"final cut" is ALL roger, and the results were not so good...

Also only dogs comes to your mind because of the two simple very noticeably solos, while pigs is in my opinion, much more of a Gilmour work than dogs. The guitar playing in Pigs is fantastic. And Animals would've been NOTHING without Waters, his lyrics and ideas are brilliant, especially the sheep lyrics are eye opening.
The Final Cut happens to be my favorite album and no matter who you are you can relate to that album. Every song and every album by floyd is unique and innovative in its own way.

As a matter of fact kid, it has just about everything to do with the music; and the person who's writting it. Mostly people aspire to who they're interested in & care about what they might believe...... especially when their music is full of so much wisdom, feelings, emotions, meanings,etc. The person's experiences/beliefs are whats expressed in the music. It comes from the heart. Also, the lyrics from songs are mostly metaphorical & therefore something deeper (and less colloquial) is suggested.

@11ellsbells whoah there buddy... richard wright and david gilmour had just as much of an impact on their sound as waters. even look at an album like "animals" which was amaing, and roger's concept and lyrics, but like 70% of it is david just wailing on guitar (the track dogs comes to mind). my point is they were BEST when all of them were working together. "final cut" is ALL roger, and the results were not so good...

@5tonyvvvv they both wanted to take different paths wich the other didnt want to take. You can hear that the final cut is a lot more lyrical when David Gilmore wanted to focus on the music then the lyrics. They didnt share the same opinions.

Its personal so I cant go deeper then that. Thats just what I think after hearing about what happens with SOOOOOOO any other rock bands that break up.

@SuperTomwaits The Final Cut is good, and incredibly deep. Also only dogs comes to your mind because of the two simple very noticeably solos, while pigs is in my opinion, much more of a Gilmour work than dogs. The guitar playing in Pigs is fantastic. And Animals would've been NOTHING without Waters, his lyrics and ideas are brilliant, especially the sheep lyrics are eye opening.

Anyway, Neil Young believes in God & he is clearly miles better than Gilmour. Old Neil has ruled music with an iron fist since 1966, and contiues to do so, showing all you other BOYS how its done. Lets face it - Neil sets the pace. Everyone else came and faded away, sush as Pink Floyd, The Who, Gilmour, Dylan, you name it. Neil stood strong.

Don't be silly, mister. Neil and David are both really great musicians, regardless of what they believe. Neil believes in God and David doesn't, and even though Neil may be more prolific than David, they're both great songwriters in different ways. I believe in God too, but beliefs can't effect art. It's like a color blind guy looking at the sky, and saying it's purple, and a guy with normal vision looking at the sky, and saying it's blue.

As a matter of fact kid, it has just about everything to do with the music; and the person who's writting it. Mostly people aspire to who they're interested in & care about what they might believe...... especially when their music is full of so much wisdom, feelings, emotions, meanings,etc. The person's experiences/beliefs are whats expressed in the music. It comes from the heart. Also, the lyrics from songs are mostly metaphorical & therefore something deeper (and less colloquial) is suggested.

I don't think David is vain enough to believe that his music is some sort of miracle. He also doesn't say outright that he doesn't believe in god or isn't spiritual at all, he just doesn't believe in an afterlife, which is a valid position because no one really knows.
For a second imagine if god doesn't exist, does that mean everything in life is meaningless and an accident? Just because someone didn't design the Grand Canyon, does that make it any less beautiful?
