    if something is twin turbo does not mean its faster than a single turbo, usually the twin turbos are smaller not in all cases, and one is used to power lower rpms and the other kicks in later, entirely depends how u tuned it. Single turbo usually means one bigger turbo and all the psi kicks in at once :) which tbh is more fun.

  • For me the 240sx is really fast that can keep up with the lightweight Crx with the H22A installed! I've seen a Crx lightly modded to beat Integra DC2 Type R and Evo 8so don't underestimate these cars!

Ok ex. my friends 2500 hd twin turbo diesel chevy truck (300 hp and 600 tq) vs my friends rsx type s (210 hp and 143 tq) I guarantee you the rsx will win. Why? pwr to weight ratio and tuning (for higher rpms, you can go top speed baby!!!!!)

  • that 240 was not twin turbo, its only single. And!!!! no the crx wasn't turbo, his shifting didn't align with the bov and plus theres a difference in exhaust notes, the higher pitch is def the crex's h22.

Torque is not measured in Horsepower. It is measured in Ft lbs. So just because it has 195 Ft. lbs of torque, doesn't mean shit for HP. I am also talking stock for stock. Swapping an h22 into a crx isn't stock then. I have owned the Ka and now an Rb. I know the power output.

  • Honda's blow. The only thing they had going for them was the s2k and NSK. Those are fine machines. The rest suck ass.

    That 240 probably was a sr20,which is a weak motor to begin with. If I would ever spend the money on an sr20 I would either skip that and swap in an RB(which I already did) or just go KA-T. Also, no one in there right mind would twin turbo a Ka. That would be the dumbest idea ever. If it truely was Twin turbo'd then it would be the Rb26. Stock pushing around 400hp.. do the math.

Adding two turbo's to a ka would be like adding 6 to an rb26. You just shouldn't. Have you ever wondered why 80% of Rb26 owners convert it to Single turbo? Think about it.

  • @Smoked240 they do it for many reasons, because of less piping, less heat is given off by a single turbo vs two turbo's, and its cheaper than having two big twins vs one big ass turbo. SR's aren't over played, they're great engines and respond well to modification. Twin Turbos are better for driveability because you don't have to wait for the turbo to spool up. Adding a big single tends to sacrifice low end for a huge top end. If you have the money I say keep the twin, one large and one smaller.

For drag racing twin turbo's would be awesome if you know what your doing. You don't have to take a twin turbo and slap a large one on it. There again, it all depends on what your doing. People have opinions. I will never be won over on an Sr. Ka's can be turbo'd for the price of a SR and can out perform it. Everyone just swaps in the Sr.

  • ok GUY, you can twin turbo the KA motor. It would need to be custom made but it can be done. Also it could be the JDM H22a engine which is more powerful than the H22a4 used in the states. Might I add that the engine has most likely AT LEAST I/H/E and for an N/A build you should be respecting that it can take a turbo'd car. Either way why are you complaining? The crx still won fair and square. Quit bitching like a little girl.

  • Actually the 2jz and rb motors are used in a lot of the sponsored drifting 240's you see these days.

    I would say it's because the front end can fit even a v8 engine and it's light for how roomy it is, not to mention it's almost perfect 50/50 weight ratio.

    That H22 engine is fucking beast though in a CRX, but I have to disagree that the 240 is a twin turbo, christ even a turbo 240 with the right mods and shit can keep up with a 300zx twin turbo.

  • Yeah i know that, the RB and 2jz motors are better overall than the KA. But we'll never really know what the 240 is, whether it's a twin or single, so I guess none of us are right. Beast CRX though, you're right. I drove a prelude with the H22a4 and that hauled damn good ass...I wish i had bought it...I'm regretting it now, haha.

  • amen brotha, I love the H22. The only issue with them, is the seizing. I recommend better pistons because the stock H22a pistons can't take a lot of stress for the high 200,000 mile range like those little 1.6L civic engines. It's just to much power at really high RPMs. I mean if you aren't looking for long life be my guest lol but shit honda's are troopers. The JDM H22 is the wise choice for sure.

  • That is true, but really I'm not sure anyone will take a prelude past 200,000 miles and still want to floor it. It would experience some big power loss being that old. But I would agree, probably around 100k (if i had a prelude) I would get a set of better pistons and throw them in there, while the engine still has some go in it. Speaking of 1.6L civic engines, my life will be complete the day I test drive a B16 lol. It's the only honda gearbox I havent tested.

  • well they didnt have to use forged internals.Didn't have to deal with turbo lag and turbos last about 40,000 miles. for turbo you need low compression pistons and for vtec you need high.

  • The VE (Neo VVL) series of engines is Nissan's answer to Honda's VTEC. The two systems are nearly identical. They use the same concept of multiple cam lobes to provide a low rpm cam ideal for torque and a high rpm cam optimized for hp. The only difference in the Nissan system is that the intake and exhaust cams are triggered indepedently for a flatter, more consistent power band. You can read more about the VTEC system here.

  • Actually no..they didnt. VTEC has been around as early as 1983, prototypes that is and first presented to the world in 88 in the CRX B16 then the 91 NSX. You sir are full of shit. VVL is variable valve lift, Variable Valve electronically timed is actually more advanced and is used more then just a lift in the exchaust cams today. VTEC back in 83 was designed to have a crossover in both intake and exhaust, while nissan's VVL was first introduced in 1994 in the SR20DET Blacktop. Redtops had none.

  • 1)You have to remember that when the H22 was swapped into the CRX, it gained a little more weight. Not only that, there is no torque difference between H22s.

    2)An H22 swapped CRX will pull just like that on a stock KA24DE (150hp/150ft-lbs). I've seen quite a few do that before.

    3)I couldn't find a SR20DET @ the time so a VE sounded pretty interesting. That motor is like WTF in hp/tq. I was pushing 325whp/325tq out of that motor with SR16VE cams, forged rods & crank from it's previous owner.

  • I would take a 240 over a crx any day. It's just a stock sr20det. If the guy did an ls1 or rb series swap or even rebuilt and turboed his stock ka he would eat any crx.

  • yea but look, the h22 was stock wit lil mods.. header, exhaust, and intake.. now jus think if he would of turboed or put a k series swap in the crx.. see u got to look at it from both views..

  • Yeah man, but I still don't think if he was turboed or had a k series swap, he could handle a 240 with a ka-t or rb26 swap etc. In other words it's alot easier to make power with a 240 and it's rwd. I can't stand fwd. It's not like I think crx's, civics, and accords are impossible to work with and be fast cars, I just don't see why some people (actually half the people I see on the road who think they have a fast car), think they are the BEST cars and hug their nuts.

  • well, i like both cars if u ask me, but i just think that 240 r not a good car for drag.. they goood for drifting.. as for a honda i love how a fwd can jus but fast , jus by pullin tires from the front.. the quality of the hondas r remarkable, but u got dum ricers who is just ruining them.. i worked on both and i had both cars.. but each car has its advantages..
