There has never been a single cohesive canon in the DC Universe, just a collection of current canons, past canons, and alternate canons from which one can pick and choose, much like folklore. So no, this show is definitely not canon. But not everything DC lets into print is canon either.

Smallville worn out its welcome when they kept shoving kristen klunk down our throats well after Lois Lane was introduced with little to no regard to the show's internal consistency. We complained because it was a real world issue seeping into the fictional one;namely mrs Klunk contract.

@ddd82451 But Smallville did show that a serious, wide scope comic based tv series was viable and doable; hell a lot of comic book fans did put up with the tween dwama just to see what they came up with next. I did like Bizarro, Cyborg, Green Arrow (who doesn't get enough love in the comics) Aquaman and others being presented to the "mainstream". smallville proved you CAN make a show about superheroes without being a cynic about it, sure it had its pitfalls but it lasted TEN YEARS dammit.
