of the pistons. BE CAREFUL. !! Cyclones are for char dust. Other filters are for finer stuff. You should join the group. It is very insightful.

  • Awesome. I love the winebago tank removal.

  • Good luck friend. I have been tossin around the idea of building on as well. Glad to see more people getting into this old technology. Peace
