Yup, I suppose since this vid was from some cheesy commercial for McDonalds in 1988...let's see, that was almost 24 years ago; it might be safe to assume some of these elderly actors have died since then. Quite the quandary there, I guess. I cannot stand fast food/junk food or Mickey D's in general; that iconic bad food harbinger to the nutritionally inept. Sorry for the rant, I just believe in eating real food. That's all. Peace.
I can't even tell you how many times I've stopped at the 24 hour McDonald's drive-thru, on my way home from work at midnight, and gotten the McDouble and small fries. 2 dollars plus tax; Dinner fit for a king, eaten before the exit to the other highway to get home. :)
It would be nice if they have Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick Sargent of "Bewitched" and Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman of "I Dream of Jeannie" as well for this classic commercial.
They should have made this into the wackiest sitcom crossover series ever. Maybe even turned it into a kind of live-action sitcom-crossover-based Wacky Races.
@deepeemark There might have been several versions filmed the same day, but not all made it to broadcast. It might also be that Don Adams' agent wanted about 20 times more money if Don had a speaking part in the commercial. I once had lunch with Al Lewis(Grandpa from The Munsters). He was at a film festival promoting a new movie he co-starred in, called My Grandpa Is A Vampire, a children's film. What a talented cat! By the way, he is featured in the documentary "Coney Island"(PBS)
This commercial is just charming. With the exception of Beverly Hillbillies, I pretty much grew up in the 1970s watching syndicated reruns of all their respective classic tv shows (I didnt get to see Beverly Hillbillies until after I got cable tv in 1996). Get Smart, The Munsters, Gilligans Island. and Leave It To Beaver. Ah, memories.
I met Ken Osmond at the grand opening of his cousin's bar here in Reno. He came next door to my work place because he heard I wanted to meet him. We chatted for 20 or 30 minutes. I asked about his career and life and he asked about mine. He had a very generous smile and was a real person. I forgot who he was after a while and just chatted with him like we were old friends. I was very impressed and will never forget it.
a "new" large order of fries? like they never had a "large" size before at mcdonalds? or a double cheeseburger either? like they had to "bring it back" did it go away for a while?
I think he's in this briefly. Look at 0:05 in the car seated next to Buddy Ebson. Is that him? I wonder why he was not featured like the others in the spot.

RIP Mrs. Cleaver, Jed Clampett, Gilligan. Is Grandpa Munster still alive?

@benschlechter No, Al Lewis passed away a bit of a while ago, in his 90's. I think he'd had one of his legs amputated, from some sort of illness??

@sirbarksalot195 I had always heard that Ken Osmond was really a nice guy....not at all like his Eddie Haskell character in Leave it to Beaver.

I'm sure this has been pointed out, but I saw Maxwell Smart at the beginning, but he didn't have any speaking lines. Kind of odd.
Also, I suddenly feel the need to go on a McDonald's run, and I haven't eaten there in months... Damn, those guys are masters at advertising.

You are correct about Don Adams. This is actually a pretty cool commercial idea, consider it is McD's

Yeah, it really is a shame they don't have any more fun commercials like this anymore. Heck, they rarely, if at all, use Ronald McDonald anymore.
NeroMaddox 3 years ago
Yeah, and don't even get me started on how they shafted Grimace, Birdie, and the Hamburglar.
NinjaGhostScorpion 3 years ago
Yeah really. I don't even remember the last time they appeared in McDonald's commercials. Other than that it was really long time ago.
I miss 'classic' McDondald's commercials. *Sigh*.
