  • Is the video card welded onto the motherboard?

  • hello greetings, buy HP Pavilion g4, pre-installed Windows 7 Starter, which is too simple, and look for a cereal and I could upgrade to ultimate, one day I found a system called windows8 download and install it, but it is in English, which do not quite understand and are not registered and I can not install the updates, so I can not switch to Spanish and try to restore the factory system, but disappeared recovery Manager, please re-install and recovery Manager?

  • nice video you posted and thank you..i did replaced my laptop motherboard same model with yours and i saved a lot..now it looks like it's a new one again..thanks again and you're great.

  • Good video, I put the laptop back together and I have 2 extra screws lol. It's working though. One other comment, I don't think you mentioned that there are 2 other screws on the right side holding the screen to the base assembly.

  • lil piece of advice... you should remove the battery and do a 10 sec drain beofre you use a screwdriver in a computer

  • this is why i mainly use desktops -.-'

  • JJG...i have the same problem like your computer .same model. i replaced the motherboard ....put it back together .. .. and when i turn on the computer , the same problem ... do you think my processor is failed ... ,,? only the cpu i didnot change ....i donot know what else i have to do ..... pls help thanks.....,,, your video is great ...

  • @ardy9693 make sure the cpu is lock..i mean the screw is all the way lock clockwise..it happens to me and i turn the screw al thwe way clockwise and it works perfectly.

  • Hello,Just wanna share a tip...I had the same problem with one of these dv2000,I heated the video card chip next to the CPU and while heating it pressing it down for like 3 min. Leave it cool down then re-assembled. Works back perfectly.

  • Me watching this video means HP no more. Extremely dissatisfied with heating problems. Went to service under warranty, was good for a while, now it's heating again. The heating assembly in this computer it's appalling.

  • I would like to know if you know how to fix the microphone on HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop? I don't know how it stopped working but when I try to video chat the other person hears static, I can hear them fine. Can you help me? Thanks :)

  • @archieboop

Make sure it's hardware and not software before you disassemble. Try the sound recorder program in windows for static, and check if you need an audio driver. If you feel the mic is failing, it can be replaced. I don't show this in the video, but the mic is embedded in the LCD display. Disassembly instructions are in the pdf linked in the above description, so you should be able to follow those. Unfortunately, I don't have access to this model anymore, or I would film it for you.

  • @JonJamesGordon

How do I check if it's the audio driver??

  • what happened to your laptop after you replace the motherboard? where's the next video?

  • @markdhen

See the video description above for the link to part two (you may have to click "show more") or click my name for a list of my videos (which just includes this repair for now)

  • Great video buddy.. I took my dv2000 laptop apart using your video, for the purpose of replacing my power jack.

I already have the new jack but cannot seem to be able to remove the jack itself from the little bay.

Is it attached /soldered to the MB?.

How do you remove the right speaker.. Mine seems to be lodge slightly under the DVD drive.

The power jack is seated right under the right speaker.

    Help!!

  • @bullifieds

I don't have it now to record the process, but I can give some tips

Speaker is blocked by DVD drive, you'll have to remove it. It's held in by 1 screw on bottom and pops right out. See 7 mins into my vid.

The jack has a cable connecting to MB, it is the larger white connector on the top of the MB. In my vid, around the 13 min. mark you can see me remove it with speakers

The bay that holds the jack comes out after 1 screw. Remove jack from bay then. See page 187 of pdf in vid desc

    thanx again.......

  • @jayd2rock Glad you find this useful! The reassembly is all filmed and being edited now. Expect to see it in the next day or two.

  • I LOVE THE PC REPAIR BUNNY!!!!!!!

Awww, you seem so exasperated right at the beginning... but you soon get into the swing of yourself!

Your camera needs to behave and refocus when you hold stuff up to it! Bah!

I can hear your voice so clearly! You made excellent video/audio choices! Nice editing for 14 min!

I learned so much! I love how easy it is to remove each piece... removing the keyboard and then the screen was so freaky! Naked computer! Amazing how you can remember how each piece goes!

  • @Usagiflower - Thanks for the comment! Yeah, for a first try, I think the video is ok, but there is much improvement to be made. Stay tuned for the re-assembly video.
