  • Who could run a place like this? The fuck is wrong with humans??

  • i agree. go veg:)

  • this is sooo tear drawing i mean the mother cant eaven touch her baby its so sad

  • nogerdsurg. I am flattered that out of all the comments you replied to one I made a year ago. It also seems you agree with me regarding sow crates. The point I was making is not that Abraham was a child killer, but that it was considered quite acceptable for parents to kill children. Your points about Molech actually back up my arguments. We have moved on with our attitudes regarding "ownership" of children, and it is time we did the same with animals.

  • I recently found out that free range farming is cheaper. I believe that the farrowing and gestational crates are only for profit, and many are becoming rich and richer because of laws passed where the factory farmer is required to have them. It's justified by lies told of its benefit. This type of farming is hazardous to the enviornment, cruel to the pigs, unhealthy in the factory and the cause of Swine Flu. Who cares as long as the rich are getting richer.

  • This footage is heart breaking. Thank you for sharing it, please spread it far and wide. Thankyou for rescuing the 2 piglets.

  • Its all about looking at the bigger picture.

This is a part of the capitalist profit plan. Humans have had ham and bacon for ages. We havent been treating our animals this way forever though. Its only when profit are the major factor suffering becomes a part of the agenda. I will never stop eating pork. But I will never support a capitalist society either. Remember that there are humans living very similar to this as well.

  • @moOswe If you eat it then you financially support it

  • @ByeByeBelly Once the day has come their money wont matter. Untill then I play their game.

  • @moOswe well if you financially sponsor it then you're a part of it just like the slaughterer trying to make a living and just like the farmer who keeps them in the cages

  • @ByeByeBelly Trust me when I say that buying meat isint the only way of supporting a corporation.

Il let you in on a secret. Theres far worse things going on than pigs being treated badly. For one thing theres multiple wars going on as we speak because of greedy corporate leaders. The same corporate leaders who make money on bacon make money on bascially everything you can buy. Even if you dont eat meat you support these people...

  • @moOswe refusing to buy the meat decreases the demand and therefore decreases the amount of animals artificially inseminated and bred for slaughter. Animal activists research these things because we're passionate about it so I dont buy into your excuse of why you still think it's ok to buy it and eat it and support it. And I don't measure suffering but you obviously do comparing human suffering to animal suffering. we feel the same amount of pain so either way it's suffering.

  • @ByeByeBelly Aaah! The mind of a sheep... You dont get what Im sayin do you? Demand only sets the price..! New price = new market.

What im saying is that it doesent matter if you buy meat or not. As long as we let the same people own everything you will support them even if you dont know it. What Im saying is that this is part of a bigger picture. The corporations are to blame and people like you are too stupid to see it.

  • @moOswe I'm not stupid or a sheep, you just need to realise that you're using excuses to try and cop out of taking any responsibility. Like I said, millions of vegetarians and vegans around the world bring down the demand and so lessen suffering. If you can't understand that then there is something wrong. You can shop at some evil corporation and by the cruelty free options they have and that sends a clear message and affects the market. So no its not pointless you're just making excuses

  • @ByeByeBelly You are indeed a sheep since you dont listen to anyone else but yourself. Ive looked at your page and found out your not exactly thin. Infact you are kinda the oposit of thin (no offense meant). Even if you dont eat meat I would bet a lot of money on you buying sweets instead. Those sweets comes from the same owners who owns meat factorys. So what Im saying is that every human who exist in a capitalist society support wrong doers by simply consuming everyday products. You included.

  • @moOswe You have no idea what I eat. Just because I'm not thin doesn't mean I eat 'sweets' or whatever you're talking about... God you're so ignorant. You go ahead and keep telling yourself this stuff so that you have an excuse to eat factory farmed meat and I guess it'll help you sleep at night. Sccording to your own crap, you're a sheep then because you "only listen to yourself". Being a sheep means you follow OTHERS which you're obviously following the herd.

  • @moOswe so that you can eat whatever meat you appear to be addicted to and can't imagine life without

  • @moOswe so I don't see how "there are wars going on in the world" gives anyone an excuse to participate in abusing animals.

  • @ByeByeBelly haha! Ofcourse you are not eating pork, you look like a pig yourself...

  • im horrified...

  • I rather they let them roam about freely....

  • Oh the ending is so heartwarming seeing the piglets in a natural environment I cried :) I just wish they could all be rescued!

  • All factory farming in all countries must be abolished

  • Some people have so little respect for any living creature, no wonder

    Crime is at a increase...

  • I seen one trying to break free and open it and the end. heart breaking.

  • Unortunately, it's exactly the same here in Australia. I hope that by posting these sad videos in my favourites, someone will at least consider buying only free range ham and bacon as available in Woolworths from KR Castlemaine. If we support only their free-range product, factory farming may end.

  • what pisses me off the most is naive people. honestly. i can't fucking stand naive people.

i tell my mum and dad about these things but they just don't believe me.

i've recently gone hunting with a friend and i've had so much stick from people because i'm a vegetarian and i went hunting. i never actually killed the animal. i just observed. the animal has had a better life. far better than these creatures.

we killed them instantly with a gun. straight through the head. but these poor animals...

  • Also, i read your other comment that you went hunting, didn't kill th animal, but they were killed instantly.. I just want to tell you killing is never ok, nothing wants to die, and all tremble with fear at the intention of being killed, animals can't talk but they know when something wants to hurt them. And even if it's instantly done , there is karma( bad karma) caussed by the action of killing. It is so sad because the human and animal both will suffer.peace.

  • One last thing, haha sorry for so many comments.. I hope you don't think i am on your case because you went hunting, I just wanted to share that there is very terrible spiritual consequences for all violence, killing and i hope you'll help your friend choose a more compassionate path for animals . I believe you are a good person. I also know what you mean about parents!!! Mine were not ready to accept either, but we can gently guide them. It is hard when they have eaten meat their whole lives.

  • i wish i could, but he's the brother of a friend. his mum and dad own a huge estate.

he makes a living by allowing italians to come over and shoot deer and game.

and he's a right prick. good looking, and totally up himself.

but he cares about animals. he never allows the animals to suffer.

He has very strict rules regarding how they kill the animals.

    1. must shoot them in the head

    2. must shoot the birds when they are in mid air.

he's also helped to conserve the population of the animals.

  • The animals STILL suffer, just tell him hey, i am going to kill you but i promise i'll do it nicely... do you think he or anyone would go for that? I know i wouldn't. It's sad for him because he will reap the negative karma for those offences, people always try to find excuse to justify killing or wrong doing, I am sure your friend has good qualities, and i hope he'll see the truth someday, peace.

  • believe me i already have.

and i don't know him very well. so i can't say too much.

and no, he doesn't have good qualities lol. like i said, he's a prick!

  • haha, your funny, why are you friends with him then? he must have something good about him, peace.

  • i'm not friends with him really.

i just know him. and have spent quite a lot of time with him...like i said, he's good looking haha

he's the brother of a very close friend.

    but he's a wanker.

once he killed a doormouse in front of me. just whacked it over the head. "eating and pissing over his bird feed' apparently. i hit him, screamed at him, swore at him, and cried my eyes out.

i looked to see if the thing was alright, but it was dead.

ugh. i've never liked him after that.

    tit.

  • that's awful, you sound like me i can't stand it either when someone hurts an animal, so hateful. Did his parents beat him when he was small? sometimes when people do those things it's because they themselves have been hurt someway. you never know.

  • oh no.

he's the pride and joy of the family.

there's 6 boys and 1 girl in the family.

his mum and dad love him to bits.

he could get away with murder.

i sure gave him a bashing when he killed that mouse. lol

hurt my arm (and his) in the process.

  • That's sad that he'd do that, maybe next time he'll remember his arm!! I'd have taken him to school too. I found a deer someone shot in the face lying in garbage left there, i wanted to smash the loser that did that, couldn't find him or her. I just don't get why they want to hurt em in the first place, peace.

  • omg that's awful.

i can't believe someone would kill an animal and just leave it.

at least my 'friend' uses the meat, skin, everything.

    that's just disgusting.

    i noticed you're from canada.

my parents have been dying to go there, but i've refused to go.

the whole seal clubbing thing is disgraceful.

how can people be so cruel?

  • That's why i was so mad, they just left her there in a pile of trash, like it was just cruelty for fun. I will send you a personal message, i think we are taking up the page, haha peace.

  • Comment removed

  • SADNESS.

  • Also, if even one person changes, and goes vegan or vegetarian we will be one step closer to shutting this down for good. It is not our true nature to eat meat. we can live very healthy and peaceful with respect for all life, God bless all people who let go of greed and desire and ignorance and became vegans or vegetarians you are all so special, peace.

  • couldn't have put it better myself x]

i've been a vegetarian for 5 years now.

yes, it's hard at first. i think i just ate potato products for the first year haha. but you do start to eat and enjoy vegetables (this is coming from a person who was overweight and NEVER ate fruit and veggies).

i also hated quorn at first, now i can't get enough of it! yumyum

  • Thank you for your comment, that is so great that you became vegetarian! to do so means you have great compassion for life. When people eat meat, they are against the spirit of compassion and it is very sad because there is karmic retribution for suffering, whether it be human or animal. Someday things will be different, peace.

  • I too thank you for exposing these horrors.

I really cried when I saw that precious baby in the bath. Your video made me extremely proud to be a vegan. I hope those involved in this receive special blessings, someway, somehow. Much love to you all.

  • NZOpenRescue, thank you for exposing the horrors of pig farming and for liberating the piglets that you could.

How very kind of you to do this at the risk of your own freedom.

  • I went vegan 3 months ago, don't know why I waited, it was nowhere near as difficult as I'd first thought, in fact, now I'm enjoying it so much and how good does it feel to know I'm not contributing to this horror for these beautiful, innocent beings. Vegan now for life.

  • Bravo to you, abamovich!

  • That is sooo AWESOME!!! congrats. I have been vegan now for 3yrs. and i am sooo sad for my past ignorances, I believe all life is equal and all life has buddha nature in it and thanks to an awesome teacher i learned the truth. Compassion for all life is the only way to stop suffering. I have had so many people tell me i love the taste and i can't give it up and i tell them all you are doing is taking pleasure from another's pain and their death. It is so great that you changed, peace.

  • sik cunts i am a farmer and if i ever had pigs like that i would be discusted we sould stop this shit from going on !!!!!!!!!!!

  • This shit makes me ashamed to be human. We're such evil, disgusting creatures.

  • :))

  • I was happy when I heard Radiohead :)

This inspires me to go on rescues of my own, and everyone should go vegan.

  • GO VEGAN!

  • oh my god that was sad.

why aren't people rescuing these animals? a lot more people should be taking these pigs, to make a difference.

did you guys call the spca?

  • thats sad go animal rescuers!!!!

  • Good job guys, keep going until those "farms" are all shut!

  • ...so sad... I nearly cried...

  • i did cry

  • i'm still crying...

  • you are amazing, thank you so much

  • This is a beautiful, inspiring thing.

  • THX

  • Vote green!! They are the only party that will do somthing.

  • Well, I wasn't a pork eater before and I for sure never will be now. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video. So so moving.

  • Half of pig farms in NZ don't use stalls or crates (Gregory and Devine, NZ J.Zool., 1999). Greedy farmers however enjoy extra profits from pig suffering.

As for the argument that the pigs would not exist if they were not being bred for food, that same argument has been used to justify parents killing their children. Fortunately we have advanced since Old Testament times when nobody questioned Abraham's rights to kill his son, and it is time we did the same regarding animals

  • @kiorekiore Why didn't you mention heathen nations in the Old Testament sacrificing their children to Molech by throwing them in fire. Drums were used to drown out the children's screams. God has never gotten anyone to murder their children for Him. Abraham was tested to show his faith in God, but God stopped him before he killed Isaac. I believe deep down Abraham knew it wouldn't happen because he told Isaac they'd be back.Heathens killed their kids all the time; just like present day abortion.

  • We say we are kind and humane to animals - But there is absolutely no justification for consuming them - yet, we do. We imprison them, torture them, then slaughter them - all without REASON. Man survives fine on a plant based diet. It is better for human health, better for the environment and certainly better for the animals. Go Vegan.

  • Watching u guys rescue those beautiful piglets and speak so passionately against the cruel practices they're subjected to, gives me a lot of hope. Because cruelty towards animals is justified by so many (several of them on youtube) using all kinds of irrelevant arguments. Makes u wonder if animals will ever enjoy true freedom?

  • But they do exist. They are alive, and any live animal deserves to be treated better. Would the same argument hold for humans that don't have enough money to house or feed or care for their children properly?

  • Thanks so much guys. I totally respect your courage. It must be horrible seeing and doing all that you do but I respect you more for being able to walk away. That must be the most painful part. Thanks for getting the message across to those who are ignorent. :)

  • this is deep!

  • You can help.... PARTY VOTE GREEN!!

They are the only party that will put a stop to this!

  • i agree vote green party!

  • Greens for life!

  • I am a HUGE fan of open rescue. THIS is what animal activism is all about: saving lives.

  • NO more bacon & egg burgers for me!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to vote with my money!

I think the GREEN PARTY wont to stop this evil, but the Nat's and labour don't give a toss!

  • what is the song playing at the end?

  • The song is 'Fog' by Radiohead.

  • Makes me sick.

    mad

    agry

  • this fills me with rage and makes me proud to be vegan. i'm very inspired by you guys. i'll never stop fighting for animals who suffer like this.

  • That was an excellent film. We fully support your courageous efforts.

  • This video made me cry. Its so sad, and it's not just NZ it's happening all over the world. These conditions are not the exception in agriculture they are rule. I was so happy to see the beautiful happy piglets at the end. Thank you so much for the video. I wish everyone could see the truth.

  • How do we know which pork products are from free range/non factory farms?? I think factories are appalling and one day I'd love to have my own lil farm with rescued animals in it.

  • You don't, unless it says "free range" or "humane certified," which is pseudo-compassion. Giving animals whom you are exploiting *slightly* bigger cages, and less painful deaths is not the answer. Not only is "humane" farming impractical (because of the property status of animals, thus loopholes in the laws and systems), but it is still wrong. No one deserves to be exploited and killed for frivolous benefit. People don't need to eat or otherwise use animal products to survive.

  • Go to humanemyth (dot) com to learn more.

  • This makes me proud to be a vegetarian. Most people think that this sort of thing doesn't go on in NZ. Those people are BLIND. The piglet looks so happy at the end. That is how pigs should live.

  • even worse is that it doesnt only happeb in NZ it happens all over the world(not like u dont know)its terrable. :(

  • this makes me wanna cry. poor animals.

  • I agree

  • This evil practice is an absolute disgrace to the good name of New Zealand. How can anyone justify such torture just for the sake of a tasty morsel? Is this progress? People who would not buy goods made by child labour are themselves guilty of terrible crimes when they buy these products. Pigs are beautiful sensitive creatures with feelings. How can we begin to know how much these desperate, innocent, lovely animals suffer? Their whole lives are continuous torment from start to finish.

  • Good work Open Rescue for exposing these appalling practices for all to see. The majority of corpse-munchers hide from the truth about who they are eating and the conditions in which they are reared. There are healthy & cruelty free alternatives out there in the big-wide-world, it's just a matter of looking. Anyone who liberates any life from any form of concentration camp can only be considered a hero in my opinion, especially knowing they'll have caring homes in which to live out their lives.

  • if not you, who? if not now, when?

    dont wait to be invited......liberate!!!!

  • This is disgusting !

Is there any way we can possibly stop it ?!

  • CVFA

The UK indusry is going down because it was forced (rightly) to stop these barbaric practices. The problem is they are competeing against the other farmers who are NOT forced to have their pigs free range. If you want to help buy British Pork.

  • Thank you , This happens all over the world , Animals suffer for human greed, It is so wrong !

  • When I hear that the ' pig ' industry here in the UK is going DOWN - all I can say is GOOD ! This is just so NOT RIGHT to treat any animal like this - to deprive all natural mothering instincts - to deprive them of all natural ways ! How cruel - how greedy have we become to believe that this treatment of any animal is acceptable ! Pathetic :( I am so glad I am in no way responsible for this kind of suffering !

  • Thank you for making such a touching, important film to spread awareness of the miserable lives factory farmed animals endure from birth to death. The rescue footage at the end is priceless, who would want to eat these precious creatures?

  • omg,those poor animals

  • that little piglet at the end enjoyed that bath so much

  • This treatment totally sucks! Poor defenseless animals. Just another clue to how cruel mankind's become and a proof that capitalism (=greed) will fail quite soon (no, I'm not a "commy") coz we are all sucking out every possible shit out of this planet just to make a buck or two. This is crazy, aint it?! Now, I wonder: what the hell should I eat tomorrow. I love fish, but - how's the fish doing? Any clips available, or should I start cooking my "water soup" any day soon? :S

  • Touching...

    Sweden, Stockholm

  • This is horrible, absolutely horrible.

I sure hope they don't do it this way where I live too (Finland), I wouldn't want to have eaten meat produced in these ways...

  • i started to cry after watching this. I hope the people who misstreated the animals like this will be punished, they deserve it.

  • Oh, so cute piglets! I want to eat them!

  • Good work guys, it is so so sad to see animals treated like that, I only wish that the person that did that could go to prison for a very very long time or something worse for misstreating the pigs like that, it is horrible...

    From Sweden here.

  • he has no idea how lucky he really is!!!

now if we could just save them all.

if not you, who? if not now, when?

  • Aww he's getting sleepy in the bath. that's adorable. I love piggies... Good job.

  • GREAT JOB!!

  • ONE LOVE!!!u guys did a excellent job-it made me cry seeing how the poor sow tried to take care of her babies and just couldnt....its humans that are the most brutal species on this planet....just wish we had the place and money to save all of them.......Earthlings is a film to watch 4 all the people who still think meateating is ok----which IS NOT TRUE---real LOVE is VEGAN!!

  • That piglet looks so happy having a bath! Good work guys! I hope I can join your team one day. X

  • Well I'm not a Vegetarian but also don't eat ALOT of meat. I believe there is a right way and wrong way to do everything. This is the WRONG way to farm pigs. Also if you DO eat meat, know that when you buy animals that come from poor living conditions their meat is also poor/injected with hormones. The biggest way to solve the cruelty is to know where your meat comes from. More importantly DON'T BUY FAST FOOD. I garauntee you THEY use farmed meat.

  • Thank God I'm a vegetarian...

This is so awful, I cried.

  • I'm still in shock how humans can continue to exploit animals without any remorse whatsoever! It's people like who who truly make a difference for the lives of animals everywhere!

  • Great job Deidre and team! thanks for giving the human species a lesson in survival and compassion. Yours for a vegan world.

  • Dear westie2001, And I'm sorry to say that humans eating piglets is not terribly uncommon either. Only we force them to live painful, deprived and degrading lives before we brutally kill them. Free range isn't an answer...the worst suffering I've ever witnessed were the free range pigs being killed at the abattoir - screaming, frothing at the mouth, eyes bulging/searching for a way out while they were being relentlessly electric prodded to the knife.

  • There is a significant body of scientific research that promotes loose farrowing of sows, as opposed to confinement systems like the farrowing crate.

This action has got people thinking about where their food comes from. Society can only benefit from the ability to make informed choices.

  • Also, the piglets have gone to a good home where they will get to free range and live out their natural lives.

For the two piglets rescued, this action obviously means the world. They will never be confined to crates and treated like breeding machines.

  • first of all they did not steal anything(open rescue, hallo!!)second: to save even one live is better then to save none and third:u should read these peoples channel and website and inform urself better....then u would see these people know exactlly what they are doing ....and four: GO VEGAN and stop calling people that do something young and naive....better then doing absoluttelly nothing and discouraging others by nagging......THINK ABOUT THAT!!

  • hey guys this is excellent... truly truly excellent... is there any way to tell whether the bacon/ham you buy is from places like this? putting aside vegetarianism as an option for now, can you buy like 'free range' bacon, etc.?

  • there are 2 brands that i know of: freedom farms and havoc farm

  • good job

  • Confinement stalls must be banned. Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention.

  • This video made me cry, you guys did a really good job!

    xox

    ana

  • Absolutely awesome.

  • A wonderful and courageous action for mothers' day. I keep thinking if only the mother pig could see the happiness of her rescued daughters.

  • congrats on making this doco and rescuing the piglets. It is horrible that this practice is still allowed. Pigs are considered smarter than a 3 year old child. Would we ever even contemplate allowing our children to be locked up like this?
