The only movie that really, I think, realized a truly Giger-esque atmosphere and gave a real voice to his designs was Alien. The rest of the films he was involved in did not give him enough...what's the word I'm looking for? Creative presence, I guess. His work was rejected in Dune; Poltergeist II used practically nothing of his work; this wonderful train wasn't utilized in the film and it just didn't have the sensibility Alien did. Looking forward to his collaboration with Scott again!

Since many years I've been enjoying Giger's artwork but watching recent stuff from diferent sources I have realized he has made some sligh changes to his original works . I can reffer to several detail but the most important is that a CURLED HAIRED GIRL is no longer part of his artwork, instead of that several female faces have took her original place including gigr's mother.

Hemitropie, maybe you could give some tips to keep sane and healthy. I admire HR Giger's work but it doesn't interfere in my personal beliefs nor it makes me sad or represent sickness in front of others. We all surely believe in a saviour but wiping off other's people's interests is a rather unwise method to promote salvation. Think of and you'll find better responses from everyone. Giger's savior is his art and he's to be respected as his fans and you.

I agree completly Nuke, the movie Alien was not enough to show H.R Giger's world. Though I have to saw a movie that is entirely made form his art whould be extremly disturbing to most of the audience unless it was made just for those who appreciate his art. Some kind of conflicting forces beetween the "Alien" extending into an entire evily technoliogical world against an advanced civilization of humans that are beyond the near defenceless humans in the movie Alien.

Zayon-what I loved about Alien is that it evoked the sense of wonder and some dread one experiences as a child in discovering something totally new. So I agree with you to an extent.

However while Cameron turned the alien into another bad guy that must be destroyed in a hollywood flick it was still an original idea. Bey's a hack and not in the same league as Cameron

Aliens 3 was basically a B sci-fi movie. They killed those great characters and gave us christian prisoners-nothing new was added

I'll add, while Cameron didn't offer us a new take on the creature, he did give us a kick-ass movie that pits humans against this formidable aliens and makes the scenarios seem plausible.

It hits our human frailties/pscyhe on many levels: the realization that monsters do exist, the terror of knowing they're intelligent and searching for you, the fear of death around every corner and knowing escape isn't easy.

It'd be unfair to dismiss this movie as another formulaic plot-people would miss out.

Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron considered making an Alien 3 in which they would do that.
