Another great one gone...Thanks for the years of tunes, Mark! Was listening to this driving just this week...Fire Down Under & Narita are staples in my collection and always will be...
Have this on vinyl from back in those days. Very talented and underrated band (and some would argue..."influential" band also.In fact, some of you ARE arguing about the "influencing" heh...IMO everyone borrowed from everyone in the early 80s, and most of them probably didn't even realize they were doing it. It was a great time, with a lot of excellent releases). Thanks for the upload, very happy to hear this again after all these years.
Awesome awesome stuff. So may great unknown bands from this era and movement. It's a shame. I guess they had a lot to compete with back then but these guys should have made it. How does a band like Nickleback or Theory of a Deadman become popular? Sad sad music industry. Is it illegal downloading or crap artists that are tanking them? Equally strong case for both
I was 15 in 81.I wish I had heard of these guys back then.I remember hearing swords and tequila some time in the early 80's but i didnt know who did it and it was the only song id ever heard of them untell youtube.I like every song on this album but swords, and this one are my faves
This is the melody of consternated king, sat within the darkest, most morbid chamber of his rough-stoned castle, contemplating the imminent destruction of his once splendid kingdom.
Quiet Riot sucked! other than Randy was once a part of it! I heard this album before maiden, metallica & preist. thought it was the heaviest thing ever! been a long time since I've heard these songs! and they still rock!

Barboneggiate and get drunk, you know just what to do! w the great Italian music, w Italy and Naples! Go and hear Nino D'Angelo, namely the ABC of European pop music instead of deleting the comments, asshole.
Th first notes of the intro look like the Italian song "Io che non vivo senza te" by Pino Donaggio. Anyway, Altar of the King is a very powerful song. I like it.
this song brings back memories! my brothers and i played this song at a Christmas party to throngs of unsuspecting friends, families, kids, babies, lolas and lolos at a Filipino party in the 80's when we were 16, 17 and 18 y/o. sporting long black hair, wearing concert jerseys, tight jeans...we had comfortably placed ourselves in the "out" crowd! LMAO!
Raise your fists!! This is what it's all about!! Real metal makes you feel like you did when you were young. Such a gem of a song and a very underrated band. Been a Riot fiend for many years.
When this album came out I saw the tour at the Cleveland Agora, small venue, standing in the front row, guitars in my face the entire evening. They played the entire album, first to last song, it was unreal! They sounded perfect, extremely tight. I will Never forget that night. All for about $7.00.
Metallica came to town (Indianapolis) Sept 17, 2009. I got a program for the World Magnetic Tour, and I saw the pics of Lars in the Riot Fire Down Under T-shirt. If any of you have a program, you know what I'm talking about. That was the first time I had heard of Riot. Anyway, this sounds pretty much like the NWBHM bands that Lars liked. But you can tell that they're American. Does anyone know how popular this band was? In '81, I was only 5 years old and never really heard of 'em.
I think Metallica got the idea for the intro to "Damage, Inc. from the intro to this song. Metallica's version just sounds like a repeat of this intro.
Man... I will neva foget when this album came out... This is what it is all about ppl... Guy was a great talent. These boys neva got there qudoes they deserved.
When I first heard Road Racin' on the Castle Donnington tape, I had to get Narita and then FDU. I saw Riot with Kiss and Vandenberg in the early 80's. Rhett Forrester was singing and his mic went out for some reason and he threw it down and stalked offstage with the band still playing???!!! I think the lead guitarist finished singing for Rhett. The rhythm guitarist's amp stopped working and the lead guitarist had to finish the solo and song. Had a lot of respect for the band, but not Rhett.
Ive been a Riot fan since I discovered them back in the early 80's and they are the best kept secret in rock and roll history along side the Sensational Alex Harvey Band!
Riot should have created a Riot, but alas, they remain in the quagmire of long forgotten bands that should have made it far beyond the likes of Priest and Maiden!!
they were awesome but they had too many band problems, lineup changes all over the place.I guess they hated each other , but it doesn't show in there music.Riot forever.

Love Narita and their Debut "Rock City" Great stuff on Narita if only Steve Loeb would have produced Narita the production was rushed bigtime for Capitol records there is quite a story involving the whole matter on Narita. Sammy Hagar knows whats up I think he should have helped these guys more if he had anything to say about it. Anyway I say Production was the reason.
