youve got the leads backwards. All speakers are supposd to suck inward when pulsed with electricity, when the leads are backwards, they push out. Reverse the leads and it might sound better.

@TylerWebster11 - Leads backwards? Not possible. It's a home theatre system so it's connected to the amp with a single cable.

With most speakers a positive signal results in the cone being pushed forwards not backwards. Wiring the amp or speaker connections in reverse i.e. + to - results in the cone being sucked backwards. There's debate on it that makes any difference to the sound you hear (same signal, just phased) , and that's on high end full range speakers not a sub woofer.

@aidynphoenix - The song can be felt fine, Most of the bass is within the 20hz limit of the ear, but does go down to 10hz, however this sub bottoms out at 22Hz so it will all be audible.

hey i was thinking about buying this sub so i have some questions.

1. how hard does this thing hit on movies? music i'm not concerned about since i have two large floorstanding speakers for movies.

2. what size room do you have it in?

3. during movies, have you heard this thing ever bottom out? i don't really listen to movies THAT loud but i was wondering how deep and clean this thing is.

1. Nice and low plenty of "punch" with the Low Frequency stuff they put in everything now. Try and demo with Iron Man (when he leaves the cave) or either of the Transformers films (no matter how bad they are, the LFE stuff is good).

3. Never had it that loud really, if you have the gain turned up too high it can start to lose it's way. Stuff in the room rattles before it starts to sound fuzzy. I have mine set to just above 0Db and have an Onkyo 905 amp that I listen to at about -23Db for films.

Personally I think it sounds better on a marble slab than sat directly on carpet. I've got mine sat on two slabs with foam between the two, mainly to decouple it from the floor as much as possible so it doesn't piss my downstairs neighbour off!. If you've got a bigger room then maybe consider the 10" version.

A friend of mine has this & we tested it with since wave test tones. Bass uniformity is rather poor with a big hump at 60 hz and16hz sine wave produced audible 32hz tone, indicating significant doubling 1st order harmonics,& low end drops off at 25hz or so. It sounds good for movies but very poor for music such as organ with low bass pitch variations. The SVS 10" was able to go all the way down to 16hz clean and loud in a typical room.
