auditory explosion of lovliness,I love her music, the paino,it's so lovely, your extremly talented, you must feel so content when you complete such a satisfying melody,it makes my heart sing inside when I hear these note you play!Simply amazing!!!
Do you have the lyrics to this?? It's my very favorite song by her and the way her words dance off her tounge,I'm not sure if I know all the words.Although the small paragraph you've written above makes sense(I don't want to miss anything else)
Thank you for making this wonderful video, I could listen to this a million times!!
I've been learning to play this song off a transcription of the Jools Holland performance and I came across this. Your covers always have this force that seems to come from the clearest, most heartfelt places. This made me cry.
one thing i must know, how do you know what all her songs are about? I've been a fan for a long time and to this day can't figure out about half her songs. her lyrics are very abstract. I'm not one for writing or poetry at all and i do suck at interpreting things. although more recently since I've started playing them myself a few of the meanings have suddenly dawned on me
Thank you. No one really "knows" for sure what her songs are about, so these are interpretations. I read Piece by Piece and understand her writing style's use of word association that she talks about in a lot of interviews. Sometimes her lyrics don't reveal themselves until you or someone you know has been in the situation. Then it's like a puzzle coming together and like "Oooooh... that's what she is getting at." She lies about her song meanings intentionally too BTW.
Also, I think it was you who requested Sister Janet? I was getting ready to play it the very night I saw your comment about it. It was a super coincidence. It's up now. :-)
Lovely! I do agree with the comment below about it sounding feminine but your version of it much more so than Tori's. I mean of course her's sounds feminine its about a female and sung by a female but the way you play this particular song takes on more of that body of a woman who really needs some serious help... like the whole damsel in distress thing.
Thank you! I hear what you mean... Of course, as is always the case, if she relies on a man to help her, it will never get better. All they do is mess up everything that they touch. OMG I'm so cynical today. :-P
Thank you! There are a lot of different ways someone could play this song but I would have to say that this arrangement in particular was pretty challenging. Very good observation. Sometimes I do like the challenge but also sometimes I'm in over my head. :-) I won't mention which video that is today, but I will try to improve it soon. Thanks for your comment!
Oh, that sounds beautiful. I didn´t understand half of your info, but it´s obvious how large your input is, both artistically and intellectually. You seem to fully understand the complexity of the original theme and re-art another masterpiece. That amazes me ever since I first heard you playing. I wouldn´t think it´s a sad song, but fragile and in a way feminine. I love it just the way it is. Excellent Brian.
Thank you! Your description has made me think. I never considered it in those terms, but there definitely is something very feminine about Concertina. Lyrically, it is very sad.
