Wt, body type, even breast size... it all means nothing if you dont know how to move it, how to use it in a way that expresses your incredible abilities as a woman. Just as our bodies are individual to us, so is the way that it moves and what is seen as attractive movment. Dance your heart out Mardi... My girls and I are amazed at how easy you make it look. Mardi Love has a beautiful talent above any other dancer. As I have said before, dancing of this nature is poetry from the soul. I think that as individuals we all are able to move our beautiful bodies in a fashion that accentuates the curves. the fluidity of sensual and creative movement knows no body type, shape or weight. She has a true womans body... look at the Greek Goddesses.... you will find it strikingly similar.

I'm happy to see this. I had two kids and I was often afraid to belly dance because I went from super thin to curvy. I am a bit smaller than Mardi Love but she has completely inspired me. :-)

Amazing, I love it. Rachel Brice wasn't kidding about being inspired by her style (if one can believe Wikipedia :p). I don't think she has a little extra weight, I think she looks normal and healthy. That's something I love about watching belly dancing, you don't often have to look at people who starve themselves, because these women generally seem to love and accept their bodies.

@defaultus3r I agree with you, Mardi is beautiful and healthy. However, I want to addess your comment on women who are vey thin. Some women are born unnaturally thin, I eat as much as anyone but I am underweight, my bones show because that is how I am made. All my life I have suffered "support" for the anorexia I do not have. It got so bad in high school that I wore bulky clothing to hide my body. So please, support every body type, even if you think thin women have it easy... we do not.

I do understand that some women are sick and starve themselves to be thin, and that is tragic. But please support every woman's body :)

I was called "bony" my whole childhood, now I get called fat for a slightly pear-shaped bum, I get fed-up of people not being able to focus on anything else than bloody body FAT.

Enjoy the creativity, the class, the interiority.....

Anyway Mardi dances just perfect with that round body of hers, but it wouldn't suit someone like.... Rachel Brice. Should she ONLY dance in her bedroom ?

Well technically you don't need extra weight as the dance is for women of all shapes and sizes and even some men dance and you still want a healthy weight. Though that said, it is easier to dance when not underweight. The skinnier you are, the harder to have to work to show moves like shimmies and all that. But if one works hard and practices a lot, in the end it doesn't really matter. :)
