  • I luv ur hairstyle & accent

  • Comment removed

  • burn the lithium then put it in the water and it with react as violently as potassium

  • evanescence-lithium. :)

  • but will it blend.....

  • Is it toxic?

  • 0:40 WHOLY SHIZ, EINSTIEN BACK FROM THE DEAD 8-0

  • other than putting it in water, what kind of fun things can you do with lithium?

  • @yaklin104 burn it, or make a lithium salt like lithium nitrate and you can use it to make red flames if you want some lithium nitrate or chloride i can send you a small amount (as i have a shit ton).

  • Lithium is reactive .Lithium rects with nitrogen in the air and forms lithium nitride forms black color .niice experimrnt also shown . Very good n excellent video too.

  • okay, l don't really get 2:20

so lithium reacts whit nitrogen gas to form Li3N. And then Li3N reacts with vapor water H2O to form Li3NO, but what he said was nitrate, and nitrate is NO3, that means we get LiNO3, how is it even possible? I DEMAND A FURTHER EXPLANATION !! THANK YOU

  • ...I'm so ugly, that's okay 'Cause so are you...

  • thumbs up if the sound produced from igniting hydrogen in a test tube sounds like some one kicking a puppy... i'm a horrible person, I know.

  • that dudes hair rocks. I bet hes had it since 92 when he were rockin to nirvana

  • What type of oil is used to avoid the Lithium from reacting with the Nitrogen in the air and the air in the container?

  • my equilibriums off must be the lithium.

  • I made I a huge mistake when I was doing experiment I tried to remelt lithium in test-tube and I didn't know that it has a big melting point and it ignited it's self and burned my desk I couldn't put it out so your college is write about lithium fire.

Another thing when I throw the rest of it which didn't burn to the end in water it exploded like it was potassium.

  • I've opened a lithium battery. I think that it smells like candy.

  • Evanescence's lithium too :)

  • I'm trying to imagine the Professor listening to Nirvana! :)

  • a pop song called lithium, its a song by nirvana thats from 92

  • i love this channel. i am fucking learn a lot from it.

  • @KhmerD0g too bad you didn't learn proper grammar ;D

  • @MrKayetanBucker

    u too didn't learn proper grammar. #LOL

  • If lithium is that reactive why would you ever dream of putting it in your body? Would love to see the LD50 test results for this substance.

  • would have been cool if you had talked about the chem in lithium batteries :P

  • I forgot a good point but interesting facts regarding stuff like elements like these and other things in life can help science be more inviting. However, there is no succession when nothing has occured. Has there ever been a scientist who tried to figure out a way to make science fun for people? A scientist who never quitted figuring out something that makes it easier for people too stressed daily to learn. Maybe that's what they must do is learn not to be stressed... through science?

  • dudeee that one dude with the crazy hair sounds like salad fingers :P

  • u touched lithum with your bare hand

  • I have had 6M HCl, 3M H2SO4, pure copper sulfate, bromine, and half a dozen other things all over my hands; my skin is impermeable to it, so I am fine. ;)

  • @1RadicalOne wow your that amazing

  • Who said anything about amazing?

My skin is physically and chemically different from yours - for reasons I would rather not disclose - so I can withstand what would burn and/or poison you. Nothing "amazing" on my part.

  • Hahaha, awesome... he knows Nirvana :)

  • hey, why are u touching Lithium with yur bare hands, not a good habit.

  • Shh... no body move. That professor has a sheep on his head.

  • nice video!! keep it up!!!!

  • Lithium by Nirvana is a pop song now o_O?

    WTF lol...

  • @yo0yo0yo0 theres evanescence

tons of songs are called lithium

  • he said he isn't at home in pop or any genres of music... so give it a rest

  • If you are as disgruntled as me about this new video format YouTube has tried out at precisely 3:45 this afternoon send a message to YouTube saying you hate the new video format. Tell your friends about this message too.

  • Your a professor?

  • "energizer e2 lithium" batteries have a nice lithium foil in them but taking apart batteries can be dangerous (I get lithium out of them all the time but i'm a dangerous person) and be sure to keep it in mineral oil if you try this...

  • @YupHio do you take the lithium? I had a friend that got messed up bad on that

  • @J444123 Take it? You mean like eat it? Um, no, I'm not that retarded. I just use it to do chemistry experiments and it can be fun to play with.

  • @J444123 people would take a compound of lithium, not actual lithium

  • Hmmmm...

    Lithium - Nirvana?

  • i managed to get lithium metal from Energizer lithium batteries!

  • its a bitch to get it out but do it under mineral oil and itll come out shiny.

  • srsly? how? i have some!

  • @hybridpyrotech Fantastic fun that

  • @hybridpyrotech me too

  • @hybridpyrotech Advanced lithium!

  • @hybridpyrotech thats the only reason why i buy lithium batteries

  • yes, its in lithium batteries but in some lithium battersies are ions not lithium metal. with opening a lithium battery i get my first lithium metal :).

  • @Frresh123 lithium ions are still lithium, it just has a different charge

  • @J444123 : i know that Li+ is Lithium but its just simply not the great lithium metal, so Li+ is for this useless.

  • im not sure but is'nt there lithium batterys?

  • yes, watch NurdRage's video of getting the lithium out of the battery.

  • yup!!!! those contain actual lithium AA batteries!!

  • Mhmm. Lithium-Ion batteries. Those rechargeable ones in laptops nowadays. Before it was nickel-cadmium.

  • Lithium Ion batteries does NOT contain Lithium.

Why is there an ION ...

  • lithium cyanide

  • In school I was not buddnig scienist regard chemistry but there was not my Achilles heel evidently, now I can gain some more about this how interesting science. Thank You

  • lithium carbonate

  • LITHIUM NIRVANA

  • That's the only reason I always remembered Lithium for science class lol

  • this show is really,really wonderfull,thanks priodicvideos

  • I coulda sworn he said it smells like piss. These guys are pretty cool.

  • dirty nappies.

    even better!

  • haha!

  • the professor is soo talking about nirvana!

  • I would literally kill for a professor like him

  • That dudes hair ROCKS !!

  • lithium Nirvana!!

  • He was talking about Evanescence's Lithium

  • most likely nirvan, cause kurt was depressed and used it

  • cool mug,

    no,

    coofemug!

    lol

  • The guy shouldn't have touched the lithium without gloves

  • ...they have PhD's in chemistry, i think they know what they're doing.

  • its fine to touch it....my science teacher always used to touch sodium with his bare hands,,,heck i remmeber holding it

  • Nappies, eh? I thought he said it smells like some kind of piss, which would be a cooler explanation.

  • still luv his hair

  • if i may request, do you have something about uranium decay, or at least another place where it can show me a video as well as you present it

  • another song is called Lithium Flower. nothing to do with lithium just the title.

  • Infact Lithium is a big star in Thermonuclear weapons. Lithium Hydride or Lithium deuteride, which was used in the TX-17 Nuclear weapon for its two stage device. Lithium-6 was also used in the two stage device for Castle Bravo for its Tamper fission.

  • What the heck is a nappy?

  • A nappy's a "diaper" in Britain.

  • ahaha the professor knew about Nirvana : Lithium

please guys explain chemistry in a physics standpoint , vibratiosn and waves!

  • its grunge tho not pop

  • i found lithium in a 3 Volt battery. I puted it in water!

  • you can put a lithium fire out by piling table salt on top of it

  • A very well presented video.

I hope you don't mind me posting a video response, I thought you would like to see it.

  • So I guess should be worried if the lithium-ion battery in my laptop bursts into flames (which they are known to do).

  • i stumbled on these videos and they are actually kinda fun, i don't know why, but i can watch them and i feel like I'm learning shit i should have learned when i was messing around in high school

  • and wait was that pop song he was thinking of a Nirvana reference ? cause this dude is a whole lot cooler if it was

  • He said there was at least one, and there's a few, so he knows they exist.

  • yeah there are. at the time i just got so excited by science and that was the one i was thinking, so i connected them

  • Cool experiment. I ahve been fascinated with chemistry for quite a time now.

And the song Lithium is by Evanescence if i remember that correctly.

  • there might be a song called lithium performed by evanescence, but nirvana wrote a song called lithium before them.

  • Yes i noticed that :P

  • The adverts above the info right now have an ebtry titled "How to cut hair", lmao.

  • That old man seems very nice lol xD

  • I'd like to see some Francium :) Kinda like.... Burning in the air ?

  • I would not have the gut to touch even Lithium with my bare hands. Bad experiences with alkali metals, as you would imagine.

  • At the end, did he say it smelled like "gnat piss"?

  • Haha! Dirty nappies :P

  • I never thought about that. If you have a major fire with lithium, you are in trouble!

  • I'd be interested to hear how or why lithium is used in treating certain psychiatric disorders.

  • Or Nirvana.

  • So can I buy a Lithium energizer and use to cure a bipolar disorder or manic depression?

  • give the nice man a break

  • looks like a kidney bean
