The goal is to try and show them the error of their opinion at least as it pertains to your belief system. But yes some just won't listen to clear and simple debate or criticism and you're just better off leaving them to themselves. But don't sink down to anyone's level but refusing to acknowledge any rebuttal.

If you need to consciously follow an 8-steps-program to acquire such basic and important social skills as this one, you are completely lost. Especially if your list includes things like "Respect the other person", which is hard to achieve if you are a douchebag. It's also hard to fake. Everybody knows people, especially in management, who live by such recipes as given in the video. Even though the advice may be okay in itself, the results are flagrantly and annoyingly insincere.
