This is so cool cause it really shows the capability of the human mind. Its too bad most humans can only tap into like 10% only or whatever:( Imagine if we could all be like Reid. We would be so advanced in technology it would be ridiculous. 0.o
Although I doubt that would work for entire books. If only we could insert chips into our brains with all the information we need stored on it. x] Maybe in the future...
Yesterday my mom said that if I didn't quit saying random facts she was legally changing my name to Reid and shipping me out. Guess who wouldn't stop talking last night ? :)
Well, being around someone that knowledgeable and being constantly corrected can be annoying. Being rather Reid-ish myself with far too much information in my head for my own good, my friends get rather tired of hearing about different subjects or being correctly on facts. I get told to shut up a lot. :P
@monny287 Same here. My friends kind of get tired of my "super brain" as they call it. Its not really useful information either. It's just a bunch of random stuff, like the fact that an ingredient in tooth paste is volcanic ash... I need to remember to forget these things...
@kingofpopmichaeljman know that to, yet I can only read 3-4 pages, and I am only 6,7 and possibly 8 years older (Intelligence wise) then I really am, but I can not read that fast!
@randomgal8 The key word there is 'eidetic', not photographic. He probably can't remember something word for word from that long ago, plus since he's older, he'll be looking at it with a new and different perspective, especcially as it's through the eyes and mind of a profiler
I wish I could read as fast as him... he reads 20,000 words a minute, I only read 7-8,000... but I do have an IQ of 168 (No joke.. I'm three years ahead of everyone my age ... about to go to second year uni)
i can read 300 (rounded up, it was actually 289) words per minute. so that's just a little under average. but english isn't my mother tongue, so no wonder.
I'm only 14, and I read about 1000 wpm with 96 percent comp. and I have an IQ of 150 or somewhere up there. (no lies. teachers thought I might have a learning issue, so I had an IQ test XD)
@sarahandnickj No, regarding what you're reading, since you're reading as fast as you are. My sorry ass, is down to 80 words/min, and I dont even have dyslexia. :D
@sarahandnickj 690 is fast. How much do you remember? One iq of 117 is above the average in any age, but most university students has that much. Reed has an iq of 189, eidetic memory and reading speed of 20.000 words/min.
I would be looking at Reid in the same way she is looking at him; but I would be probably thinking something among the lines "I SO WANT TO KISS HIM" hahahaha
I have no clue how many words a minute I can read but I can read a 600 page book in 4 hrs. does that count for anything? haha no where near Reid speed.
The average chapter in a novel is about 2500 words. So (I really hope I did the calculations right...) Reid reads the average novel chapter in about 7-8 seconds.
lol i wish i could read as fast as Reid! i mean i already read really fast (10,000 words per minute) but Reid can read twice as fast! He' just awesome like that.
basically, you have to scan your eyes across the page as fast as you can and then you're brain eventually gets used to the speed and starts to process what you're "reading"..... and then HEY PRESTO you're reading....=] =] =]
its quite a good way to do some last minute revision before an exam =]
@randomluxray Actually, you can. It's all about knowing how to train your brain to read and absorb the information at a faster rate. There's even some computer program that's supposed to help you read faster, but I don't know if it's legit...
@DrRaginCajun Any hints or tips you can offer? Is it something you just practiced, or was there some course or study material that is/was available in your area?
@DarthBismarck Well, I just saw him do it, thought it was fantastic, and started practicing. I already had a natural speed reading ability, and I just kept reading and reading until I had gotten my speed up. I timed myself recently and I believe my time was approximately 17, 600 words per minute. Not quite as fast as Reid, but I'm getting there.
@randomluxray It's easy once you learn it, It's called Speed Reading (Skimming) Speed reading is a collection of reading methods which attempt to increase rates of reading without greatly reducing comprehension or retention. Methods include chunking and eliminating subvocalization.
It's called speed-reading and yea the record is somewhere along that mark. The average human reads about 150-200wpm, that is with complete comprehension.
So imagine... reading thousands upon thousands of words PER minute WITH 100% comprehension..X__x"
Well then, I must not be average. I read 312 wpm, nothing compared to miss 533 above^^^, but I'll definitely try to advance my wpm. So many books, so little time.
Lol yeah no one reads as fast as read. He's great lol, somehow able to read 20,000 words a min. lol too bad its likely impossible (you never know..haha).
twice as fast as me
timed it im half his speed
why am i proud of this?

Reid: both, actually..
Can you put that one up too? It's in the same episode.
