JJust saw the you tube clip where Marti mentioned how the song came about, how he was in a Glasgow bar having a pint. He got talking elderly man who spoke to him about his life, how he'd lost his family and his marriage ended through alcoholism. And he said to Marti that you can't " Hold back the River" and they realised it would be a great title for a song. Marti's vocals are great here as always. Thanks to Nick for upload!!

What I remember about this song was that Marti was is a pub and Glasgow, he asked an old guy at the bar 'Why he sat there every night and drank" and the reply was "somebody has hold to back the river"

weren't Wet Wet Wet getting back together?.. They should!! and Scotland can be proud of them. The musical press never really liked them... record label wouldn't allow them to grow up. On that theory The Beatles would have been churning out 'I wanna hold your hand' forever more. ok ok! strange comparision lol. Wet Wet Wet are currently back together, they have released the singles all i want 2004 too many people 2007 and weightless 2008 that even became a top ten hit! they also released the album Timeless in 2007 and they are propably going on a tour in late 2009.
