As to this pic... The body armour (those shoulder guards in particular) sort of reminds me of Byzantine lamellar cuirasses. The neck-guards are pretty Middle Eastern. These guys could be about anything - Avars gone a bit too modern, Seljuk heavy cavalry, or Thematic Byzantine Kataphráktoi. Or they're just generic made-up dudes. ;)

Ok, guys...I'm not saying that I know a lot but since I myself from those lands where that armory is an element of my nation's history I'd like to say that this type of armor was worn by mostly of Genghis Khan's heavy cavalry.
