Daryl Hooper is my teacher too... Are you in Amador County? He teaches at the Mother Lode Music and gives me lessons at my house from this music program that help those with lower income. He's a mellow dude. Told me to check out his songs. Haha.
Need some help here. I seem to vaguely remember a song from this era, all I remember is one line of lyrics, "I'm takin a shave, out in the sun", any ideas?
@MrRaiderfan1000 Thanx for that, I just watched the video of that tune. That's the one, I seem to remember that song being a bit "harder" than the Bobby Sherman version but it's been a long time since I've heard that tune. Thanx and Cheers!!
First of all, this isnt live obviously. As a denizen of the Sunset Strip in the mid'60's I can attest that Sky Saxon was 100% "Post-Toasty". How the other guys in the band ever even communicated with him is beyond me.
@Wintersentinel I believe you. I know of a few Rockers from the 1960s found their way into teaching music. The Seeds were one of my fave bands back then. They still are! In 1965, Sky Saxon took a psychedelic walk across the universe and he never came back down :-)! I'm so glad he did! A Happy and Hopeful New Year 2012 to you!
Sky Saxon looks as if he'd rather be somewhere else. One of my faves from waaaay back when. Psychedelic garage band at its best. The keyboards are the real payoff. Classic piano meets a Vox(?) electric keyboard. In all, King Tone!
I actually saw this band at seattle concert with paul revere and the raiders, and guess who I liked better? Yep, they did pushin too hard, ....and I WOW!!!
It's a GREAT song...Looks like Sky was bit shy yet...when their first album hit, they had hair as twice as long than in this video, well all but Daryl "revolutionary"....and it was the LONGEST hair yet on any album cover..!! it's why I bought the record!!
Everybody playbacked in those days, who cares? Like it's such a worrying thing, the fantastic about it is watching the Seeds performing this very wonderful song and Sky in the happiest mood in the planet while doing it (I think it was his aesthetic, to have this kind of sleepy look).
This song rules, but that's some of the worst lip synching ever, LOL. The Seeds, on their best songs, are the second coolest group of the 60s after the 13th Floor Elevators.
@eg463665 A vampire? Okay, man, I can go with that. But, I'd say he looks more like a Revolutionary War era hero (just like Paul Revere and The Raiders)! The guy behind keyboard wore clothing that perfectly reflected the amalgam of styles back in the 1960s. I'll take those days over the 2000s anytime. So, I'm getting "old."
@ventovivimus Sky did in the studio. But Daryl used the lower octaves on the piano to act as the bass for live shows kinda like what Ray did for the Doors.

Sky looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. Oh well, Bandstand was a good gig, I guess. The keyboard solo is the payoff here.

@clintonearlwalker The song your looking for is "Easy come easy go" The song was a hit for Bobby Sherman about 4 years later.

The keyboardist is the coolest. I think he might have studied a little classical piano.
