The truth of the matter is that Joel is an extermely talented accordionist who can adapt & "compete" in any style, just ask him to play some Vallenato & see what he puts together. But like Hohner1973 saids it not about competion it's an artform and respect for various music styles & at this level of playing you can't ask for better it's simply personal preference

I understand. The bajo player had just accompanied Joel and the workshop participants on Idalia and some other tunes and I think more than anything was surprised that Joel even asked him to accompany him on this improv. Javi actually sings and plays bajo sexto with Ruben Vela.
