I remember seeing this intro everytime I started the action game on the computer. Nostalgia at its best :D
For a game based one a movie, this is one of the few games which actually intergrates the true epicness from the movie and makes a smashing good game out of it too.
Disney used to be so powerful, they werent afraid to make you cry or feel afraid, and as a child i was always comforted knowing it would all end up okay. This movies had great messages.
12 years have past since I first see this trailer and film and I stell having the same feeling, Tarzan is, for me (with the lion king) the greatest movie of all disney, the one I will never forget.
Oh God! I love how everyone is talking about their memories of being a 90's kid and growing up on Disney! I was born in 1988 , I was 3 years old seeing Beauty & the Beast , entranced by it's elegance and old fashioned storytelling. Seeing Aladdin at age 4 ,the humor of Robin Williams Genie. 5 years old , the gothiness and whimsy of Nightmare Before Christmas. 6 years old , the majesty and african culture of The Lion King , age 7 , stunned by Pixar's first computer animeted film with Toy Story.
Thank you God to let me born on 96, so I could join this kind of movies, still on cinema, and learn what disney really were, the classics and the magic, just wonderfull, thanks
Yes, God has a soft spot for those born in the 1990s. Everything he created over the last 13 and a half billion years was just practice for that decade.
I still think that to this day, this is the most beautiful animated film ever made. It blends together perfected traditional handdrawings with amazing use of 3D-effects to make a movie that looks simply stunning. It also stands to this day as the most expensive traditionally hand drawn movie Disney ever made, and it held the record as Disney's most expensive movie ever for 11 years, until it got beaten by Tangled, a full 3D-movie.
Dang...1999 that seems so far away now...12 years later and this is still an amazing movie :) I'm a teen and I still love this stuff lol I'll watch movies like this over all the stupid reality shows targeted towards my age group ANY day! :D
I'm supposed to do a monologue for English class about a female fairy tale character, with presenting a new view on the story. I'm looking through a lot of Disney stories to find something, anybody think Tarzan is good? Or any other suggestions?
I mean sure there was a few a few good ones after like Finding Nemo and Monster INC. But I feel like this movie was the official end of the disney Golden Age
Can anyone please tell me the name of the song that plays at 0:44? I know that it is Phil Collins, but I can't find out which song it is! It just such an amazing soundtrack to a fantastic movie.
Even though I was still pretty young and was born in the later years of the Disney Renaissance, me and my sister were raised by Disney movies. We loved the old fairy-tale ones, along with the ones that were made during the 90's. Now that I am older I realize how blessed I am to be a 90's kid, even though I could not enjoy these films when they were first released. Tarzan was the first movie I saw in a movie theater, and I am proud that this amazing film owns that title.
More than ten years has passed since I saw this trailer and this movie for the first time, and I still have this feeling...Tarzan is my film, the one which touch my heart and the one I will never forget!
It doesn't matter if you are a child, teenager, or adult, you can still enjoy the beauty of disney. I was born in 1997. All through the years until today, I still watch my disney movies on vhs. If you are a teen or adult , you might think to yourself ''I can't believe i'm a grown person and i still love disney. If I tell other people I love disney , they would probably think I am a sissy''. Those people probably think the same way.Don't be afraid to tell other people that you love disney.
In the 1950s I grew up on Disney classics like Snow White, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan. Fortunately, they were always being re-released so we could relive the magic, the splendour and the gentle humanity of them, even in pre-video days. I now own a lot of them on DVD and love revisting them. I retired last year, aged 55, and I'm not embarrassed about being a Disney fan. They are timeless. Unfortunately, we aren't. Future generations just may continue to watch and enjoy them.
@sydneyray064 thank god im not the only one. im a year older than you and whenever i buy a disney movie my family is all "what the heck is wrong with her"
@sydneyray064 You're right! I remember being a teenager and almost feeling embarrased about still enjoying animation. Fact of the matter is, it's art! If people knew the true lengths of what goes in to an animation, from research to rendering etc, they would realise that too. It differs from live action because every frame is scrutinised in order to get the best reaction from the viewer and is changed to suit. It's entertainment at it's best!
There was once a time when animation was considered special because there was nothing that animation couldn't render and make available to audiences. CGI changed all that and now those flights of the imagination are available to BOTH animation and live action. However, animation is still a special case because it is much more work intensive and is truly a labour of love. However, like live action, if the script is lame then you get a second rate film and even if the animation is high quality.
although I love this film watching this makes me kinda sad as it now can only give me the faintest echo of my six year old self's sense of absolute wonderment at seeing this sort of thing at the cinema.
More than ten years has passed since I saw this trailer and this movie for the first time, and I still remember this feeling...Tarzan is my film, the one which touch my heart and the one I will never forget!
I can't believe how I could forget this?! I went to the movie theatre for my first time to see Tarzan when i was 4 1/2 years old in June 1999. Ah, good times... :)
I can't believe how I could forget this movie?!!?!? I went to the movie theatre for my first time to see Tarzan when I was 4 1/2 in June 1999. Ah, good times! =)

funny how the anatomical structure of the female gorilla is incorrect, and instead of drawing her breasts like in the wild, they give her a fuzzy under belly.
oh my gosh i almost cried its just these kinds of movies are the best theyre so much better then the stupid 3D animation we have now that only once in a blue moon you'll get a good one (Toy story ect) and these ones feel so much more real and have great story lines and music most of the animation in great films like this are so amazing you cant believe your eyes these are the movies our futur generations should be watching right now (The Lion King,The little Mermaid,Mulan i could go on for days
More than ten years has past since I saw this trailer and this movie for the fist time, and I still remember this feeling...Tarzan is my film, the one which touch my heart and the one I will never forget!
I too cringe at the tree surfing scenes. For my money, one of the few flaws in the film because it is anachronistic, ie. it places "modern" iconography in a period film. You have probably seen some of the "making of" footage on the DVD or Youtube. Glen Keane, the Supervising Animator on the Tarzan character, explained that the got the idea from watching his son skateboarding. Everyone said, "Hey, that's cool." Unfortunately, that's what it looks like - Tarzan skateboarding!! Eek!
@atomichead777 I'm sure living in the jungle and doing that time after time builds up tough skin. I would think it would be similar to finger calluses when playing guitar.

I am so glad that I was born in 91 which meant that I grew up watching all the great 90's Disney films such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan. The only good hand drawn Disney films of the 21st century in my opinion are The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo and Stitch and Brother Bear.
Well, I was born in 1954 and have had many years of enjoying Disney films, including the ones made before I was born - Snow White, Pinnochio, etc. Many humans assume that the art (films, music, painting, sculpture, dance, etc) made during the period they are living is the pinnacle and everything that came before was just laying the foundations for that achievement. I happen to think that each generation produces great artists. Disney has made many great animated films between 1937 and today..
THANK YOU! I was born in 98, and I watch things from the 30's all the way up to now. Seriously, people can be ridiculous sometimes. "Oh I'm so glad I'm old cuz I got to wtch dis and dat and the younger gen grow up on crap."
I totally agree. I was born in 98 too and I love to watch "old things''. I wish I could of grown up in a different time cuz now tv, movies and everything else sucks. Thank god I could use YouTube and I got my all my Vhs cassettes.
Thumps up if most of you remember seeing the trailer from either the Mulan VHS tape or The Bug's Life VHS Tape as a kid. Just hearing the music here brought tears to my eyes.
i just rewatched this today, and i have to say it's so beautiful. the artwork, the storyline--everything is so emotionally perfect. so sad that the disney renaissance is over. hopefully they'll turn around and start making some good 2D animated movies again in this new decade!
I remember seeing this for my 7th birthday and my friends and i loved it! we would go around beating our hands on our chests like tarzan. I love the fact that i grew up on the movies of the Disney Renaissance and even today I still watch these movies a lot because they're just awesome!
My Gosh. This trailer, the nostalgia, the animation... This is definitely one of my favorite movies ever.

Whada ya think You Tube was invented For?

I totally agree. I was born in 98 too and I love to watch "old things''. I wish I could of grown up in a different time cuz now tv, movies and everything else sucks. Thank god I could use YouTube and I got my all my Vhs cassettes.

Those are the three you picked for Disney's "good hand drawn" films?
Bluebelle9289 8 months ago
@Ktbailey2 Also being born in 91 we got films such as Silence of the Lambs, Pulp Fiction, Unforgiven and Fargo, nice and wholesome films.

Thumps up if most of you remember seeing the trailer from either the Mulan VHS tape or The Bug's Life VHS Tape as a kid. Just hearing the music here brought tears to my eyes.

Zooroonies 1 year ago
It certainly is not a fan made trailer - it's an offical Disney trailer. And a real fine one as the volume of comments on this page attest.

i just rewatched this today, and i have to say it's so beautiful. the artwork, the storyline--everything is so emotionally perfect. so sad that the disney renaissance is over. hopefully they'll turn around and start making some good 2D animated movies again in this new decade!
H4LfAd1ME 1 year ago
I always admirated this movie from my 6 yrs.
I'm really sad about the disney's movie of the 2000 yrs, now,, its only computer animations and that's always misses originality :(
BUT I SO WANT TO SEE TOYS-STORY3 and I'm actually 14 ;)

Looking at the majority of the current animated movies, its like companies dont care anymore. I guess the 90s was when they were focused on quality.
pyrodogg 1 year ago
Wha? The Toy Story trilogy was made made by people who "don't care"???
pwgr2000 1 year ago
I remember seeing this for my 7th birthday and my friends and i loved it! we would go around beating our hands on our chests like tarzan. I love the fact that i grew up on the movies of the Disney Renaissance and even today I still watch these movies a lot because they're just awesome!
