Roger Rick Nick Syd AND David FTW!!!! (if Rick and Syd were alive today vthey would kick Lady Gaga, Justina Beaver, Disney, Rappers, Beyonce, Nikki Minaj and Katy Perry's asses
I'm so far behind the times. I've been a fan of rock for 35 years. I've always enjoyed Pink Floyd (as well as other artists.... Who, Beatles, Moody Blues, Doors, etc). But it was only 3 days ago that I discovered the OLD Pink Floyd...the 1967 Syd Barrett era. Wow...all this time I've been missing out on genius classics. I can't stop listening to their first album...The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. And I love viewing every video from their '67 early days. This is TREMENDOUS. Thx Pink Floyd!
@IsraelyToons- i trust that after 6 months you now have the WHOLE album? Why you need guidance is laughable! It really isn't very difficult to get hold of, legally, or otherwise.
the best psycodelic LP of all time, and of course the best Pink floyd LP. I dont know what happen if Barret dont turn sick... maybe the best band in the word?
agree, although it was in the 70s when they had the most success, even though i like their sixties stuff, esp the first two albums, totally awesome and original.
Listen to the MONO version! It blows the stereo away completely! There are plenty of missing sound effects, vocal effects and other overdubs in the stereo version, and the band wasn't involved with the mixing at all.
The current remaster of "Piper..." has both, though. And the 3-disc version, which I think is now only available online, features the band's 1967 singles ("Arnold Layne," "See Emily Play" and "Apples and Oranges) as well as b-sides, alternate takes and amazing packaging!
Syd's "Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" springing from his shining brow on his first album, ably abetted by the ever faithful Rick Wright (later cashiered like Syd) on keyboards. soloist on instrumentals overs Syd' rthymic picking and scratching. Pure English Home County genius!!!!!!!!

@kwyjibosinkus Yes, I feel the same way. The 1970s Floyd bores the hell out of me. Another Brick In The Wall is good.

Accurate statement, once u ponder it. There were about 4 versions of Pink Floyd. Take it fwiw.
Like him or not, Roger Waters had a genius quality and dropped knowledge on people as a gift. Also, Waters' commentary on things is very accurate.
