  • y did they mess up the video

  • Is there anyway I can send money and get some copies? I only have one and it is not in the greatest shape. Where are you? Where does your mom live?

  • This is amazing! I am so excited to have found this footage. My mom is in the red top. I have lots of pictures of the group, The Royal Tahitians...this recording is priceless! I hope to find more. Thanks for posting/sharing!!!

  • My mother is in the blue top, Joan Johnson-Burgeson and my Grandfather is Henry Johnson. Do you remember my mother?

  • @micheleisanders

Hi Michele...my mom is in the red top. Have you shown your mom this recording? I need to show my mom, she will love it!

  • da haole man strikes again hehe

  • this show is kinda a racist, but that would dope if they brought back a revised version instead of wack ass aladdin

  • I love how mcuh the guys are enjoying it and the women looked scared...losing husbands

  • woohoo! bring back tahitian terrace!

  • Is this from A Trip Thru Adventureland 1956?

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worked as the fireknife dancer in 1988 at Tahitian Terrace. Anthony Dafun, and I really enjoyed it. There was alot of good people that I worked with that year. I also worked as the fireknife dancer at the Disney Hotel for the summer shows in 1986 and1987 summers when they used to have the nightly shows on the lagoon! Smiles!!!!!

  • I love the look on the ppls faces in the crowds. The men are getting soo turned on, trying not to show it, and some of the women look like hell, but they are getting turned on themselves after awhile. You can tell. Bet they had fun in bed at the hotel that night, lol! Love it:-)

  • I remember eating at this restaurant when I was little (early 80's)....sure, wish it was still there!

  • cool vid. they're all pretty. but the one in blue's the prettiest. anyway, nice find. thanks for sharing.

  • sheesh looks like some haoles wanna take em out back and beat em with clubs. "looks guys we're not savages" lol

  • I remember being at the Tahitian Terrace in 1985. My mom wanted to try it out. The show was fine. Little did I know something.

  • THAT MAN IS CRAZY!!!!!!

  • Didn't you read the warning; Professional stunt people. Do not attempt? He's been fully trained.

  • I was blown away by this video!!! Does anyone

have more videos like this in the years of

    1966 to 1969?

You see I danced in this show at disneyland in

these years. (after this video was shot.)

The groups name was the Royal Tahitians.

The leader and M C was Henry Johnson. Timi Turi was the fire walker. Timi was the worlds

best drummer and taught many tahitian drummers how to drum. What a classic this

    video is!!!!! Rosie

  • Hey, my wife also was an entertainer at the Tahitian Terrace. At that time her name was Lei (Leialoha) Fernandez. I dion't know the exact years that she was there. She also danced at Kono Hawaii on Harbor Blvd. We still see Mrs. Kono every so often.

  • @rosemarycamposcota Ia Orana. I dunno about any more vids from back then, but I know that there are several videos of a Tahitian dance troupe called Tunis Royal Tahitians...is this the same group? I dunno if they participates in Heivas or Fetes, but it looks like they are more into to only performing, and not competing;)

  • Actually its the samoans that do the fire knife dances not the tahitians. I liked the video! I never knew disneyland had that before cool! thanks for share it.

  • I remember going to this at Disneyland as a kid. It was wonderful! Too bad it is no longer there. Some of the changes that Disneyland has made have been good ones but some things never should have been changed. This is one of those.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Absolutely. This was one of the highlights of Disneyland. They should NEVER have switched it.

  • of course you guys know that Walt wanted Disneyland to be constantly changing. even though lots of people wanted somethings to stay, walt intended for disneyland to be constantly changed to fit the times. who knows? maybe one day disneyland would have that feel of the old days again. but for now...we got hannah montana and HSM. =/

  • Does anybody know how to do the traditional Hawaiian dances anymore? I figure if they brought it back, they could tie it in to Lilo and Stitch somehow.

  • I know the traditional Hawaiian dances, being Hawaiian and all lol

  • You know what I mean. We don't exactly live in a day where tradition is prized. It tends to be regarded as old-fashioned. Glad you know them. They did specific dances in this routine, and I wonder if the choreography notes/music is still available.

  • they should bring back the Tahitian Terrace...Aladins Oasis sucks...sorry but its BORING. Bring back Tahitian Terrace!

  • Your right. Maybe we should start an internet petition to get them to bring it back. lol. Who knows?

  • Wow retro disneyland...that's awesome
