@Mike1967b sounds pretty good to me. He doesn't drop the beat, and there is some improvisation to boot. I am a drummer (we tend to know these things). what does smack have anything to do this with this performance?
@shredswami most of his fills are totally off and there isn't much improv that isn't covering what could be mistakes. Oh yeah and I am a guitarist (we know stuff too). Oh and if you don't know, he was tossed from the band for his smack habit. I am betting that he was pretty tweaked during this performance.
@camballero Took out a loan, Berlin, Lien on your dreams, Spred your love, Stop, Weapon of choice, WHTMRNR(PS), Not what you wanted, 666 conducer, American X, Fault Line, Devil's Waitin', Mercy, Howl and All you do is talk... loved how they perfomed 666 conducer, Howl and All you do is talk... Cheers!
I LOVE how in their concerts, they just add on to their songs and that makes their songs like more awesome. Love this version more than the album version. And robert has some nice arms....
no if they were a band like black market karma, there would be no poppy opposite to great bands like this one and everything would be great. bands like this one are great because there is so many commercial crap.
BRMC is a fucking amazing band. Never have a heard a band that is so consistently good with every song they make. They're all distinct, and you can never forget them.
Peter uses that lovely ES-335 for Red Eyes and Tears and that's in Open C so I'd assume. I could be wrong it could be standard tuning. Goto a show, stay after and ask them.
Is it just me or does this control room show just not give the true experience of a live BRMC show? I have seen them a few times now and it was nothing like this, not that it sounds bad but their live shows are just dark and raw. One of the best live bands out there, blow me away every single time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Don't get me wrong, BRMC is good, but I can NOT say they are the greatest...mainly because they owe a large part of their sound to Jesus and Mary Chain (who pioneered this type of sound imho). I guess that I reserve titles, such as greatest, for the pioneers who have more creativity and push the envelope a bit more...basically, BRMC just does not offer much originality.
difference is BRMC do it a lot better than Jesus and Mary chain, who were just scrappy as fuck. Also i wouldnt call jesus and mary chain pioneers. Dirty garage rock has been around longer than they have
We are all entitled to our opinions about who is "better". I was merely saying that BRMC has not added much in the way of originality/creativity to this genre of music. No doubt that Jesus and Mary Chain incorporated elements of bands before them--just like the majority of every band today. However, they were not simply a "dirty garage band" (wow you could cover an endless amount of types of sounds in that one category).
The difference is that I can not recall Jesus and Mary Chain borrowing so heavily from one single band like BRMC has emulated them. I personally like BRMC (mainly because there are very few modern bands that I enjoy). I just think that they lack creativity, which I obviously value more than you (but that's your prerogative). Also, I disagree that JAMC are "scrappy". If anything, they are kind of mellow.
i dnt think u can say there not creative.4 amazing albums proves that wrong.there just pure rocknroll who cares if there not 100% original,no one is nowadays.
You hit the nail on the head ripples by saying that "no one is (original) nowadays". Hence, my resorting to also giving BRMC some credit--they do sound good. However, I just wish that more contemporary bands were willing to break out of the safety of emulating others and offer more excitement in the world of music. I'm not sure how many times I can handle the same sounds being reinvented by subsequent generations.
yeh i know what u mean.i hate when dnt like something cuz its not original to them or people like something tho just cuz its different regardless of quality, not that thts what ur saying, its just something that annoys me
Saw them with King of Leon last night... I was in the first row RIGHT in front of Robert for this song. He was literally two feet away. It was AMAZING.
as far as voice is concerned, I think Peter's is much more steady, solid and powerful. even in the high parts he never loses it. plus, his tint is just wonderful...
i love this song very much. this song is best
