The last song he played was "Misty" And after about a thousand guitarests made it there own. Joe comes along and stole the show. You are a sick man. No cure.
Not a bad rendition of the Tommy Emmanuel version of Borsalino. Have to say I like Chet's version better - gives the piece the sensitivity it warrants. The music is the theme from the 1970 French movie of the same name, composed by Claude Bolling, a renowned French jazz pianist and composer.
Tommy Emmanuel said, in a recent interview that Smokin' Joe Robinson is much better on the guitar than he was at his age and he has a very bright future ahead of him.
Chet atkins? I'm almost certain that was Jerry reed this guy was playing, unless i'm missing something...anyway, fantastic playing, your phrasing's amazing mate.
@pommy1100 freak???? OMG WTF ......... it's just becaus that U just realized that U never gonna be so good like this boy.......( go fuc* yourself!!!!!)
@vinnothelizard Please don't say this kid is better than Tommy Emmanuel you slack-jawed troglodyte. The kid is awesome but only someone who knows nothing about music would say something like that. Seriously dude, wake up to yourself.
@MikeTangoSA You think Tommy wasn't this good when he was 17? He was in a touring band when he was 6. I'm taking anything away from Joe trust me, he is awesome.
I saw SJR last night at my local haunt the Brass Monkey! What a talent! Amazing local guitarist Stewie French was in the audience and I overheard him say and I quote, 'Well Joe, I didn't think you could get much better but you have'. He's still a teenager but if you're a music fan do yourself a favour and see him before he get's global!!! I have one more thing to say,
@heartnhead john mayer is in a different category all together hahah hes so relevant here its not even funny, Mayer is a song writer with immense guitar chops....this kid joe is a guitar player....i have no idea about his song writing skills.....
I was in the market for a vintage jazz guitar and came across Joe...What the heck? What an amazing young guitarist. He is as smooth as Chet Adkins. I am so blown away by his remarkable talent, that I watched every one of his videos. Joe looks like he is around 16 years old yet plays like a master. Thanks for sharing this young mans outstanding guitar playing on youtube.
All the stuff he plays sounds like Tommy Emmanuel. Let's hear Joe Robinson Joe! I love his playing but man he sounds JUST like Tommy, I'd like to hear him kind of branch out a bit if possible.
@Musicislove123 You can even hear that Tommy has a lot of Chet Atkins influence... that's a wonderful thing. You are wrong with the fact it sounds the same.He puts a lot of his own licks, as you can hear in the Blue Moon cover. He got a lot of Tommy's influence for sure as thousands of young guitarists, but is far to say that sounds exactly like him..even Classical Gas sounds a lot different from Tommy's cover. Damn, can you find a better way to play those tunes being respectful of the orginals?
@noelmeehan Well let's look at it this way. Tommy has influenced thousands of artists. As has Chet Atkins, but the thing is that guys like Doyle Dykes, you can tell it's Doyle, but you can also hear some of Chet's influence in there. I love Joe's music but I honestly have a hard time telling him apart from Tommy. If I listen with my eyes closed I really hear no difference. There's nothing wrong with having influences. I just would like to hear "Joe" and not "Tommy"
Thank God there is new breed( generation) in line with great guitarist like Chet Atkins, and Tommy Emmanuel, and guys before them.. it's not a loosing art after all. Great Joe...
The last piece was the most impressive to me. Not that it wasn't all incredible =)...but I think it would do Joe justice to slow down Jerry's Breakdown just a touch..

For someone that is confident in Martin guitar sound, he sure has to spent an awful lot of time trying to convince people.
