I am Muslim my self and this is a second time I watch the passion of the christ , it is a very good movie and in other hand it is a very sad movie :( I have to say Jesus well done how he did that .......
i love this movie nd weird that he really felt he as getting hit nd beaten in the scenes. we are son of God like Jesus for those who dont believe God nd Jesus Christ will make them believe eventually as it happened to me. i wasnt a believer but by my broke down in my personal life i was approached to Jesus nd God nd i witnesses that e have to believe nd pray. searching for God is the most precious thing you can find.
jesus is not son of god, god is eternal the perfection and jesus is his prophet and his humain being just like us and his chosen by god like all his prophets
@TheAmine90210 Kid i think you don't know anything. He Is not just a prophet God The Father Transformed into The Son "Jesus" and died for our Sins, And Resurrected To Give Us Eternal Life.!
Watching this Interview has made me relize how much Mr. Caviezel is focused on Christ and keeping Him in his life and I admire that because I have always wanted to be an actress and I am a Christian and if I do get live out my dream of being an actress I don't want to leave God out of my life so If I get to be an actress, I think Mr. Caviezel will be my role model because I don't want to leave Him out of my life. No matter what profession God leads me to.
its not about him playing Christ, its about his skills as a performer, if Hollywood is that bothered by the fact he played Christ then why not of blacklisted, h.b Warner, Jeffery hunter, or Robert Powell?? I think Caviezel involves religion way to much in his work, he needs to leave that at the door and just focus on the job...
@latinalovin83 Jesus isn't exactly an easy role to get down. Experience in a subject is KEY to acting. His religion is key to him being successful in his Job. How can you act as Jesus if 1) you believe he never existed 2) dont believe he is the son of God 3) loves the character he is portraying 4) knows and studied the character with a biased view. lacking in those things hinders the believability in acting.
@marineboy090 that's your opinion, which I do not agree with, an actor is an actor and that's all I see, and in the end that's all that matters, when it comes down to it, it really doesn't matter what his religion is or what his lifestyle choices are or any personal convictions for that matter. A truly GREAT actor can sell any role no matter what, doesn't matter his background. You don't know much about acting do you?
@latinalovin83 um, yes, actually i do. I am studying to be an actor, and experience comes into play 99% of the time. if the viewer sees an actor as an actor during the movie, then he/she has failed her job. the point is to believe he Jesus, and to do that you must recall everything you know and feel about Jesus. like i said, how can you play the son of God, if you don't believe he was the Son of God. All it would be is acting, therefore, failed.
@marineboy090 not about to argue with some inexperienced wanna be actor. Like I said GOOD LUCK you'll need it. you have a very poor attitude and you won't get far in this business with it.
@marineboy090 And please don't tell me your studying to be a "Film Actor" lmfao. A real true actor starts on the stage but like I said you would know nothing about that because you wanna be a movie star, your all about the celebrity and know nothing about the passion. There's too many of you, so boring.
@latinalovin83 wow you know nothing about me and here you are judging me. Real actors start with connections in theater. real actors set goals for themselves. I could care less about the celeb status. And your right, actors do start out on stage, but i dont think we are thinking about the same stage, i dont do drag, which is what you seem to be interested in. and like i said, just because youv acted for a long time, doesn't mean your good.
In February, 2010, James Caviezel made his sixth pilgrimage to Medjugorje, and afterwards travelled to Vienna where he gave an interview to Christian Stelzer, check it out.

i think everybody looks good with long hair and a beard and walkin around in a comfortable robe, goin to work or something, in the train. but thats just my opinion :P
Nice to finally see a 'famous believer' that is actually educated. I am always impressed with this guys answers when someone questions his faith. Please continue to speak through him, O Lord. <3
Jesus died for all our sins. The pharisees hated him because of prophesy fullfillment. In addition, there were leaders who did not follow the Laws of God, but rather the ancient Babylonian pseudo laws, when many Jewish leaders were living in Babylon. Their beliefs were not of God.
that is wonderful...Jim CAVIZEL IS REALLY NICE ACTOR ...I LOVE HIM ....THEY FOUND the right actor to play THAT MOVIE...BECAUSE HE LOVES JESUS..AND HE UNDERSTANDS THE MEANING OF PASSION OF THE CHRISTY.
It was obvious to me, as far back as Thin Red Line, that Jim Caviziel was destined to be one of the major A list actors in Hollywood - say, on the level of a Christian Bale. The fact that Caviziel has not made it to the A list is more than obvious that Hollywood has "blacklisted" him because of his role in the Passion of the Christ. You don't need to be a genius to see this.
I don't think that they could've picked a better actor for this part. Even in The Thin Red Line, something about James struck me as very serene and transcendent in a genuine way that it extremely unusual among Hollywood actors. He doesn't seem to carry their typical pretense. I know he isn't Jesus, but I can't imagine somebody else doing a finer job.
I am Jewish by blood and by faith and I can say the film is beautiful. The vibe it gives off, the music everything about it. Christians are gentile, kind people and they have my respect.
God and religion are two separate things. Science backs scripture, more and more every day (please keep in mind that most of the scientists making these discoveries consider themselves atheists or agnostics, not christians). Granted, the standardized KJV has many mis-translations, but the basis of truth is there. Want a literal text? Try the Hebrew and Greek, which most of the original scriptures were written in. God calls us to love, not judge, not hate, not discriminate, and not name call
@MW3Fanboy I pray that ignorant people like you will one day see that God is logic. God is nature. God is creation. Mankind seems to think we're so smart and we know all the answers when really there is so much we can't explain yet. Or rather, we can explain "how", but never "why". The "why" is where God comes in. On a different note, if you want people to see your opinion as credible, try not saying "fuck" this and "fuck" that. Very immature and unbecoming.
Tyvm 4 posting this. It certainly has received some insane comments. Jesus is the ONLY WAY to God the Father, He died for our sins, yet people r 2 full of pride in their finite knowledge 2 believe in 1 Infinite God. What ridiculous creatures we R! the hardest thing 2 believe is that He loves everyone who posted here yet I believe He loves everyone enough to die a horrific death 2 save all but those 2 proud 2 accept His love and mercy. Eternal life or eternal death all decide 4 themselves.
Caviezel, by playing the role of Jesus, had to have Our Lord with him at all times. This movie touched so many.
People who believe they have committed the most unforgivable of sins, and couldn't get their heads wrapped around the concept of God's unremitting love for them, experienced His mercy and love while watching this movie.
It's no wonder that Hollywood has shunned Mr. Caviezel. It's no wonder that the devil seems to always be hounding Gibson.
@MsGrandmacarolyn AMEN! As Jim recently said, "Mel Gibson does not need your judgement, he needs your prayers."
Jim deserved an academy award for this role - not the shunning that he still receives - he is a fantastic actor and true artist. It is unfortunate how this world treats anyone who has anything to do with Jesus.
Keep praying for Mr. Gibson, and Mr. Caviezel, if you love the Lord. Their movie has changed lives and brought people to Jesus, of course the world, & satan HATE them!
three lightning strikes... makes you think, no? 1 to Jim caviezel and 2 on Jon Mikalini... Oh right... it was a MIRACLE they survived, right? Riiiiiiiight... Suuuuuuure, God was very pleased... (Sarcasm off)
@Achilles1389 What? lol what dose Oprah have to do with this man. All I know dude is that the United States, Russia, India, South Africa, Japan and the majority of Europe is allied with Israel. Zionism is not insanity its common sense.
Places that have a problem with Zionism are fascist dictatorships like North Korea and Iran. So as long as your judging a nation that you haven't been to, I suggest you keep your mouth shut. What kind of proof is a video on youtube anyway.
@MW3Fanboy You are the one that was brainwashed by the Mormons, not me. Live your life with "no strings attached" ... but I see a crazy guy tied so tight to satan that he can't get free! You are right - no strings just lots of chains and only Jesus can set you free. The Passion was a movie, so parts of it are not the true story obviously, but Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life - and ONLY Jesus can set you free from all the bondage in your life. You are really burdened by hate for God.
@FunkyJunkyDNA5 lol im an atheist bro ive never been to a mormon assembly and have never watched a religous movie because RELIGION+ Stupidity and fear of death. and ive had a great life. and why do youg guys argue with atheist by using a 200 year old piece of fiction?
@MW3Fanboy That 200 yr old book is very relevant in today's society. Have you ever read the book of Revelations and noticed that every metaphor in it perfectly describes today's societies and events? I hope you will one day let go of whatever has caused you to have this hatred/doubt in God. It' probably pisses you off when people "preach" to you and it would do the same to me. I know preaching Christians can sound stupid or radical, I'm sorry if that has come off the wrong way to you.
@MW3Fanboy As much as people like to think they can live with "no strings attached", the reality is there's always gonna be strings attached. People who live like that don't seem to realize how much you hurt others and yourself in the process. Basically, kharmas a bitch. Your past and all those "strings" that you thought weren't there, will always catch up w/ you in one way or another. Everyone fucks up, but maybe think before you act so your list of regrets is shorter. I know the consequences.
@snoopy1390 Religion is a non existent string though I feel like chuches making you donate and being forced to be loyal to a religion is a huge hinderance on ones life
@MW3Fanboy Again, ignorance sucks. I'm sorry you believe that. No one is forced to remain loyal to Christianity or donate anything (although I'd say in Muslim countries it's pretty forced!) It's by choice out of love and a willingness to see the benefits it brings in your life. Personally being a Christian gives me so much more strength, purpose, and love than I would have if I merely existed to be a bitter atheist. Take care, I hope you find what you're looking for in life.
Wauw I've never seen this side of Jim, it really touched me, I am a believer in Christ, and I think it's great what he did and everything he sayed in this intervieuw was true.
The 2 main reasons Christ died was to show you what the dark forces will do to you, and also to show us how love can over come all tortures and killing.
it is true what Jim said from 3:25. "people turn their eyes away when they see it because they're seeing their own sin..it is that hard to look at.."I agree with that it even took me almost a day to complete watching this again because i know it will be extremely difficult to watch how He suffer because of me because of us. In every whip he receives i can see how recklessly i lived my life..it is indeed a big reflection of yourself..
Imadaivan, with my heart I would say: We are each meant to identify with the Christ. Christ suffers in every way that I have suffered, in every way that you have suffered. He bears all my suffering within himself. He bears all your suffering. Seeking union with him, we internally share His suffering. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. All who suffer are like the Christ, and we must save them. We must oppose the Herods and Pilates of our time.
In this film, Mel Gibson highlights the extreme violence of torture and killing. Yet our American government has killed hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, Nicaraguans, El Salvadorans, Panamanians, Iraqis, Afghans. The passion story about Jesus is a story. But what we have done is real. This is where we should feel collective guilt. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld mandated the use of torture in Iraq. Instead of turning away from this fact, we should face it, and put them in jail. Bush is guilty.
At 6:20, JC says "This film does not play the blame game at all, we're all culpable in the death of Christ." What? Does the 2nd part of this statement follow logically from the 1st part? To me, they look like 2 separate and contradictory claims. No one is blaming you, but by the way, you are culpable. Does Christian dogma try to make you feel guilty? For something you never did? Some of us escape this manipulative guilt by thought and logic, others of us feel obliged to become Christians.
@ReptileanGeorge I think what he meant is that nobody is exclusively to blame. Instead, he says humanity shares a collective guilt. Agree with it or not, but surely that's not so hard to understand?
At 3:44 JC says "This film forces you to see yourself ... the way God sees you." I think by this he means that, in the way that we can't bear watching an innocent man being tortured, God can't bear to watch us. Does this make sense? Does his statement about God necessarily and logically follow from the statement that we can't bear watching extreme violence inflicted upon a good man? Are we ourselves, really the whippers of Jesus? Or, are they just trying to make us feel guilty?
At 3:26, Jim Caviezal is quite wrong to claim that "People turn their eyes away [from watching the whipping] ... and what they are seeing is their own sin." People who are humane, people who hate violence, people who hate the torture of innocent human beings, these are the people who turn away. A sociopath would enjoy watching it.
@ReptileanGeorge watch that with your heart brother not your logic. Mark it that the whipping scene was only a few percent of his real torture. If you still consider that as sociopathic, you may googling fifteen secret torture of Jesus. The secret is revealed to the saint, a lover of God, St. Mary Magdalene, Claris Frances who lived, died and was held sacred in Rome. Jesus fulfilled the desire of this nurse who hopes truly to understand something about the SECRET TORTURE experienced JESUS.
@pred197 I heard Jim speak also at church recently, and he comes across as very humble and sincere. I could recognize him as a great artist because he had a hard time putting what was deeply in his heart and mind into words that fit his thoughts and feelings. I think he expresses himself best through acting and on the movie or TV screen. It doesn't make sense to me that Hollywood would overlook such massive talent and pass him by - or leave parts on the cutting room floor.
@FunkyJunkyDNA5 Hollywood is too scared to recognize talent when it comes through a strong Christian. Being a true Christian would mean not buying into the superficial glam and gossip that comes with a Hollywood lifestyle. It's rare to find a celebrity who's able to stay true to Christian roots and who cares about the heart and not the clothing, hair, makeup, latest scandal, all that nonsense that comes with Hollywood. I've been made fun of for being a modest and humble Christian, IT'S WORTH IT!
@bumnus So you want the work of Catholic artists and the familiesthat commissioned them, the Ricardi and Medicci families to go to protestant Churches? Where should the work of these artists go? Do you know what the word Catholic means? Once again after being so against the Catholic Church and having visited so many protestant worship places and spoke with so many people from just about every denomination, The Catholics are the strongest Christians and their Church is the most powerful.
what really is confusing me is, why was the stupid interviewer laughing when he asked, "How do you prepare, to to play the son of God?", he shouldn't of made it look like a funny joke! because it isn't!!
However ............... I loved the serious and firm tone that Jim answered the question, I loved the respect that he actually showed to answer such a special question.
he's such an under rated actor i can't believe it. Here you have a guy who's put 110% into this movie and he didn't get an academy award. If anyone deserves an academy award it's this man
@IChIDH you are not to blame. your sin is. Jesus chose to die for you, he and God love you that much, that Jesus CHOSE to die in your stead. the Bible says the wages of sin is death, so because of your sin, my sin, the world's sin, we are condemned to die, but Jesus took that sin upon himself, past, present and future sin, and he died in our place. He then rose from the dead, proving that he has over come death, death cannot hold him, and it can no longer hold us if we believe in him.
I am glad that Jim Caviezel mentioned the fact that this movie does not promote anti-semitism, and that the real message is for the whole of mankind to take responsibility for putting Christ on the cross. All of the wounds reflect our sins.
There is no god, my friends. The sooner that you come go grips with this (somewhat depressing) reality, the sooner you can lead a productive life. YOU have to make life decisions and suffer the consequences when you make bad ones. Do what is in you heart, be good to others and take responsibility for what you do. There is no magical invisible man waiting to reward or punish you. It is up to you alone. Good Luck.
@GrimReaperrrrrrrr From what I heard he (Jim) received Jesus in the Eucharist everyday to prepare for the role all during the making of the movie, the day he was struck by lightning was the day he missed mass and the Eucharist. Unless I'm mistaken, did anyone else hear this?
@GrimReaperrrrrrrr AMEN GRIM, ALL THINGS ARE POSSABLE IF WE HAVE FAITH! AN WE DON'T LOSE OUR FOCAS OTHERWISE WE WILL SINK IN THE WATER LIKE PETER>>>>>> SHALOM<<<<<
"turn their heads away and what they're seeing is their own sin" thats exactly how I felt the first time I watched the film, I wanted so badly to turn away but it's like God gave me strength to watch and cry and I didn't turn away... I can't believe he mentioned that, I thought I was weird for feeling that lolol... great interview, I love him so much
JESUS WAS A NUTJOB. A SCHIZOPHRENIC PERSON. ADMIT IT! THERE'S NO MESSIAH, THERE'S NO GOD. YOU DIE ALONE, YOU DIE AND THAT'S IT.

that is wonderful...Jim CAVIZEL IS REALLY NICE ACTOR ...I LOVE HIM ....THEY FOUND the right actor to play THAT MOVIE...BECAUSE HE LOVES JESUS..AND HE UNDERSTANDS THE MEANING OF PASSION OF THE CHRISTY.
bianquinha10100 8 months ago
It was obvious to me, as far back as Thin Red Line, that Jim Caviziel was destined to be one of the major A list actors in Hollywood - say, on the level of a Christian Bale. The fact that Caviziel has not made it to the A list is more than obvious that Hollywood has "blacklisted" him because of his role in the Passion of the Christ. You don't need to be a genius to see this.
antoniusbloch 8 months ago 43
@antoniusbloch i had the same thought!
charms71 3 months ago

May God always Bless them.

FunkyJunkyDNA5 9 months ago
@FunkyJunkyDNA5 lol im an atheist bro ive never been to a mormon assembly and have never watched a religous movie because RELIGION+ Stupidity and fear of death. and ive had a great life. and why do youg guys argue with atheist by using a 200 year old piece of fiction?
MW3Fanboy 9 months ago
@MW3Fanboy That 200 yr old book is very relevant in today's society. Have you ever read the book of Revelations and noticed that every metaphor in it perfectly describes today's societies and events? I hope you will one day let go of whatever has caused you to have this hatred/doubt in God. It' probably pisses you off when people "preach" to you and it would do the same to me. I know preaching Christians can sound stupid or radical, I'm sorry if that has come off the wrong way to you.
snoopy1390 9 months ago
@MW3Fanboy As much as people like to think they can live with "no strings attached", the reality is there's always gonna be strings attached. People who live like that don't seem to realize how much you hurt others and yourself in the process. Basically, kharmas a bitch. Your past and all those "strings" that you thought weren't there, will always catch up w/ you in one way or another. Everyone fucks up, but maybe think before you act so your list of regrets is shorter. I know the consequences.
snoopy1390 9 months ago
@snoopy1390 Religion is a non existent string though I feel like chuches making you donate and being forced to be loyal to a religion is a huge hinderance on ones life
MW3Fanboy 9 months ago
@MW3Fanboy Again, ignorance sucks. I'm sorry you believe that. No one is forced to remain loyal to Christianity or donate anything (although I'd say in Muslim countries it's pretty forced!) It's by choice out of love and a willingness to see the benefits it brings in your life. Personally being a Christian gives me so much more strength, purpose, and love than I would have if I merely existed to be a bitter atheist. Take care, I hope you find what you're looking for in life.

ReptileanGeorge 10 months ago
@ReptileanGeorge Okay you cannot compare the crucifixtion of Jesus Christ to the modern American government...
SweeneyTodd98 10 months ago
At 6:20, JC says "This film does not play the blame game at all, we're all culpable in the death of Christ." What? Does the 2nd part of this statement follow logically from the 1st part? To me, they look like 2 separate and contradictory claims. No one is blaming you, but by the way, you are culpable. Does Christian dogma try to make you feel guilty? For something you never did? Some of us escape this manipulative guilt by thought and logic, others of us feel obliged to become Christians.
ReptileanGeorge 10 months ago
@ReptileanGeorge I think what he meant is that nobody is exclusively to blame. Instead, he says humanity shares a collective guilt. Agree with it or not, but surely that's not so hard to understand?
CMTours732 10 months ago
At 3:44 JC says "This film forces you to see yourself ... the way God sees you." I think by this he means that, in the way that we can't bear watching an innocent man being tortured, God can't bear to watch us. Does this make sense? Does his statement about God necessarily and logically follow from the statement that we can't bear watching extreme violence inflicted upon a good man? Are we ourselves, really the whippers of Jesus? Or, are they just trying to make us feel guilty?
ReptileanGeorge 10 months ago
At 3:26, Jim Caviezal is quite wrong to claim that "People turn their eyes away [from watching the whipping] ... and what they are seeing is their own sin." People who are humane, people who hate violence, people who hate the torture of innocent human beings, these are the people who turn away. A sociopath would enjoy watching it.
ReptileanGeorge 10 months ago
@ReptileanGeorge watch that with your heart brother not your logic. Mark it that the whipping scene was only a few percent of his real torture. If you still consider that as sociopathic, you may googling fifteen secret torture of Jesus. The secret is revealed to the saint, a lover of God, St. Mary Magdalene, Claris Frances who lived, died and was held sacred in Rome. Jesus fulfilled the desire of this nurse who hopes truly to understand something about the SECRET TORTURE experienced JESUS.

Jim is awesome! He spoke at our church this past Sunday and moved us all to tears... He has an awesome spirit and the Lord is truly with him...
pred197 10 months ago 2
@pred197 I heard Jim speak also at church recently, and he comes across as very humble and sincere. I could recognize him as a great artist because he had a hard time putting what was deeply in his heart and mind into words that fit his thoughts and feelings. I think he expresses himself best through acting and on the movie or TV screen. It doesn't make sense to me that Hollywood would overlook such massive talent and pass him by - or leave parts on the cutting room floor.
FunkyJunkyDNA5 9 months ago
@FunkyJunkyDNA5 Hollywood is too scared to recognize talent when it comes through a strong Christian. Being a true Christian would mean not buying into the superficial glam and gossip that comes with a Hollywood lifestyle. It's rare to find a celebrity who's able to stay true to Christian roots and who cares about the heart and not the clothing, hair, makeup, latest scandal, all that nonsense that comes with Hollywood. I've been made fun of for being a modest and humble Christian, IT'S WORTH IT!

Larettadude 10 months ago
@bumnus So you want the work of Catholic artists and the familiesthat commissioned them, the Ricardi and Medicci families to go to protestant Churches? Where should the work of these artists go? Do you know what the word Catholic means? Once again after being so against the Catholic Church and having visited so many protestant worship places and spoke with so many people from just about every denomination, The Catholics are the strongest Christians and their Church is the most powerful.

-O.I.A.A.I.O-
IChIDH 10 months ago
@IChIDH you are not to blame. your sin is. Jesus chose to die for you, he and God love you that much, that Jesus CHOSE to die in your stead. the Bible says the wages of sin is death, so because of your sin, my sin, the world's sin, we are condemned to die, but Jesus took that sin upon himself, past, present and future sin, and he died in our place. He then rose from the dead, proving that he has over come death, death cannot hold him, and it can no longer hold us if we believe in him.

Good Luck.
