@Theroguesunit6 that fix is for error codes (red rings) and i just used masking tape on the back vent where the two fans are and it would over-heat in 5-10 min. then simply turn it off pull the tape off then restart and you are good to go. sometimes it would go for 30 mins some times up to four days, then i just re applied the tape and repeat the proccess, and it worked for two separate error codes.

I've essentially got two broken xboxs with no warranty, Xbox #1 reads cds as DVDs and sometimes not at all, while xbox #2has the E74 error. Sooo, I took both apart and switched their disk drives, but for some reason xbox #1 is still reading cds as dvds despite its new disk drive. Xbox #2 never had that problem so I'm thinking it must be something else other than the disk drive but I just know what!

mine was making the grinding noise and saying open tray. I cleaned the poles the eye slides on and the corkscrew that moves the eye. It still sounds rough but it works! Thanks for the help :)
I played like that for like a year but then my disc wouldn't spin, I had to give it a boost, then after a couple a weeks my disc would stop suddenly and it would become very stiff to spin, so it still can mess, I might lube the laser and the motor and just buy a new drive for 22 dollars.

Dude I am so stoked about trying this fix out later. I bought NHL 09 the other day put it in and it says disc unreadable to me. Thankfully I tried other discs so I knew it was my xbox not the disc.

I found that the best way to fix the RROD issue is to open your xbox 360. then you need to vacuum out all the dust. Dont lose any screws while you do this. After that you need to smash your piece of shit console with a hammer and buy a ps3. voila fixed.
I know that id rather be playing my console than fixing it. Thats why i bought it in the first place. If i wanted to fix things id apply to work as a mechanic.

first of all I can fix systems too. Ive fixed way more complicated things, and built my own laptop from scratch. And just because your system didnt break down doesnt mean other people's havent. XBOX 360 has the worst failure rate of any system to date. So yeah i can say ps3 is better in this respect, because it IS.

I believe that they had all this planed out for the 360 users. so that way they can manage more money. This video actually helped me out a lot. I had the same error and I tried switching it out with another disc drive but I guess they had different disc drives...who knew.. then I gave it a try to fix the bad disc drive itself and this video helped me out with that a lot Thx man=)
1. You can switch the hitatchi drive out of another xbox, BUT it will not work unless you also switch the controller card. There is a link in my ghetto fix playlist on how to do this. If you just switch drives you will get the "Insert an xbox disc" error when you try to use it.
So if you do get your hands on a 360 disk drive, by all means swap it in or just hold on to it for future problems.

1. verify disc is clean and works in another console. I have used everything to clean my fav game from toothpaste to deodorant
2 clean the lens on the laser inside the dvd drive
3 put 360 in start on disc mode and give it a boost spin when the drive boots up and does the initial read.
4 replace drive but keep controller cad of old drive & put it on replacement drive

Disc is dirty or damaged, try clean it if that doesn't help look for scratches if they are there. you either need to reapir it or buy a new copy.

solution? persistance. keep trying, it'll work, but crash randomly in the campaign. it sucks.
or, install it to your hard drive. that way it wont even read off the disk.

Dude I am so stoked about trying this fix out later. I bought NHL 09 the other day put it in and it says disc unreadable to me. Thankfully I tried other discs so I knew it was my xbox not the disc.

I found that the best way to fix the RROD issue is to open your xbox 360. then you need to vacuum out all the dust. Dont lose any screws while you do this. After that you need to smash your piece of shit console with a hammer and buy a ps3. voila fixed.

first of all I can fix systems too. Ive fixed way more complicated things, and built my own laptop from scratch. And just because your system didnt break down doesnt mean other people's havent. XBOX 360 has the worst failure rate of any system to date. So yeah i can say ps3 is better in this respect, because it IS.

I believe that they had all this planed out for the 360 users. so that way they can manage more money. But any ways my disc drive is having the same problem but i purchased a new disc drive from ebay and i am replacing the Chip but this video is helpful thanks man

This video actually helped me out a lot. I had the same error and I tried switching it out with another disc drive but I guess they had different disc drives...who knew.. then I gave it a try to fix the bad disc drive itself and this video helped me out with that a lot Thx man=)

Yes and no.
This gets kinda tricky....
1. You can switch the hitatchi drive out of another xbox, BUT it will not work unless you also switch the controller card. There is a link in my ghetto fix playlist on how to do this. If you just switch drives you will get the "Insert an xbox disc" error when you try to use it.
So if you do get your hands on a 360 disk drive, by all means swap it in or just hold on to it for future problems.

hey man u just saved my life i can finaly play xbox, i dont know why but the plastic and metal piece wernt connecting to the magnet so i took apart my xbox and now i play with no dvd drive cover because i have to put the plastic piece on the cd like in your video.
