Wow, being in Miami in 2005; maybe having a Grand Piano ! But i don't think that's his wedding day ! For whom did he played that tune; i just don't know ?
It's not OK to miss/alter notes when they're difficult, speed up the parts you're good at, slow considerably when it gets tough, or play a sudden, unexpected fortissimo hoping it will jolt the listener into forgetting the series of blunders you just made. He's employed nearly every dirty trick in the book, complete with theatrical gestures, to give the impression of a competent performance. Fudging your way through a piece that's beyond your ability will not fool pianists with a discerning ear.
No matter what performer or piece, there will always be someone who complains. If it was the composer himself playing the piece there would still be someone saying he's 'playing it badly'. Just ignore them.
Oh, silly me! I must have been mistaken. This performance is both technically flawless and artistically brilliant from start to finish. How could anyone find even the smallest fault with a legendary performance like this? Pianists like... GAVRYLYUK... are rare indeed.
I was in this particular concert when this was taped, the whole concert was as amazing as this piece, he got standing ovations after each piece. I strongly recommend the DVD as well, it captured the essence of the live presentation at its fullest.
Heard him in Lodz in Poland two days ago. He played the same piece as his encore. The whole audience was totally stunned and gave him a full standing ovation with bravo's and wow's. Incredible pianist he is.
I hope someone will post his Mozart/Volodos Turkish march! Also he is going to be playing i n Queensland May 24? And I hope someone posts his Rachmaninoff Piano Sonata No.2 :):)
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform with the San Antonio Symphony last night. AMAZING!!!

@theBOREDlooking1 Well, the Horowitz recording is right there. It's not like anyone can pretend Gavrylyuk played it anywhere close to his level.

Okay, so for those who are less discerning than you claim you are, why not point out where you mean?

No one is claiming it's flawless. Your sarcasm is patronising.
