The date on the video is incorrect. Mad Season didn't play live after the Moore show on April 29th '95, so this New Year's gig was before that, Dec 31st '94. You can hear Layne saying "This one is a really really new song, we're trying not to ... f*ck this up" or something. The "Above" album came out a little later in March '95.
:-(too sad and horrible, cruel. if he couldn't got on tour, he hadn't. Human being as first, THEN business. He had to stay in a serious rehab for two YEARS, not a day less. Later, escaped far far away from Seattle and his dealers, friends(?)and all the shit around him...I feel too angry, sorry...
@giuliana2610 he was and had! otherwise he couldn't perform. flu like symptoms (vomits, diarrea, etc, x 3) + cramps + terrible muscle pains in every inch if his body wouldn't allow him to even simple stand there :(
@Kjirkoh yeah, that'd be IF one we're to play live or going on tour in the midst of withdrawl. once you're passed the withdrawl stage there wouldn't be none of those symptoms. PLUS, if you look at his eyes up close, not necessarily in this show, but in general, his pupils are way too big to be solely on H. none the less, i love this performance.
@onkel44lekno withdrawl symptoms can last long depend on the person. and the mental state can bring you on an withdrawls symptom types even when you are recovered. when the craving got into your mind. of course he wasn't sorely on h. he used crack an cocaine too
@jjc1676 wtf!? he ain't nodding in this peeps. c'mon, get with reality. lower his head to read the lyrics, yeah. eyes rolling back, yeah. nodding no. have you guys ever seen anyone nodding out?
@Rebphoenix Layne is not nodding out on this. Have you ever seen someone nodding out? Check out the live alice in chains live at the Ahoy, Rotterdam. That's nodding out. Not this.
@Rebphoenix Look at his eyes any time, man. Angry chair video he rolls his eyes into the back of his head about 30 times. Grind music video is the same as well. It's Layne. Thats what he does.
@AzhiaziamL Believe what you want then. The fact of the matter is though that he was going through the depths of his heroin addiction during this time, he couldn't just stop doing the stuff at this point and still be functional, much less sing at a gig. And not only that as he was getting into crack too.
@Rebphoenix I have no reason to NOT believe what I want. I was there, and I knew Layne. Seriously. If you want to see what FUCKED UP and nodding out looks like, then watch the rotterdam show. This is just Layne being Layne. He sings his songs like they're new. WIth the same raw emotion as when he was writing them. If you would..... Watch the lifeless dead. When he sings the line "And then a demon, came to him... you must know that im gonna win" He almost starts crying as he's "nodding off"
i have the mad season live at the moore dvd.... i would love to see this whole show.. if anyone knows where to find it please message me and let me know ..rip layne
Wow! This is a true hidden treasure since Mad Season didn't perform live very often...does anyone know the exact number of live performances they had?

what does "nodding out" mean? I don't understand exactly the word...
giuliana2610 2 months ago
@giuliana2610 it means to suddenly get sleepy. Your head drops down because something made you kinda tired.
