I can't keep oil in my 3 main 1500 motor. (Actually the second one I built). Both had borked surfaces after final rear main, where the scroll seal is. I have considered building a "B" motor for it, but looking at where the gear shift ended up on this car, I'd want to work hard to avoid that setup. It looks like an Alfa Spyder.
@karlInSanDiego My father's car is the same model with the same engine and gearbox ('59 MGA 1600, MKII MGB engine + overdrive box) and the shifter is in (I believe) the stock location. Certainly a better location than in this car. The transmission tunnel was custom fabricated, but there would have been fabrication required in this car too. My point is that it is certainly possible to have the shifter in a more ideal location. Hope that helps.

Not much point installing the wiper motor; the wipers do next to nothing anyway. :)
